Omg you are a HERO....🎉🎉🎉🎉❤😂 brilliant video thank you si much🎉🎉🎉🎉
You're welcome!
Wow! Really interesting and highly informative, Thank you very much sir 😊.
Glad you liked it
I worked at Lucas Plume street as a lad and I often made looms by hand. I knew the Lucas wiring colour code off by heart. A Yorkshireman called Ernie Shufflebottom (really) was the plume street garage reception guy a great character, happy days
Very cool!
Spokes were fitted downwards when factory built, definately not upwards.
We’ll have to politely agree to disagree on that one. Production line photos exist. And the famous BmcEcosse (Roy), who was a senior BMC engineer, has confirmed it. But you can put it on the other way up if you like.
Great video 👍🏾
Thank you! 🤗
Great informative video, nicely done 👍
Thank you! 👍
Can't wait for a video on how to fix an engine that is currently cursed by a local witch

Brilliant Brian, I never thought of using a claw hammer inspired 👍
Thanks 👍
A truly excellent video. Well filmed, edited and narrated. On such a lovely, clean Moggy too. Epic.
Glad you enjoyed it
Don't know if you've come across it but the No-nonsense heavy duty degreaser from Screwfix is ace for erm degreasing and washing out oil and whatnot.
Thanks for the tip 👍
Thanks for the tip 👍
I have a set of blue plastic tools for removal of the card liners and similar items , one of which has a 90° hook which can be used for removing hub caps without damaging the paintwork. I am very grateful moreover for the info of the spare wheel retaining piece which is new to me ( 'cos I do not have one and did not know they existed ) and will possibly prevent the spare moving around.
Thanks for your comments! 👍
@@jodiethemorrisminortraveller Thankyou for this and all your others tips and suggestions some of which I have already implemented.
You’re very welcome
Awesome
Thanks 👍
Brilliant I’ll do that next time on my moggies. 👍
Thanks!
Just fit a Mountney and have done with it; much safer on earlier models not yet retrofitted with seatbelts.
One way to go. Although many prefer authenticity.
It would be nice to get some history on your Minor, was it extensively restored etc.
She was fully restored about 12 years ago with new wood, all rusted areas replaced, respray etc. That was just before I bought her. In my ownership she’s been fitted with a Marina 1275, stage 2 head, fast road cam, LCB, Toyota T50 5 speed box, van wheels, vertical shocks, ARB, full race half shafts, front discs, plus various electrical mods as per this channel. Thanks for your interest.
@@jodiethemorrisminortraveller That's cool, you should put all of that into a walk-around video shoing the various mods etc. I had assumed it was all bog standard of course as it looks that way from the outside, beautiful thought it is.
I might do that when I have time. She’s what they call restomod. Brought up to date but looks stock.
Best not to have other keys on the same ring as the ignition key anyway as the swinging weight of the other keys eventually wears out the ignition key or the barrel potentially causing the lock to fail to work which can render your car inoperative. My mechanic told me off for doing just that.
Thanks for the tip 👍
Beautiful work.
Thank you! Cheers!
Marvellous
Thanks!
Awesome like a moving picture Haynes manual except without the oily fingerprints.
Thanks! Much appreciated.
Nice vid. I personally like to solder any brass connectors but crimping should be OK.
Thanks!
Love the humour
Thanks!
Yup, poplargreg sent some discs for mine. Well impressed.
Yes, he’s good.
Put an electric fan in front of the radiator =no over heating that causes vaporising of the fuel ( fan blows towards the engine)
Thanks for your response
I used the 12V Buzzer which was placed in circuit with my Oil Pressure switch. When you turned -on the Ignition, it buzzed. As you started the engine, the Oil Pressure built-up, the buzzer ceased. I once lost all Oil Pressure, and didn't notice the small (tiny) Oil Pressure Light in bright daylight. This is an instant warning - that will always protect your engine in an oil-pressure loss situation. Well-explained video that covers all aspects of switching to LED Lighting for a classic car. Finally, I changed my High Beam warning to LED. It was barely visible when lit before this action. Greetings from Australia.
That’s a really good tip 👍
Hi, great video as always. You mention that you need a relay as your switch earths when reverse is selected. I have the Ford type gearbox with the simple switch, does that mean I don't need the relay? Just a case of picking up feed from the ignition on side of the fuse box? Thanks Ritch
That is correct
@@jodiethemorrisminortraveller thanks for the super quick response
You’re welcome!
You’re welcome!
