  • Welcome to episode 10 of Me, Myself & Dad!!
    I’m riding round the coast of Great Britain to raise money for St Wilfrid’s hospice in Eastbourne in honour of my dad who passed away from cancer in 2020. Details below on how to donate.
    On todays episode I ride the last few miles of Scotland into England. It’s a slog of duel carriageways and a search for chain lube! I end the journey on the beautiful Cumbrian coast within touching distance of the Lake District.
    Subscribe and hit the notification bell to keep up to date with all future days of this wild journey on my little RV125!!

    Love this series, man. I lost my dad to cancer in 2021. He loved motorcycles, but we never got the chance to go on a trip together. Seeing this series is more important to a lot of us than you might know. Keep the vids coming!

      Thanks Kevin 🙏 glad you’re enjoying the vids. Sorry to hear of your loss and that you also didn’t get to journey with your dad. It’s not fair is it. 😔
      Hope you’re keeping ok. Keep safe my friend and all the best 👍

    Scottoiler would be a great addition to the VanVan for the future. I have a motorcycle problem, owning more than 20 of them, and have a Scottoiler on all them that get used regularly, including a 125 Yamaha.
    Great videos sir, am enjoying them all, and look forward to getting through the rest of them.

    Looks like you got stuck behind an Irish truck heading out of Stranraer,
    They don't bother with speed retrictors thats why you couldn't get past the joker, you should have pulled over cos that shit could have been anything.
    Next time you clean your chain put some old cardboard down then bin it when you're done, could of got an old box from halfords.
    Enjoying the vids, done well on that van van👋

    Lack of power and top speed scares me when I'm on the open road with the VanVan. Yes, it's part of the bike's charm, but it can be scary if the overtaking is not planned well. One more great video of your epic trip. Enjoyed every second of it ❤️

    I’m pretty sure the van van doesn’t need anything ultra specific for the chain, use a splash of engine oil instead. And another bonus you’ll only need to carry one lube not two

    • @moto-coupe
      @moto-coupe  ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest anything was better than the paste that was on the chain. Felt good to get some good quality cleaner and lube. Felt like night and day.

    Reading some of the comments and hearing about the loss of your dad's is so sad, but speaking from another perspective, at least you got to know your father's and how great it can be, I on the other hand never knew mine, so at least you guys (and gals) had the good fortune to make memories, good memories too I'm sure 😊.
    Another great video, I've just got a 125cc bike (bullit hero 2018 reg) its so bloody slow though, the slowest 125 ever, I'm lucky to get to 50mph after 10 minutes lol, I want a bigger bike haha 😄.

      Glad you liked the video. I just saw your bike on your channel, it looks awesome! Is it really that slow? A friend of mine has a similar bike and we find that if you just keep it in 5th its a bit quicker than changing up to 6th?

    Been looking forward to new episodes and enjoying seeing how your adventure turns out. I've never considered going to the Cumbria coast as would go to the lakes or to Scotland but it looks beautiful. Love that you are doing it on a vanvan proving that you don't need a massive tourer to undertake an epic journey. Look after that chain!

    • @moto-coupe
      @moto-coupe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you’re enjoying the videos! Yea the Cumbrian coast was lovely. Like everywhere I went, I wish I could have spent more time there!
      For sure you don’t need a flash bike for an epic journey. The VanVan did a great job, but there were times I was envious of the big tourers when they waved at me in comfort! 🤣🤣
      The chain was treated like a king for the rest of the journey!! 👌

      Ah thanks Daniel! That’s great you’re enjoying the journey. I think these little bikes are really capable, so long as you accept their limitations. You should go for it and do a trip!! 😂😂😂 the lorry that you was following had a refrigerated trailer that was defrosting so the liquid that was spuing out was just water. Hope this makes you feel a bit better. It wasn't meat juice or anything as disgusting as that but still very inconvenient for someone riding a low powered bike. 😁

    How many miles has the bike done? Chains last a lot longer than they used to, but sometimes cheap bikes have cheap chains. I hope it holds up. I wonder how much extra shove the VV 200 has.
    This is turning out to be an epic trip. My first 'big' trip was from Skipton to Scarborough on my Honda CD175 when I was a teenager - all of 80 miles. Haha! When I started proper long-distance touring, it was on a Yamaha XT500E.

    • @moto-coupe
      @moto-coupe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bikes not done many miles, although now it’s just under 10k thanks to 2022! 🤣 the chain is fine and has loads of life left. It was new for the trip. I just neglected it for the first half of my tour which was dumb. It was ok once I started taking care of it.
      80 miles is a long way when it’s the first long trip. I remember my first big trip was my bandit 650 the day I picked it up. Was my first big bike and I rode it 80 miles home. It was an education!!! 🤣🤣

    Is this live each day ? The weather looks quite good for Scotland and Northern England. I'm down south in East Sussex (Bexhill) myself and its 10 degrees today and dry. You are on the home straight now. 9 days to go ? You can't be heading straight back because it's possible to ride from Cumbria back to the South Coast in 1/2 days (dependant upon saddle sore bum / good progress for Van Van). Ride safely.

    • @moto-coupe
      @moto-coupe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! No not live, I did this trip last September. It’s just taken me ages to release the footage as I work full time, moved house, life etc!!
      But yea only 9 days left!! If I was taking main roads I could ride hundreds of miles in a day. But as I’m following lots of coastal roads progress is outrageously slow!!
