What Does a Trump Win Mean for Public Transport?
If you’ve turned on the TV, or connected to the internet in the past month, you’ve surely noticed that Donald Trump has won the 2024 US presidential election.
The Republican Party has also won control of the US Senate, and the House of Representatives too, meaning that Republicans have a simple majority control of the government.
In this video, we’ll take a look at what this could mean for American public transport.

How Terrible Land Use Ruins Cities

Что за бред несет это человек.
You know Czech is looking good right about now *thinks*
😂
What kind of expert are you? What are your credentials? Have you driven in FSD 13?
You operate a car with only two eyes.
Most want mass transit. It shouldn’t cost 10 times more to build than other developed countries per mile. Likely transit and even highway projects have money laundering.
Taking cars away from Americans is impossible (in except of NYC)
Yes, no more tax billions wasted to transport paupers for free. Be ready to pay by yourself, in rural or in dense city. And do not try to refer to Asian or European ultradense living.
A Prague kindred spirit. Keep up the good work. Maybe one day we can bike safely in our city. Got an e-bike to cover the hills for my commute to work and back, so the hill aspect is not an impossible obstacle (and to be fair - I take the longer hilly route mostly so I that can keep out of the traffic).
Americans will forget what the term public transport even is...
The folks who wrote some of the agenda have already forgotten; to them rideshares are examples of public transport.
Regardless of who is in power they always seem to have forgot.
California High Speed Rail is a Joke. Look at the numbers not through a magnifying glass of your goals. What low level content, another European throwing stones from a glass house.
Oo someone's pissed😂
It all is. They decide to make high speed rail without actually attacking the real cause of car dependency.
@@AbrahamCasillas-t3o oh yeeees. Classical whine about car dependency. Who needs such a bs like freedom, flexibility, independency when they can get trough, stable and lifestock truck!
@@antontsau I can't even tell if you are being serious or not.
@@AbrahamCasillas-t3o absolutely serious. But those who has no idea of independency and freedom can not understand it at all.
7:10 Mikulovice - Głuchołazy?
It is a compete WASTE of taxpayer dollars to provide rail to the literal middle of nowhere so that 34 people in Iowa can get toChicago faster. They don’t have to live there, the consequences of that decision are not my burden. Don’t like it, move, not my problem. High speed rail in California has cost 8x the original amount and will take 4x longer than originally planned. The sa the has the biggest economy in the world and a $200+ billion budget, it could easily afford the cost on constructing the entire line, why should I, in Montana, pay for rich Hollywood elites to travel between SF and LA when I get nothing in return? The reason why claiming that it is okay that public transport loses money is a false duality is because you end up with a money pit. Then, you end up with something called government capture. Oh you want to build a new train lie? Great, there’s only one Union-$178 million/‘mile and it’ll take 19 years. If states want continued Amtrak service to paces in the make of nowhere, they can pay Amtrak to run the trains. If they can’t afford it, I don’t care, but I REFUSE to pay for it. Just like how I REFUSE to pay for fat and poor people to get healthcare. There is no benefit to me at all to justify the expense in my taxes.
Bad bait, get good.
By that logic, why do we have interstates and highways? Interstates are a form of publicly funded transit that don't turn a profit. They also cost a lot to build and maintain, just like rail.
It wouldn't be a waste of money if they started to get rid of car dependency. And if you are talking about dollars being wasted on rail that generally has to be laughable.
@@Luddenburger interstates make economy working. Paupers trains - do not.
@@antontsauRight because no cargo moves by rail, only by trucks on the interstate. Tell that to the people who commute regularly between and within big cities like on the Northeast Corridor, or between Milwaukee and Chicago, or within Chicago itself on Metra.
This is basically a propaganda video against Elon Musk. But it’s not like the Democrats didn’t have their own conflicts of interest in government as well, just look at Ukraine.
So public transport does not necessarily make a profit. Are we to now require the armed forces to make a profit...?
To answer your title in a word “disaster“. Expect any future funding plans from the Biden administration to be cut. Sad but likely true.

