Jason's Cashmere Hat is my go-to gift knit-super fast, fits everyone, and looks really good! Also fun to knit with the cables but not too tricky! Also it's a free pattern!!
Hey Sweetie, John C Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC (a 45-minute drive from us) offers spinning. Sometimes weekends or week-long classes. Spinning your own wool will make you appreciate the finished product. See you Christmas.😉
Yay!!! I will check this out. Not too embarrassed to admit that I was thoroughly confused by “School of Sweet Georgia” at first. I was thinking “I don’t think my cat can teach me to spin.” But then I realized you weren’t talking about my Sweet Georgia Brown. 🤦♀️😆
Jillian Eve has some good spinning videos for complete beginners. Also, Fiber Love Diary is currently working a series about wheel spinning aimed at complete beginners. Soulful Spinning is great for spinning inspiration.
I like to block my hats on a balloon, because you can adjust the circumference to get the perfect fit. As for gift knits I love Ysolda Teague’s patterns. Her northwind headband is cute and Musselburgh is a fun one as well. Also her annual gift knit collections called Knitworthy are great! She released Knitworthy 7 a little over a month ago. Happy knitting❣️
Love Ysolda’s top down beanie collection!! I knit the Forth Hat for my nephew last year. I’m told it gets daily wear. And it went so quickly!! I think I also used that as a starting place for a hipster over-the-ear beanie my husband requested.
Always a pleasure to see you pop up in my feed. I have tried blocking my hats over a balloon and honestly not sure results were any better. I’ve made a lot of Oslo mohair hats and musselburgh hats. Intrigued with the Manhattan hat. Also planning on a vest take care til next time
Oh Mary, Thank you for such kind words!! I really enjoyed the Musselburgh hat. Have yet to make an Oslo hat… pretty sure I’m the last knitter on the planet who hasn’t. And I do love a good vest or Slipover!!
Loved spending some time with you this morning, and especially loved seeing your childhood photos and sweater! For slouchy hats, I use a bowl or balloon and for close-fit beanies I just block them flat. The Mota is classified as DK based on yardage per weight, but is woolen spun so that’s why it knits up as a worsted. I’ve actually just picked some up for a worsted weight cardigan. Talk soon! Mia ❤
A wealth of knowledge as always, Mia!!!! 🙏🙏🙏 Good to know about the Mota. It was my first time working with it and I probably should have done a wee bit more research. BUT at least I went with a small project with plenty left for future swatching!!
I’m have knit some Musselburgh hats, Clara’s mittens, and an Oslo hat. And I’m planning on knitted some twisted mittens and pilea dk mitts! I just block hats flat.
Love the color of your Moby Slipover! The Sweet Georgia Brown investigation was too funny. I hope your bite has heal though. Tetanus shots are never fun.

I always block my hats on balloons. It works perfectly!
I bought a simple hat form in styrofoam for blocking hats. Inexpensive and easy. Love your podcast!
So sorry to hear of your mothers passing. Wishing you peace. Beautiful work!
Hi Anne! Thank you so much. 🤗
Love love these pictures of little Hailey! Precious.
Ha! I thought it would be fun to share.
I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom. I also lost my mom this August. I pray for your peace.❤
Thank you. Hope you’re finding moments of peace and joy even as you mourn her loss 🙏
I love the way you shared gift knits 😂❤
I wonder if they did watch 🤔

@@Knitweekend OMG. I am laughing. I should have clarified 🤣😆 I’m not sure the cat would be too helpful.

You just reminded me that i'm so behind on gift knits lol! also, I second the Soulful Spinning channel rec. Lisa is one of my fav's to watch! 💕
Thank you, Madison!! I got off to a good start, but I’m bogged down now….
I really like your natural kind of doing the podcast and your Moby Slipover looks wonderful.
That’s very sweet of you to say. I’m super pleased with my Moby too. I hope you’ll come back for more episodes. 🤗

I enjoyed seeing your photos. A gift knitting pattern suggestion is the Barnacle Stitch Slipper Socks. I've knit 6 pairs, 1 for me and 5 for gifts.
Thanks for this suggestion!! I’ll look them up. Our family loves cozy feet for the cabin in the Fall.

Thanks for your podcast! You kept me company today while knitting!
Oh Jennifer you are so welcome! Thank you for spending some time with me. I hope you had a productive knit moment.
I love your gloam ! What a great transition piece.
Thank you!! I’m wearing it today actually!!

Hoping to make modern argyle cowl in a week for my mom❤ we will see if I can knit it that quickly

I will definitely check out these mittens! I love to gift mittens. Thank you!!!
I would think the Friend to Friend by Leslie Friend would be a great knit for your temps!
I will check it out! Thanks!! 🤗
For spinning, go to The Woolery in Frankfort KY.
I was checking out their website just the other day! They aren’t too far from me either.
You should be proud of those side seams 11:45
It’s the small things 💁♀️
I block hats by soaking and laying flat. Favorite gift knitting is Turkish bed socks that use under 200 yards of sport. Have fun!!
Thank you!! That’s how I’ve blocked them in the past too. I will check out the socks!
I’m gift knitting a Jason’s Cashmere hat. It’s a free pattern on Ravelry. A quick and fun knit.
I'm knitting up penny gloves for gift knits ❤
Oh that’s great! What yarn are you using?
@@Knitweekend I'm using some Yorkshire spinners dk 😍
Love the color of your Moby Slipover! The Sweet Georgia Brown investigation was too funny. I hope your bite has heal though. Tetanus shots are never fun.
Oh my goodness! It was quite an event. Not even sure why she saw red. But yes I’m okay now. Other than the mental trauma 😅
Sweet Georgie Brown is entitled to have union representation should HR conduct an investigation. 😀
Please do not encourage the poor behavior of your grandpets, Dad. But thanks for watching!! Love you!
