    I was going to buy a Vivoactive Active 5 but canceled my order to buy the Forerunner 165 (no music). Im not a runner but wanted for walking and hiking. Literally took me 5 days to sift through the watches to figure out which features i needed and the price point willing to pay. Our Canadian dollars are stretched to the max already, and we pay way more for garmin watches unfortunately. $600.00 for the Forerunner 265/s, Forerunner 165 is $330.00 😮

    I like the design of the T Rex 3. It looks different than a lot of others. I bought one with my FSA money left for the year with the ring. I like the ability of being able to switch between watch and ring for different activities. Since I got it, there have been 2 software updates. Hopefully they fix the readiness.

      Both of us talked about quirks in our reviews. That said, the majority of issues actually came about 3 weeks after release in the late Sept timeframe in later firmware updates (most of which were fixed in 1-2 weeks). I dislike the UI, but bugs weren’t actually a major or even minor issue at launch. (-Ray)

    I wonder if you could ask your Garmin contacts for a statement on the ghost cross-country skiing FTP that many people-who have never done the sport-are seeing in the Garmin Connect app. I have it and can provide any info you need. A lot of people in the linked thread are saying it has dragged their cycling FTP down, so it's quite impactful. For my part, I've always thought my FTP was very low as reported in Connect (I've been using Garmin for about a year and have always had the XC skiing FTP too), but I had a bike fit and did some intervals as part of that, and the fitter was convinced my FTP was about 60 points higher than what I told him! As far as I can tell, this issue has been ongoing for about three years, with no statement or fix from Garmin. It's pretty frustrating, to say the least! forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mobile-apps-web/f/garmin-connect-mobile-ios/295578/ghost-ftp-for-cross-country-skiing-never-ever-started-an-activity?pifragment-1286=5#pifragment-1286=1

    I like how you reviewers find the smallest quirk with a $300 watch but you kinda forget to mention all the bullshit with a $900 Garmin Fenix. As Sn who has owned Garmin Fenix for about 5 years, I can tell how frustrating and inaccurate Fenix is! I guess getting free Garmins, and affiliate links is way more profitable than a Chinese $250 watch.

    Awesome, collaboration, also folks it is very clear that these guys don’t cater to the brands they are fair as you can see there was a lot of push by Wahoo about the new device, and it is nice to see a fair review of this device because I was thinking of getting it despite having a 1050, it’s great to be professional and not mean and just offer an honest review. Also, your collaboration together is very insightful and nice to see. One request for non-beginners, but not professional, as far as ecosystem goes, which combination of devices would offer the best ecosystem coming out of the gate?

    Wahoo Ace is way too big/expensive in my opinion. Why would you need a 25 hour battery? I've done a non stop 30 hr ride from one side of Michigan to the other then back using the original bolt. My top tube bag has a lip stick battery that can be plugged into the unit when needed and the Bolt beeps when I need to turn. If I get lost I pull the phone out of the back pocket. If the bolt could hold my music 90% of my riding would be without the phone and all the data that these things collect is viewed after the ride.

    I mean you could also say that Garmin benefitted by your two not generating content on the Amazfit back when the fenix 8/enduro 3 launched. We arent talking about folks in the garmin ecosystem with flagship $1000 watches making the switch, but you better believe there are plenty of consumers watching your stuff debating a forerunner 265 vs T-Rex. I think it would be unfair to say they don’t support the watches for very long. The Falcon, Trex Ultra, Cheetah Pro all just got Zepp OS 4. Better than Garmin not releasing their new software on the Fenix 7 and Epix Gen 2 for no reason since they are basically the Fenix E

    One other thing I noticed - why would it be strange that the T-Rex gives you a readiness score without a sleep record? A Garmin does the exact same thing! When I don't wear my Instinct 2X (or any other Garmin that I owned over the years) at night, it will still give me a readiness score 😂. How is that a problem on an Amazfit but not on a Garmin? Not even mentioning the bad sleep tracking on Garmins in general or the ridiculous sleep schedule that only works for children who have to be in bed at the same time each day. No offense, I love both your channels but you really need to take off the rose tinted Garmin glasses. Garmin has problems for years because they simply rested on their laurels for way too long.

    • @thefitfile
      @thefitfile 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Garmin devices don’t give a training readiness score without sleep. They’ll give jobs general category (eg high), but not an actual score. As for me, the father of 3 little girls that always find ways to break my sleep - I simply don’t have issues with the sleep tracking, especially in the last 2-3 years where it’ll easily now catch things like going back to sleep at 5-6am that it previously didn’t. (-Ray)

    • @MrSeedi76
      @MrSeedi76 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@thefitfileit still doesn't matter for the recovery time on a Garmin if you sleep or not or wear it while sleeping. The recovery times on the Garmins are a guess at best. See my other comment. If you just take a tiny break or use the elliptical for a couple of days - the recovery time on a Garmin is completely ridiculous. That's a simple fact. BTW - I'm not even an Amazfit fan boy but I've used Garmins long enough to know that there metrics are highly problematic and often not more than guesswork. And there are a lot more things that other brands simply can do better. Sleep tracking isn't the only issue.

    • @jjjuhis
      @jjjuhis 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

  • @MrSeedi76
    @MrSeedi76 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

    When it comes to the readiness score - I normally run 10k for six times a week with Sunday off. When I switched to the elliptical for 4 days because of some muscle strain, after I started running again and did my usual 10k which wasn't a problem at all, my Garmin claimed I needed 3 days of rest after that 😂. So much for "superior" metrics on Garmin. The training readiness is absolutely useless IMHO. In regards to heart rate - so far I only tested the older Cheetah Square by Amazfit and used my Garmin Instinct 2X on the other wrist - the Cheetah annihilated the Garmin when it comes to the reaction time and precision of the heart rate sensor (it was obvious because of the elevation profile of my run which has lots of uphill and downhill passages and the heart rate graph on the Cheetah matched those perfectly while the Instinct 2X missed some of the peaks). For me as a hobby runner - Amazfit is a Garmin killer. And just for reference - I used Garmin products for years and had /have Fenix 1, Forerunner 25, the old Vivoactive, Instinct 1, Fenix 7 Pro and 7X, Instinct 2X.

    Considering that my Garmin thinks I'm still sleeping while I'm making coffee - even the humble Huawei Fit 3 for 140€ has better sleep tracking than a Garmin 😂.

      I think that for 20 minutes, Garmin allows for the possibility that you may only be awake temporarily to go to the bathroom, deal with a crying baby, etc and will go back to bed. After 20 minutes, it will go back and edit your sleep times for when you did get up.

    Great review. Thank you ❤ I switched to the 1050 and I think I will keep that for the next few years. The screen is just awesome for my aging eyes.

    Sadly nobody talks about how bad written the Garmin software is currently...

    23:50 for sure they escaped hype of Black Friday to stand out with release in media. And they know that it's not ready for sales so it would be disaster

    I had the TREX 2, and I loved it: except for one major quirk, and that had me go back to Coros. It does not send elevation data to Strava forcing Strava to use inaccurate Topo data to define elevation. When you’re training for a vertical ultra race, not having your Strava data be accurate was a big beef of mine. Even though the Zepp app shows the data correctly, having one place like Strava for all that info across all my watches is still premium for me. I should also say I reached out to Amazfit and they have no current plans to address it even though they recognize it. I so badly wanted to get the TREX3 2 years later with the hopes they addressed this: nope! Same answer from them.
