    Awesome video! The trolleybuses are incredible and the future rail connection will be super beneficial. The thing that slightly bothers me with the trolleybus is the lack of luggage racks. You'd think with a route dedicated to transferring passengers to the airport, they would have those.

      Yeah, that is quite strange, considering that the Airport Express line mentioned in the video does have luggage racks

    The comfort of the 59 airport trolleybus is insane (dynamics, silence, smooth overall). I would not mind taking it for 10 more years. The only thing that is a minus is the amount of transfers with luggage, typically you need to make 2-3 to reach the other half of the city.

      Yeah, the transfers are.. not good💀
      but I agree that line 59 is very comfortable to ride

      Does make me wonder how much cities have a line 100 running to an airport, back when Groningen still had an airport bus it was also line 100.

      budapest also has 100E and 200E (100E goes from the center to the airport and 200E from the first station of the m3 metro (Kőbánya-Kispest) to the airport)

      I think in the majority of the UK airport express bus lines following Boeing's naming scheme (i.e. 737/747)

    My city has just 3 buses for the whole region to get to the airport and no rail link. 2 buses from the main city every hour, and 2 every hour from the second biggest city (Slightly different services). None from any other cities but they do go pass to serve smaller notable town passed the airport. Just some increased frequency would really help those routes.
    The airport is close to a mainline but lacks a station and we have no Metro/Tram system. The idea to build the station has been floated for years but after the airport got privatised it even less likely than before. Really shame bc everyone I know drives, gets dropped off, or get a airport shuttle included in the plane ticket (That last one is quiet convenient at least).

      As for why the airport, I find transit to the airport to be an interesting problem with lots of different solutions across the world

    Connection to the airport is really important for tourism, Prague is average I would say, not greate not terrible. What I very liked was metro to airport in Lisbon, what was completely terrible was when I stayed in Riga and there was no way how to get to the airport in early morning, I needed to be there in like 5AM and ordered driver canceled it in like 4AM, so it was really stressfull situation, thankfully, I did some fast googling and I was lucky that I found some driver to get me there, in a city wehre uber and such apps didn't work back in the day.

      Prague definitely doesn't have the worst airport transit, but it should be better, hopefully the rail line won't take 100 years

    The train line from smichov to hostivice should also be extended to the airport for extra capacity with little effort

    Prague, Dublin, Budapest, and Belgrade are the only European capitals to not have railways to their airports...

      @@tilendragar9932 They don't need one. That airport barely gets a million annual passengers. Most ex-Yugoslav cities like Zagreb, Sarajevo, Skopje are capitals but with nothing more than regional-sized airports. I also left off Reykjavik for obvious reasons.

      Bratislava doesn't have one, and it's airport had like 2M+ annual passengers pre-covid

      @@simonmrnka3405 That's not busy either. It only serves budget carriers because Vienna is nearby. It doesn't even have jet bridges.

      @@Aroncsik Vienna pretty much IS the airport for Bratislava, there is no competition at smaller airports, so when you want more options or better prices, you have no other option than fly from Vienna. We have the same problem even in Czechia, Prague is a big city, but still shithole in worldwide comparison. When you want more options, you need to jump on traina and go to Vienna, Berlin or Warsaw to their airports.

    I wonder how long those fabulous double articulated trolleybuses have to remain idle at the terminal stops so as to re-charge. It doesn't sound very practical, does it?

      They usually don't stay there very long, since they also charge when attached to the overhead wires located along about 50% of their route

      They are mostly charged en route (dynamically). But even without the wires it would not be more than 10-15 minutes with fast charging.

    I'm excited for the rail link (if I live long enough for that 😂)
    But seriously the NIMBYism in Czechia is insane + it's also allowed/almost as if encouraged by the legislation.
    And it's not only NIMBYism, it's also a kind of hatred for rail projects in Czechia. When a highway is being built, the opposition which often brings up valid concerns, they're called eco terrorists. When a rail project would destroy one man's pickle garden it's in the national headlines and it's treated seriously.
    Not to mention the continuing decades of decay due to underfunding.
    And why? I don't want to be a conspiracist, but there is a certain industry which makes up more than 10% of our GDP, which is notoriously famous for some serious šmelinářství in politics...

      i think it may atleast partly originate in post revolution trying to get rid of all communism (like the fear of government just taking your home forcibly) and imitating west (america)
      for eco terrorists, it's often about how they are portrayed ("an ecological activist blocks construction of an important highway project because of endangered species of butterfly") (or atleast that's what most of people think when thinking about eco terrorists) and something about "rule from brussel" (they must be terrorists from brussel) caring only about nonsese

    Are you sure that the parking in Prague Airport is managed by the airport?
    I ask because the parkings have the same branding, color scheme and marketing of the ones in Milan Linate.
    It would be very unusual to have different companies in "traditional businesses" adopting the same graphics and marketing strategy.
    I think it's more likely that's one of this companies that get concessions of public parkings and facilities that they manage for profit.
    In big cities there is the eternal dissatisfaction related to the various "housing crisises" and raising dissatisfaction about landlords and big corporate landlords.
    I think that those companies are the sneakiest ones as you don't pay large sums but you are nicckled and dimed every single day.
