I would have gone with the rust colour on your swatch x I'm surprised at your cable choice yarn, does it have the structure for a cable sweater? Although I'm not surprised at the colour. I'm totally all over burgundy, forest green and deep gold.❤❤❤ much love from Shetland
I agree!! It really doesn’t have the structure I would typically want from a cable friendly yarn. But I am also kind of putting faith in the designer that they chose well. I can’t tell you it’s not the most fun to work cables with. I have to limit myself because I definitely have to grip it more. But I’m hopeful the finished fabric will be worth it. And if it’s not, then we’ll learn together, right?! 😆
Hi there. Watching this podcast today and love the rolled neck you did. I didn’t see the project on your Ravelry and I am not familiar with the Zimmerman technique. Do you have a resource for it? Tutleneck are too hot for me. High rolled would be perfect. Your sweater turned out perfect. Thank you
Hi! Thanks for watching. I’ve just saved the tutorial I used to my Knitting Tips playlist. It’s my go to any time I’m binding off in stockinette or garter. I usually knit 3 rows in stockinette after the ribbing and then do this bind off. If you’d like a less exaggerated roll, you can even do just one row in Stockinette.
Great taste and beautiful accent ❤
Wish there was audio knitting patterns as my sight is poor .
🥚 think I missed the window but my favorite colorwork sweater that I've knit so far is Illuminate by Andrea Mowry. My first sweater and I always get compliments on it. It was great fun! You've got me interested in the Boria sweater for something totally new and different! 🎉
We love spending time with you ❤ congrats on 5k ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’m glad to hear you are using a cable needle! I always use one as I find it a way to slow down and examine my cable to get it right.
Good to see you. It seems that boucle is the yarn of the season, so I ordered some to see what all the hype is about 😂
🐣my current favourite are the songbird mittens as they seem to be a perfect small project gift knit. Love your colourwork sweater xxx ❤
I'm glad I'm not the only one who panic orders. I also over estimate amounts. I figure it will get used for something lol
🪺 Hi Hailey, l love your podcasts. My favorite colorwork pattern is Pink Velvet by Andrea Mowery. I think it's modern and elegant at the same time.
Love your "easteregg comment", and the dickie in the handspun is fab - right choice
maybe too late! but I am thinking about a colorwork vest, and this one is gorgeous Wild Rose Vest by Mary Ann Stephens. Just getting into it this year.
Dearest Hailey Maybe you'd gain some tips for your cable sweater wip by watching Helle from Danish Musings podcast..I believe she is wearing it and goes into great detail about her mods to avoid too much fabric in the arm sections. Love, love your podcast..I notice myself smiling whenever I watch you..keep up the great work!!
Great episode, Hailey! Your dickie colors are incredible! xoxo
🥚I just finished the Sheep Camp sweater and loved it!
🥚soldotna by Caitlin Hunter 🥚🍳🐣
Seoul blouse by Aegyo is my number 1 at the moment
I have so many colorwork projects on my wish list that I can't decide which one would be my first choice.
I knit Dancing Queen by Cassipinka which is a beginner friendly color work sweater.
🥚 Last year I test knit the Mid Mountain Pullover by The Bluebird Box. I’ve had a long love affair with colourwork, but I have to say, this is the best. Such a well-designed knit!
The Nachtschatten cardigan is on my wish list 🥚Congrats on hitting 5k followers!
🥚I’m currently knitting the Nordstrand by Filcolona. A free pattern. It’s looking so good.
🥚Favorite color work sweater I've made is Goldwing by Jennifer Steingass. I'm also in Tennessee, so I'm still waiting for a cold enough day to wear it!
Debbie, I don’t know about where you are but in Nashville the cold has arrived 🥶
I am currently enjoying knitting the Frame Your Face cowl by Andrea Mowry. It's my first real colorwork project. I would love to knit Fern & Feather by Jennifer Steingass.
🥚Absolutely I will have to say The Twigs by Junko Okamoto. I've knit it once and will knit it again in another yarn. It's at a fingering gauge, but so worth the effort! As I'm watching this I'm working on the Foxthoughts Pullover by Hiroko Payne, which is also a master piece in design.
Oh wow!! I feel like I would need to up my color selection game to cast on the Foxthoughts. It is incredible!
