Merry Christmas Becca, thanks for the videos in the last year. Looking forward to your adventures in 2025
Thank you 🙏 for watching and taking the time to leave a comment here. 🐏🌲❄️
How lovely! I did a breed study a while back, but it was mostly combed top. I love the carded prep that you received from your mill. Gosh, I’m so tempted to place an order. Do they ship to the US, do you 🤔 think? I’ll be following you in the coming year for sure. Take care and a very Happy Holiday to you and your family!
Thank you 🙏.. on the subject of the fleece I'm super impressed by what I received. Because of Bexit it is now easier to ship to the states than Europe so they might well do . They are on IG and Facebook so I'm sure if you DM them they will give you a quick answer. They are a very interesting company. Thank you for your kind words and season's blessings to your family 🙏🐏🏴
I am a relatively new spinner and have become so interested in learning about our native sheep breeds so will be following your spinning life with great interest Becca. Thank you so much and happy Christmas and a happy 2025!
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I am really looking forward to spinning breeds I have never spun before. Happy spinning 🙏🐏
Have a great festive season Becca….. Think of us downunder in the summer heat eating our fares 🙄🙄🤣
Thank you 🙏 I hope the weather is kind to you and you get to enjoy some crafting time.
Love your channel
Thank you for taking the time to let me know 🙏🐏
I am looking forward to seeing all those fleeces up close and personal. Do you know if, historically, they were used for clothing, given that many of them are coloured? I was intrigued to hear that you had a strong preference for the Ashford traditional over the Louet. I've only ever spun on an Ashford traditional, so I can't make any comparisons. Did you have a different tension system on the Louet? I hope you have a happy and safe Christmas and New Year. Oh, and totally off topic, I loved the china and ceramics on the dresser behind you in this video.
I am so excited to share more about all these breeds . There is no short answer to your question about what the different breeds were used for. There is good evidence for the Boreray being used to make sails for Viking long ships . A lot of Welsh breeds were used to weave into flannel which was used for clothing. One of the reasons I am writing a website again,! Is to have somewhere to keep all this information. Rather than just have it rattling around in my head. On the subject of my Louet it was a double treadle with scotch tension. We just didn't click. I love my old trady. She is so easy to work with. Thank you for all your support and wisdom over the last year. Nadolig Llawen🏴 and a happy new year 🐏🙏
What a great idea to spin a new, rare bred every few weeks. The year I had balance for my word, the most unbalanced year I had, but I know you’ll do better. 😊 I need to give some thought to my 2025 word. Merry Christmas!
I'm so to hear your year was out of balance. I hope 2025 is all you wish for. 🙏🐏
Thankyou Becca for taking the time to post yet another video. The fleece looks gorgeous, I can’t wait to see what it’s like spun up. Hope you and Andrew have a lovely Festive break.
Thanks so much 😊 . I love sharing with other fiber folk that get how exciting new fleece is 🐏🙏
I love spinning, it is my happiest place of all the things I do. My most favourite is wheel spinning but I also enjoy supported spindles (much more so than drop spindles). Have a great Welsh Christmas!
Nadolig Llawen 🏴, I have never tried a supported spindle. I have been toying with the idea of spinning some flax on a drop spindle and a hand held distaff but I think a supported spindle might be a good option. Food for thought thank you 🙏🐏
@@cathrynwood6072 Thank you Cathy 🙏.
Merry seasons thingy Becca have a good one !
@m.5018 Thank you 🙏🐏
Hope you have a good Christmas.
Thank you. Nadolig Llawen to you 🏴🐏

Thank you for the very lovely trip. Wonderful to see a place I’ve never been
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video 🙏
Poor Andrew,we didn;t see him : {
Andrew doesn't really want to be in the videos . You get to see him as much as he is happy with.
Lovely part of the world. A good idea to find a suitable comfortable, cottage to use as a home from home when going back for visits.
It was a fun trip I am glad you enjoyed the video 😊
What a surprise treat down memory lane. We got married in 1972 and Weston Super Mare was our home for 2 years. Glad you got to meet up with the family after so long. Your posting are never boring as you always seem to find time to film whatever you are doing. Thankyou
I am glad you enjoyed the video. Andrew is very patient with me always walking around with a camera and helps me behind the scenes so much. Thank you for watching 🙏
Look forward to your journalling as I've just taken it up too. I feel my tiny cottage would fit in the garage I had when I lived in America, so relate completely to your situation, but oh! the temptation at Paul Sartori and the Garage Sale was immense!
I hope you are finding your flow with journaling. I have not really built the habit yet.
Enjoyed seeing an area I’ve never been to. I can imagine so busy in summer. Thanks Becca. 🏴
I'm glad you enjoyed the video 🙏
I am regretting committing to Blogmas for the very same reasons. Here in Tyddewi our weather is very different, even to Solfach just 3 miles away. The land here is so beautiful this time of year, even when the weather is dire. Loved having this little visit this morning.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. What is your blog called. I would love to check it out .
We used to live in Plymouth - and like you, avoided all the areas frequented by grockles in the summer, but loved having it to ourselves in winter.
Oh for sure. I've swapped one tourist area for another. I love the winter here too.
A trip down memory lane for me! I was born in Somerset and knew the area very well. Haven’t been back for several years now though. Glad you enjoyed your break away.
Thank you 👍. I lived most of my life in Somerset and a lot of my family still do so it was great to visit some old favorite places.
The music you had at the beginning of this video really spoiled it for me, I have sensory issues with whistling. So that was a dive onto the mute button. Then the combination of camera and outdoor light flickered. After that, I was O.K., but it definitely set things off on the wrong foot.
Oh I'm so sorry. I will keep that in mind when I am picking music.
