There is the Preburst mode for S5ii now

R7 has more pixels than s5ii, this is why the pics made with r7 seem sharper.

Got very tempted at an S5ii with 2 lenses for £1629 but i think i'll go with the G9ii instead

I think the future is perfecting (expanding) the effectiveness of the dynamic range boost: There is a physical limitation to the sensor size, but companies like Arri can take a super 35 sensor and pull the best colors and dynamic range out of it that so many beautiful films have been shot on it. Panasonic is on the right track, they just have to keep going...maybe partner with Arri (I know I am dreaming)

Do I need a dummy battery?

No thoughts, thoughts are normally very expensive.

I've watched a TON on Panasonic S5ii vids this last week as I researched it before buying, this is the ONLY video that showed that focus keyframing one. Absolutely awesome!

I thought i was gonna hear the same stuff like this camera can record in 6k opengate but these features you mentioned are actually really interesting that i never knew about. Thanks for this!

Luke, I’m going to borrow a S5II, EF adapter and 70-300. I’m a Canon R6 User, Have you tried to adapt your Canon lenses? Also do you get much blackout in mechanical burst mode? Great vid BTW.

Boost IS is a tripod mode not meant for any movement. You need to turn that off and just use the standard Dual Ibis for walking or you get those jerks seen through your entire video.

Thanks a lot for the video. I say that it was noticeable better with the stabilizer on - especially in the standing shot. It almost seemed to be on a tripod. Great work ❤

I think the newer electronic stabilization settings are gyro based and not image based, so you wouldn't find a huge improvement at the telephoto focal lengths and post stabilization in your NLE will give you better results. It does wonders under 50mm though.

Nice vid mate, I really like your content. Do you have you have the latest update for the lens installed as well? The 150-600 has had two updates now -the last one really improved the tracking even before this lumix update. I use the same set up and do wildlife as part of my work - those updates together have transformed this set up. Looking forward to your next one, cheers 👍

Do you know if I can use an Atomos to video record my photoshoot (while in photo mode), while still being able to use the back screen display and EVF on the R7 and shoot to SD card? I can't figure out a solution...

There seems to be a huge oversight in Panasonic software compared to Sony. Quote from the Sony manual : "To continuously adjust the focus and exposure during continuous shooting, set as follows: - [Focus Mode]: [Continuous AF] - [ AEL w/ shutter]: [Off] " This seems not possible with Panasonic. Haters please note: I shoot both systems professionally :)

doesn't work on mine. Not on obs anyway, it worst for webcam test online, and character animator, but very very laggy. I can't stand it.

A lot of these features have been around since GH5 I believe.

Hi Luke Excellent video. Thank you. Tether mode on a Mac Mini 2018 (intel i7) running Sonoma 14.4 with my S5iix was very unstable and did not work at all as a webcam for Zoom, Facetime, or Camo Studio etc. I am not sure how much Camo Studio presented a conflict. With the Video Card my S5iix showed up on OBS itself but Camo Studio took over in Zoom etc. Panasonic webcam software did not work at all. Maybe one day I'll try Panasonic's software on my Mac Studio M2 and see if the higher spec hardware makes a difference but it currently reserved for post production. Until then I am happy to have my camera work on my current setup as a webcam at all. Thanks again Luke. Good luck!