@@Knitweekend It took me a while before I felt brave enough to tackle this pattern. What I love about it is that I felt like I would learn a lot from making this project and so I did.
🥚I love the Autumn Alpine by Caitlin Hunter. My husband is getting me yarn for the project as a Christmas present. Congrats on over 5K subscribers.
🥚my favorite colowork pattern is the fairy lights sweater!
The jumper you're wearing has a lovely neckline 🙂
🥚 Hinterland by J Steingass. 🎄
So many favourite colourwork patterns! I’m doing the Halibut pattern by Caitlin Hunter for my husband. Also saw a gorgeous Norwegian pattern yesterday on Instagram that I fell in love with: The Lundy Jumper by Knit one purl one!
🥚 I love the Lotus Cardigan by Zaneteknits❤❤❤. Congratulations 👏
🐣(ack! I just posted on the wrong video! I watch from my TV, so commenting is a rarity for me.) Favorite color work is the only color work I’ve done, Jennifer Steingass’ Fern & Feather. 😊
Haha! Technology… thanks for making the extra effort!!! 🤗
🐣(somehow I thought this egg would be painted, but I can give you this cutie or a fried one 🤷🏼♀️) Okay, the ONLY color work sweater I’ve done is Jennifer Steingass’ Fern & Feather. I knit it in Berroco Pima 100, and I love it! I’m currently test knitting the Petals & Lace by Erika Field, so I’ll let you know if that one surpasses the Fern & Feather. 😊😊😊
I really hoped there was a colorful Easter egg too, but all eggs count. Fried, Hatching or Nesting. 🤗🤗🤗
🐣🥚 I have dove into color work much as an English knitter and have not fig out how to have dominant color work. I’m going to go back and read your previous episode comments. I have made my husband a Star Wars beanie that we designed…it turned out pretty good, but I def need more prac before I start a sweater.
I think you’ll find the tips super helpful!’
🥚Polina Pullover 💞
🥚I've only done two colorwork projects so far, but I love my saskie mittens. I'm eyeing the chestnut cardigan, but that might be too ambitious.
🐣My favourite colour work pattern is the Birkin sweater by Caitlin Hunter although I have yet to knit it. Watching you today reminds me I need to knit the everyday sweater you are wearing 😊
I love the pattern „framed“ I really want to try out knitting a colourwork pattern
I love the Lumme by sari Nordland. I am currently making it
Lovely podcast. I've decided 2025 will be my colourwork year and would love to take on Do Ewe Yoke? by Zanetknits.
🥚🐣 I have recently finished my first colourwork pattern and am itching to cast anothe one! That one will be the mayflower jumper from the petite knitter.
🥚 I just want to shout out the Getter sweater by my fellow Ukrainian designer Greta Majewska. In my opinion it's a highly underappreciated sweater though it was in a Novita magazine issue. I like the look of it and it's been on my list for a while. I just need to gather the courage for a first colorwork sweater 🫣
You can do it!! It’s not as scary as I thought it would be.
🥚my favourite colourwork pattern, although I have yet to know it is the halibut sweater! I have the pattern but I’ve started to overthink my colourwork so I seem to have tension issues now. Thanks for another great episode!!!
Overthinking gets me every time!!
🐣I love the Bethlehem jumper by the petite knitter.
Hi Kelly!! It is stunning and such a modern classic vibe.
🥚 I love Yell Cardigan by Marie Wallin, but I'm not sure if I need to practice a bit more before I give it a go.
🥚I have yet to knit colorwork but two things inspire me to learn: the Agnes Kofta and the Unbearable Hoodie (minus the hoodie for my taste). What a fun episode this was. Just being you is perfect!
Linda!! 🤗🤗🤗 thank you. Any kinda of kofta is a bucket list knit for me too.
🥚 I made the Red Cedar Sweater by Jessica McDonald as my Christmas sweater last year, and I loved knitting the colorwork on it. I absolutely love your Bergman! I actually purchased the pattern last month, and I’m hoping to knit it in the coming year. Thanks for the inspiration!
🥚Choose Your Own Garden by Sarah L Kelly is so much fun because you really get to choose what you want it to look like! I'm following someone's project a bit and extending it into a tunic and its wonderful.
🥚 One color work that I love but find quite intimidating, is the anemone sweater. I’ll wait to have so more experience before trying to make it 🐣😇