It is always easy when you have the right tools to hand! I had to replace my steering rack for my traveller when converting to LHD. Unfortunately the new ones are made sealed and cannot be topped up! However, when I had to replace a gaitor I used red grease ( which was prevalent in the unit already) packed in as much as possible. Love your videos, already copied some on my car, even though it is clear you do not know what you are doing ( irony intended! )
Thanks for your comments 👍
Excellent video👍👍👍👍
Thank you 👍
Thank you 👍
Always look forward to your videos. Thank you.
Glad you like them!
Enjoy your videos, helpful for the diy'er , I worked on most 60s 70s bmc vehicles as an apprentice mechanic at Kennings, the gaiters will fit round rack if warmed and lubricated, twisting round a little at a time. If refitting old track rods ends, count the amount of turns it takes to remove, then count turns when refit. Your moggie looks very tidy, I particularly like your wiring and electrical videos, very neat work.
Cool, thanks
Great video, very informative and well presented, plus links are very useful.
Glad it was helpful!
For your screen wash button I’ve used a rover p4 starter switch that I had laying around And locks period I just painted the s in black gloss 👍
That’s a great tip. Thanks!
Nice work.. great ,thanks
Thank you too!
Love the videos mate. I dont own a Morris but have always wanted one and yoyr videos are so clear! All of the things i would want to do, you have basically covered!
Thanks 👍
Hello, I just wanted to thank you for these excellent videos. I’ve just bought my first Minor and your instructions and the wiring diagrams have been so useful, both for doing improvements and also for diagnosing problems. Keep em coming!
Glad you like them!
Just stumbled onto your Vlog , the TARDIS sound caught me by surprise.... I know very little about cars sorry , just to say keep it forever , don't buy any modern car they are rubbish & break down & costs thousands to fix , & it's only gonna get worse with electronic Dash & other stuff My other mode of transport is a police box ( I wish ) 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🧳🧳🧳🧳🧳🧳🧳🧳
Thanks for watching 👍
very neat installation, well explained.
Glad you liked it!
Great video, much better than the one I did which is in ESM link (by me!) The one on that car was my first prototype which I came up with one Sunday afternoon after banging my head and wondering why we had all put up with it for so long. I started making them myself but such was the demand I gave the drawings to ESM to make and sell. My little gift to the Morris Minor family.
Wow, so you were the original designer? That’s amazing. Well done! 👍
I do like your videos. They are clear, concise and have great information. Thanks for sharing them. Cheers from New Zealand
Glad you like them!
Why didn’t you change the route of the fuel line ?
Without moving the fuel pump it would only be possible to gain an inch or so. And I would probably still have needed the insulation. Anyway, it worked perfectly. The problem is completely gone.
☹️
The screwdriver joke was hilarious 😂
👍
That was certainly a comprehensive belt & braces approach! I had exactly the same problem in my Series 2 but it was literally just the fuel vapourising in the fuel line (badly routed right past the manifold imo). I just used the reflective wrap technique on that section of fuel line and never had the problem recur in the last couple of years since I did it.
Great to hear!
FUEL starvation due heat , obstruction in fuel flow .
Exactly
It can also help to fit a small bore fuel return line off the SU float chamber back the tank, although this is a lot of work it helped on my twin SU Triumph engine to deal with the alcohol it was never originally intended to when sitting in traffic
Too much work for me.
SUGGESTION (From experience). Worth thinking about is - BMC 'A' and 'B' series engines are supplied with fuel by an electric fuel pump (Moggie has it in the engine compartment (on engine bulkhead; see video), Oxford / Cambridge type cars have it in the boot). Because of wear and tear, (like the distributor) the points in the diaphragm-type pump wear and can cause intermittent fuel starvation similar to vapour-lock. You can hear the pump clicking as it builds-up pressure when first switching the ignition on. If you don't then tapping the body with a screwdriver handle should get it working again. You used to be able to buy replacement contacts but it would be by specialist outlets now. twigged
This is very true and your advice is good. However it wasn’t the case here. Highly tuned A Series engines with LCB exhausts invariably run hot and vapor lock.
What a beautifully filmed, well made, instructional video. Reminded me of old school. NIce to have an old motor where you can actually work on it.
Glad you enjoyed it
I don't know if your petrol in the UK has ethanol in it like many parts of the USA and here in South Africa. The vapour lock became so bad that i went to the electric pump route.
We can still get decent petrol, but it’s more expensive
@jodiethemorrisminortraveller we don't have a choice. Electric pump cured my vapor lock issues in my old vw. I live in a hot country that made it worse. Classic guys in parts of the use are battling too.
👍
Did you use a gasket when installing the base plate?
Yes
My 1960 Minor used to do that at junctions, red lights, etc., not due to vapour lock, but because it was knackered! New cars do it by design!
It happens
