Well my friend this is whole convex grind, you have to sharpen it the way convex grind knives get sharpen. NO LANSKY SYSTEM IS SUPPOSED TO BE USED it is meant to sharpen either flat or concave grinds and it excels this way, but not suitable to sharpen convex blades or even scandi grinds, unless you get the EXACT scandi degree to set upon the lansky platforms which is very difficult. The very first times you will sharpen it you will get razor sharp edge (if you sharpen it though as convex grinds sharpen you will get TRIPLE razor sharp edge) but long term sharpen it with lansky you will thicken the edge and you will end up needing to re profile the edge in order to be a FANTASTIC SLICER AGAIN. JUST DONT DO IT I speak from experience I didn’t know any better and I DESTROYED THE BEST FOLDING SLICER EVER. When I say I destroyed it by sharpening it with lansky system (thank God I did it only once) I mean that the edge became only razor sharp INSTEAD TO BECOME TRIPLE RAZOR SHARP!!! Please refer to videos of how to sharpen and hone convex blades. With a properly sharp opinel you will be amazed of how effective slicer it gets and I don’t mean only for food preparation USE IT AS WOOD CARVER AND YOU JUST WONT BELIEVE WHAT IT DOES !!! You never use it though for batoning or as a prayer only as it meant to be, namely as a slicer, this way is practically indestructible. It loses its edge relatively soon BUT IS SOOOO EASY TO GET IT BACK (when you know how to do it) THAT IS ACTUALLY FUN TO SHARPEN IT.
Looks awesome - rather big price differences on the uk stockists. Guessing the flipper in the previous was directly from real steel as can't find it on a uk site
The only video about it cutting and you're going on and on about coating... C'mon man
i was just interested in seeing how well the coating holds up. I know some of the other TH-camrs have done some great videos on sharpness testing and seeing how long different steels stay sharp after cutting rope etc. but I'm not really set up for that as I don't have a workshop or space for it. Thanks for the comment - I'm always interested in feedback
I'd like them all a lot better if the corner of the blade didn't stick out of the back. I hate having jagged things in my pocket
I hear you, but the corner on the Luna is nicely rounded off and I've never had an issue with catching my skin or pocket. I agree that the design is much cleaner when the corner is hidden, like on the UKPK. Thanks for commenting!
Consider the Byrd Tern. It's a cheaper version of the UKPK but it actually has safer ergonomics. You can't close the blade on your finger in the same way you can on the UKPK, it's perfect in that sense.
How does it weigh in grams knife when you put it on this brass scales? I mean leaf shape on brass,3 pins.
This is the video I’ve been looking for!
I don't understand how you've done this so easily; I got a stud off a donor luna boost and it absolutely does not fit on my luna lite. The blades don't even look the same so it makes sense that it doesnt fit but I dont get that it works for you lol.
I think the fact that it is now difficult to get hold of flippers from places like Heinnie Haynes is a sign that they fall into a grey area legally even without the spring assist. That said, I do love a flipper. Ive got my eyes on the Kizer Lieb.
Non locking blade but the all lock wtf!!!
hi! nice video, could you tell me what is that piece of metal in the box between the scales for? is it a clip or something? cheers!
Thanks for the comment! That is a little pry-bar. I think they make it from the part left between the scales when they cut them out of the blank sheet.
@@randomreviewz2628 thank you!
Don’t suppose you want to sell it on as a few years passed? 🙏🏻🙂
I think I like it. I like my para 3 as its thicker. I don't like the feel of the thin handles.
Hello, just found your channel and wow in a few years you’ve grown from 100 subs to 2.8K. Well done!
Does it also work for stella?
Enjoy your videos. Is there a Real Steel UK website,I need to get a thumb stud?
No links to the knife?🤷🇬🇧
The law in this country 🇬🇧 stinks! It changes like the British weather! Why would a 2 inch lock knife be illegal? They don't give a shit about the safety of the user!