This was such a treat to see the amazing landscapes. Thank you so much for sharing.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it 🙏
Oh my goodness, that cake looked amazing!
It was sooo good ☕🧁
Hi Becca, it's such fun to see the Gorge through your video! Living in Glastonbury I come through here with some regularity, but I'm always the driver, so I can't look around as freely as you can do. It is truly majestic there and a video can never do it justice. However, since I know it, I can also imagine how high those rock walls really are and how wild it can look at this cold and wintry time of the year. Thank you so much for taking us along!
I'm really happy that you enjoyed the video. Yes it's very difficult to show the Gorge in all it's true wonder in a video recorded on a phone .I am so pleased you enjoyed being a passenger rather than a driver. 🙏
Great scenery, thank you.
I am so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching 🙏
Ahh something completely different 😊… but just as lovely .
@m.5018 Thank you 🙏. I am glad you enjoyed it ☕
Hello - I'm in the US and we call them thrift stores too. Now, moving on ... After fifty-two years of customer service (various jobs within state government), I retired one week ago. I've been sewing since I was twelve and have a beautiful room set up with everything I need. Working a full time job with a daily and hourly schedule, has caused me to lose my sew-jo. I just go into the room to sit and look around now. My desire was to sew everyday after retirement, but I don't know where to start. What ideas do you have to correct my problem? I'd love to get your thoughts. Thanks!
Congratulations on your retirement. How lovely to have a sewing room. I think making yourself a new daily routine would be helpful. Fill your day with things you love doing and include an hour a day when you are in your sewing room. Give yourself mini projects to start with. I am looking at some charity sewing projects to help me build up my sewing muscles. I find a little project that I can finish quickly very motivating. Before you know it you will be wanting to have more than an hour a day in your sewing room. Good luck with your sewing adventures and thank you for subbing.
@@bybeccalewis Thank you sew much for replying and giving me great ideas! Today, I actually spent most of the day in that room, just rearranging, moving and emptying containers that have been sealed forever and a day. I even found some new things I'd forgotten that I bought. It felt freeing to have some of the burden off the list. The big stuff is done so I may go back in tomorrow to finish up with the little things. I will surely start with a small project and grow from there. I have lots of fabric to choose from and my DH says I have more than the fabric store. lol Again, thank you!
I am looking forward to join you at least on one breed - Though I am not sure if it is white or grey Faced Dartmoor. This Summer we visited dartmoor and Stades at Marylou who gifted me a peace of one of her Fleetes from Last year. ☺️🎉 She has a really nice flat, that you can Rent in the middle of the national Park 😍
Fantastic. I will be back with more spinning after Christmas. 🐏
Your lip balm looks wonderful. And I hope that's the last winter storm, you really don't need them.
Thank you 🙏
Good to know storm left you unscathed was thinking of you this morning as we began to feel it a little too. Not anything like wind speeds you had but fairly gusty and bitter cold. Lip balm looks good enough to eat 😊.
Thank you 🙏. I'm glad you enjoyed the video 🐏🌸
Hi Becca, Your storms are incredible especially the big seas! Hope everyone is safe there. Hopefully the winds will drop soon for you. We have an open fire too but we only use it in the colder months where it gets down to single digits here occasionally plus firewood is not cheap either. I enjoyed your lip balm recipe and how easy it was to make. Would love to try it at some stage just for myself. Hope you are enjoying your book and staying safe there. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you I am glad you enjoyed the video.
It’s been really wild here in Conwy. I haven’t been outside.
Stay safe Jenny. 🌸
I`m glad you`ve survived the storm. It was pretty windy up here so I did as I was told and stayed indoors. I lost power for a while, but it`s back now. The wind seems to be dropping now so hopefully that`s that worst over.
I'm glad to hear you are safe . Yes I think the worst is over.
Thanks for showing us the lip balm. Really glad that you’re safe from the storm. It was bad enough here in Leicestershire, it must have been really frightening in some places. X
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yes it must have been a very frightening night for some folks. Very grateful to have got off so lightly.
I've just found your channel and am enjoying your videos very much. You asked about other people's experience with processing fleece so I thought I'd add mine! I've been spinning for over twenty years, just for fun. My second fleece was a beautiful Gotland from the Isle of Skye which I prepared with a dog comb and lots of patience, it was well worth it. But what I really want to say is that, although drum carders are very expensive, they can change your spinning life! Maybe ask family and friends to contribute in lieu of Christmas/birthday gifts and buy the best you can afford. I rarely use mine for blending, just for carded batts to spin from. I'm very fortunate in having a sheep-owning friend who supplies me with fleeces regularly, therefore I rarely buy roving or other prepared fibre so i don't really know the price, but if you love spinning and processing fleece I'm sure you'll never regret buying a drum carder. If you do, there's always a secondhand market for these things so you'd probably recoup most of the money ( as long as you looked after it !)
Thank you for watching 🙏. I really enjoyed preparing this fleece and I am seriously considering buying a drum carder. I've been eyeing possible options online. So glad you are enjoying my videos .
Music was too much!!!

Becca, Got our calendar today from Zazzle. It's LOVELY!!!! Tell Andrew how brilliant the images are. It will be fun to see these this year. Very good customer service from Zazzle too btw.
I so please you like it. I am very glad you found Zazzles customer service to be good. I always find them helpful. Thank you again for your support.
Move your camera much slower, please.
Sorry about that.
Wadding to go between the layers of fabric is a lot softer and drapery, I agree with earlier comment what you have looks more like the stuff used to give bags etc structure. Love the video, other peoples charity shops always look more interesting than the local ones somehow. Congratulations on your haul🙂
@@janewardle5558 Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed the video 🙏
I would make a tote bag with the wadding. It would be perfect!!
@@conniehubbard2142 thank you for the tip 🙏
