Its Related, I Promise Podcast || "Ask Us Anything" with Julia Gaitho & Sharon Machira
There are factors. I loathe privileged blanket statements. I come from a privileged background and went to private schools which i doubt i can even afford for my own children as it stands, never lacked anything and have lived a privileged life which i thank God everyday for those experiences. When illness struck my late mother my family haemorrhaged millions in her treatment which bankrupted us and morally demoralized us to a point where we are yet to pick up the pieces. Young lady life has a way of humbling you and i pray you will not find yourself in the position our family did. Do not make statements that appear to mock poor people. People have issues and i know many repectable people who have sacrificed to carry their whole families on their shoulders with education and healthcare etc. After all poverty and brokeness is relative, The biggest mistake one can make is appear to adulate money and categorize people on social standings. I have had the privilege to know some of those on the panel as they are friends with some of my friends in my circle and i cringe when i hear such statements as most of us with afew exceptions are very very privileged and have no right to make statements on poverty as we have had our hands held by our parents upto our mid 30's. Not everyone has that privilege of being mollycoddled, get out of your cocoons and circles you will respect life more. It is very cringe!!
This really touched me the day I watched it I got promoted and Yoh the way I was scared but after remembering this🥰
Kikuyu is a chosen community of God
So age heals poverty trauma … society with its madness
The lady that acknowledges the stereotype is a real bongo lala
Unapologetic Kikuyu in the house. Having been born and raised up in Nairobi. And having friends from all tribe's, makes me sad that this two tribe's the animosity won't end during my lifetime. Growing up my mother being "born again" would tell us never bring tribe so and so to me. My bro is 52 not married coz the woman he got kid's with my mom didn't want anything to hear about her coz she's from uko. Being the last born i went South and dated from all manner of tribe's and married from luo. She tried that with me it didn't work coz. Now we're 17 years in marriage and now my wife being luo is number favorite daughter in-law. This BS should stop for heaven's sake.
In my formative years, I didn’t even know terms like "light skins are pretty and dark skins are not" existed. It wasn’t until I was exposed to the real world (public school😂), with its biases and bullying, that I began to grapple with these ideas. So whenever someone called me pretty, I struggled to take it as a genuine compliment. Instead, I would question their intentions-were they saying it because they truly thought I was pretty, or simply because of my lighter skin tone? and ladies that is one downside of being light skin
Very very true. Be careful about the "Gìkùyù imposters" who sung "emanspated from slavery"
MAASAI lazma niseme....
Not those ones who fight, fighting doesn't change anything Big up to my sister she apologize, she is remorseful at least she perved the way to forgiveness to be better partners I wish them well
True, the statute of limitations for blaming others should have expired by 30, if not sooner.
We have the Third City in Kenya 🇰🇪 I’m Luo Dad was Eng in Chief of Comm for 20 years built a powerful comm foundation for KE and EA..Our wealth builds entire civilizations.#Nairobians
Both of them Fine Maan
Madness, you are a product of your society. Its not a limiting factor its more of a options thing some people just dont have some options and thats it
It is really related as y'all have promised.I am actively unemployed in the development space/NGO space and there is a lot of similarities
It's true never should you marry Akikuyu ladies
Am a Kikuyu lady with a Luo bf, zile kusengenywa na familia nitasengenywa, 😂😂😂😂 we love each other and thinking to make it to the next level , marriage. Weeeuuh si rahisi. Kwanza extended family.
That's too harsh indeed, I wish some of you over there could have come from the kind of families which some of us come from...
I agree on taking risks especially when you know what outcome you desire and it becomes easier when you believe your worth.
Yes it's true, Jang'os are rich but Kiuks are wealthy
Kenyan women have great energy. ❤ God bless you all.
We were told ukipata pesa atakumaliza na take all your properties.
Who is that Guy??
😂😂😂Wee,not only do i have to heal, unlearn certain behaviours, pay for school, pay my rent, look for a good paying a job, such statements derail people, the struggle is real
Hapa tuko na mwanaume simp already.
😂😂😂😂the mwanaume is shaking hahahahaaa
I thin it is on record that he plays for the pink team. Watch his other podcasts
Huyu mwanaume 😂
Lol - spotted it too
😂 honestly nilithani ni Mimi peke niliona hiyo mguu.
That statement is true we can’t keep blaming everything on the things that happened when one was young .It is time to grow up and stop sucking the thumb and blaming it on one’s youth.
Noma
It happens. Those ladies don't even care when you are dead 😅😂
Stupid stereo types that have no place in todays world.
Damn irresistible
Just feel her
The red - the beauty n smile..the nose damn sexy
Opportunities favours you depending on the environment you've grown ..And if you been brought up at those remote villages there's certain mentality that limits your growth.
What is LUO, What is KIKUYU... 👽👽👽👽👽 YAANI KUONGEA TU 🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟
It's true to date
Shida ya atheists it that munafikiri nyinyi ndio mnajua kureason. Munajiona nyinyi ndio mko na akili
The privilege can be felt as some were entering the workforce with nothing to worry about but their life but many of us don't have that and I don't blame my parents I understand now but I will not compare myself with someone who has this privilege never ever
Wow,in South Africa we have grown up told the same about Xhosa women. I am Sotho( Mopedi tribe),growing up in rural village of Limpopo Province,I grew up hearing our Grant Parents teaching us that, but their intentions were to encourage us to marry ladies from the same tribe. As sothos we share similarities with Batswana,Basotho then we are Bapedi, sotho comprise of these tribes internationally with Barotse tribe found in Zimbabwe,Botswana .Namibia and Zambia. They were discouraging us to marry Basotho saying they like prostitution, they were saying Botswana don't practice their culture meaning they don't go to mountain for circumcisions and they are more westernized. I believe is stereotypical thinking. I like kikuyis as I have been to Kenya, trained in Mombasa,Bandary College,I like your 24 hour transport system, tuk tuk, mathato, your beautiful ladies but they drink too much.
G
What about kambas, cause Gosh am so in love with them

The lady with a big pin on her nose , so scary like a ploughing bull .
A lot of people in their 20s, even 30s are carrying their families, educate the other 3,4,5, behind them before they start investing in themselves. Of course their parents and poverty cycles are to blame! What of people in America who spend their 20s paying Student loans. We live in such unfair and unbalanced systems. Such blanket statements are quite dumb and insensitive. However, if you had your rich parents and all sorts of priviledge maybe then...Your background plays a huge role! Most people have no headstart, no inheritance, no safety nets when they fall. I am with Julia on this one.
@ Doreen queen you get it you are not the same with a person who doesn't have this on their backs they started on a right footing without any obligations systems systems systems