Cool book !! 😮
Such ridiculous nanny laws. The little schniveler sticklers that would get scared and frightened by this make me sick. Fixed blades can be concealed just as easily. ughk
This is real 👍 a Great Knive !
What angle did you use with the Lansky?
hey, is this the beadblast or satin titan luna?
Dose heinei hays have a shop or is it just online
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this lovely pocket knifes
Am from amazon good job 👏 👍
Personally I do think the lil native feels more premium. Very solid in the hand. The clip is a disaster, but to be honest a knife this size is better of without a clip entirely in my view, so just take it off and back pocket carry it IMO. Beyond that, it's got a great feel to it, quick and easy to deploy. The UKPK is of course longer, but in practical use I'd value discretion over an extra inch of blade in the UK to be honest. I always wonder if the UKPK would pass the test in court if really pushed, case law suggests the entire blade (not just the sharpened bit) needs to be under 3in so the UKPK always feels a tad risky to me. The Urban is a good option and better value for money, but if money is no issue then the lil native slipit is probably the pick of the bunch for UK EDC (in my opinion of course).
Nope Google it and you’ll find the first page on UK gov website clearly states it’s the CUTTING EDGE that matters when it comes to blade length
@ your name is somewhat ironic given your approach is ‘Google it’… meanwhile case law has established it’s not just the cutting edge, and it turns out it’s the law that matters not a webpage. Hence why we can’t all carry around folding spears with a nice short cutting length.. So as I said, it’s somewhat risky.
@@MPD90 you don’t the think the gov knows the laws they enforce? 😂 as stated clearly on the constantly updated gov.uk website, you’re allowed to carry a non-locking sub 3” cutting edge WITH A VALID REASON. So a “folding spear” with a blade under 3” would be legal as long as you had good reason to carry it ie you were about to go spear fishing. But without a valid reason, which would be very difficult to prove in court for a folding spear, you could and would still be arrested and charged with the offence (carrying a weapon in public without a valid reason). Maybe read the gov web page as I suggested? 😂
@@ObjectiveAnalysis I like how you put the bit you got completely wrong in capitals. You DO NOT NEED A VALID REASON to carry a sub-3 inch non-locking knife, that's sort of the whole point buddy. So if you can't get the most basic fundamental rule right, what makes you think you have the first clue about the caselaw on this topic? Try learning something rather than just running your mouth..
@ stop arguing with people online and go and read the law you ignoramus 😂
Slide thumpstud closer to tip slightly for easier leverage?
On the blade length vs cutting edge the spirt of the law is obviously talking about overall blade length, otherwise you could just dull big daggers and only have the top 3 inch sharp.
Does this scales als fit the droppoint version?
They will do 100%.
I have the TKJ Lil Native, it is my favourite and one and only Small Knife. Granted i have a compression lock. The pocket clips on Spyderco doesn’t bother me and i don’t mind if my knife shows a bit. I mean people are going to see the pocket clip and know you are carrying a pocket knife. Cause spyderco offers 4 way pocket carry in all their knives is why there are other holes in the scales. The day they don’t say for a particular piece, people will bitch moan and gripe, about it to no end. The slip joint knives are 2 handed so maybe that is way the blade is the way it is 🤷🏻♂️ On mine I don’t have that problem. Then again i don’t have any laws on pocket knives. I can literally walk down the street with a Katana and even have one in my car. I am baffled about the laws in your country, angers me just hearing about it.
- "I can literally walk down the street with a Katana and even have one in my car." I am baffled about the laws in your country...
@@MPD90 don’t be jealous, just saying if one were to carry a katana you wouldn’t get stopped and F’d with by police. We can carry automatics, switch blades, gravity, swords you name it. And have them in your vehicle… Versus your Dumb country’s Laws where you can’t even have a lock LOL 🤬😡 knives and guns don’t kill people.
It would certainly be legal in Germany. The blade as you mentioned is easy to close and has no mechanism keeping it in place, so its not prohibited by the german law.