Thank you for shining a light on the incoming cucarachas that will be running this government for the incoming orange one. Their goal is to defund all train and bus transportation in favor of cars only. They wouldn't care if DC, Philly, New York City, Boston and Chicago were to drown in cars. 😠😡😡🤬

The only way Trump will take Transit serious is if someone baits with how much more advanced China is in that aspect.
They already know it, they don't care. They have people in the cabinet who think that public transportation is for losers, they don't understand the concept of public service either. In fact, they live apart from society, they don't go out on the street or interact with anyone, they don't have to travel every morning to go to work or do anything for themselves, etc. And on top of all that, they have plugged in a billionaire who is an enemy of public transportation, who thinks that sharing space with other people is annoying and dangerous, and that the train in particular is an obsolete means of transportation... and his fortune depends on selling fucking cars. On the other hand, the railroad industry (which provides technology, construction, and rolling stock) in the United States is dead, and what little remains is decades behind what is currently offered in the international market. And their policy and way of creating public works projects is literally ruinous and obsolete, they build very very expensively and also deliver very very very late.
@@kaekae4010i think they understand it well, but see public transport as „leftist nonsense”, and thus want to defund it

Tofu dreg trains are not something to emulate
1) Education comes first. Don't worry, take care. :) 2) Trump sees everything as a business. Geopolitical alliances, healthcare, now the postal service... it is no surprise he sees transportation the same way. 3) I'm sooo happy NYC is going forward congestion pricing.
3) It will not make any difference until there is a viable alternative. Here in The Netherlands there is an ongoing struggle to get "rekening rijden" implemented; a system that would charge you extra for every mile you drive. The problem is that basically every company already refunds the cost of driving to work so they would just refund the additional charge too. And if they add a toll on some road, people will simply avoid that road. The *only* way to reduce traffic, and I do mean the *only* way, is to provide an alternative. Good public transport. Sadly that is expensive, it's much more profitable to tax drivers.
4) Trump's DOJ probably will sue New York State to remove the congestion tolls on the argument that it hinders interstate traffic and commerce.

I think that people will rather travel 3h by pendolino than 2h by HSR for five times the price. People dont realise that high speed train tickets are more expensive than airplne tickets. If it isnt cheap, the trains will run empty with billions in losses and millions in benefits for the managers of ČD 🙂

Technically with the FSD 13 update Tesla is now a level 3 autonomous vehicle. You don’t have to touch the steering wheel or pedals for any part of the drive.
Sure, call it a level 3 autonomous vehicle. But the reality remains the same, Tesla is promising to deliver a fully autonomous taxi service next year, but they are still to receive state approval anywhere in the world. It could be because Chinese and Western officials are trying to stop Musk because they are woke and corrupt, or simply because the no-Lidar approach is failing , doesn't really matter. Whatever the reason, Mercedes, BMW, Geely, Waymo and Zoox are clearly winning this race at the moment. All of the cybercab promises are happening while Tesla's competitors are actually operating autonomous taxis in the public. Tesla is now expanding the project to include some sort of bus? They are seemingly already losing the race, and have somehow decided to start competing in the heavy-segment where Mercedes, Scania and Volvo have been operating autonomous trucks and buses on actual roads for half a decade. Coming from the perspective of an engineer in the automotive segment, with no interest at all in the stock markets, it looks like Tesla is promising a lot when you consider what they've actually delivered.
The tech is there in the Tesla just go watch an fsd video
Just like cybertruck was a fraud?
I saw this at the LA auto show. 😂😂😂 it looked like someone made it at in their garage. The wheels and tires looked like someone took spray paint to them. 😂😂😂
Greedy Musk rushes his cars into production. They're defective and are responsible for horrific injuries and deaths.
I think Basel also has some sorts of Tram-Trains.
This video isn’t aging well at all already!!! FSD 13 is absolutely amazing and is capability complete. The levels that you are basing this video on are an absolute joke. If you truly believe what you say in this video you should short Tesla stock and make big money when Tesla gets exposed.
Cool video, although the choices seem very random. Addis Ababa Light Rail has the infrastructure of a (light) metro with grade separation, it doesn't make sense to choose it when you decided against Guadalajara. Alexandria or Tunis would seem more obvious choices, or even Algiers or Casablanca. But you got here a lot of room for exploration, next it could be a video for each continent comparing different systems.