It's a true tragedy that grown adults are told they can't have a locking knife, like their little kids. And why can't it have a lock? It's still a knife and is still capable of doing everything a locking knife can, other than the fact it could chop your fingers off without a lock.
Thank you for your video.I couldn't decide between Lil Native and UKPK. At the UKPK I don't like the FRN without washer. The G10 on the Lil native looks more premium, but your video showed me the other weaknesses. I'll wait for a better version of the UKPK. 100€ for frn and without washer is a nogo for me.
I love opinel. Stock, they are not as attractive, I agree. That’s why I tell people to look only at the blade and simplicity of the mechanism. The handle can be anything you make it, which is an addicting hobby itself. I would be very worried about carrying one without a lock tho as sharp as these are. No. 6 and no. 8 are my favorites. As a lansky user as well, I can only imagine how wickedly sharp that would turn out. Never had to though since my factory edges usually only need stropping.
Hello! Nice Video! How is the weight (in grams) with the titanium scales. Hope it is under 85gr. Have a good time!
Good vid! Im so glad I waited before ordering these scales from HH, as I didnt know washers were originally not provided. So i was surprised when opening the jiffy to see washers! For anyone wondering, I measured the washers for the UKPK at OD 8mm x ID 4mm x T 0.25mm
An interesting collection of one-handed opening knives, but I've never understood the appeal unless you only have 'one hand'. It's always safer to use two hands to open and close a folding knife irrespective of their design...being in my late 50's and having always carried one (EDC), safety has always been important. Just my thoughts - thanks for sharing the video
Do you think there is a difference between the S110V and the SPY27 except the material of the blade? On the website they look identical, so Im not sure
Indeed, I'd say it's just a different blade steel. I've heard SPY27 is a decent steel. Not quite as hard as S110v so probably easier to sharpen. Thanks for the comment!
I have just ordered mine as my EDC , I would love to know we're or how you got the small para cord lanyard ☺️👍, great review btw thank you
I’ve just put my scales on was easier than i thought apart from putting the blade back on the spring. Looks awesome.
Yes, getting the blade on was fiddly. Did you get washers in with your box? Thanks for the comment by the way :)
Don't you think they need to get it right when they strike a deal with the manufacturers what are plunker they are is all in the washers and I am a little bit washed out now so goodbye😂😂
Drinking game: Every time I say washers, take a shot!
😂😂
I thought VP Creations site was dead, been checking back for over a year and I have had to import UKPK scales from Russia and Australia. Turns out his site does not work with my fiefox. Nice scales but I do prefer the curves on the VP ones, my carbon fibre 4 pins are so comfy..
The scales look great!
ANOTHER UPDATE - Since uploading, I've been in discussion with Heinnie and following our discussion, all these Ti UKPK scales WILL NOW BE SHIPPED WITH WASHERS. No need to order any washers separately
Copper washers what size?
This is all moving so quickly - A new update from HH, all these scales will now be shipped with washers. Don't order any washers separately.
@@randomreviewz2628 Thanks sir much appreciated!
Do you (or somebody else reading this) know if the thumb stud also fits with the Real Steel Solis?
Yes, the Real Steel stud also fits the Solis. Be warned though, the Solis action is much more stiff than the Luna so it's much harder on the thumb to open. Please see my Solis video. Thanks for the comment :)
@@randomreviewz2628 ok thank you very much. It will do the job for me, since i'll use it two handed 95% of the time. Just when one hand holds something and i need a quick cut it will come handy.
I dont know if you learned after this however it is not a 3 inch cutting edge it is a 3 inch blade length that is from the handle scale to tip of the blade.a lot of people have been caught out by that.
Isn’t the Ukpk longer than 3” if you measure like that?
@@justhetip No it is just bellow the legal limit it was very carefully made for that. However some "UK legal" knives are not legal.
Within a week of having my d2 luna i dropped it on a wood floor and snapped about 2-3mm off the tip. Apart from that i still like it
