I’m lucky I guess, I’m retired military (which you know from the chat we’re in) and live next to my first training base. We have a GameStop on that base and I’m friends with the manager, he runs a great store and I still get some pretty good deals. I have a local GameStop in town as well and the manager there, she’s very nice and knowledgeable with a decent staff and not a bad retro area in the store (although not an official retro store) and I’ve found some good games at pretty good prices. It sucks you’ve had bad experiences especially this experience and I’m sure more people have as well, but there are still some good stores out there and I guess we can only hope others will get better with time 🤷🏼‍♂️

Yeah, that adding coverage plans when I didn't ask for them pissed me off and it has happened to me a couple of times it honestly seems to be individuals trying to pull that stuff to pad numbers. It's unfortunate that you gotta watch that terminal like a hawk so they don't slip anything additional in.

they also completely remade eternal night to be on the ds, even kept the 3d! it’s a lot better than new beginning or shadow legacy(on the ds)

I had a great interaction last time i went into gamestop. I bought a ps5 and a game online. Then realized i bought the digital console so i wouldnt be able to use the game on it. I called my local gamestop, they got my online order and had jist packaged it up. Long story, short, i was able to prevent them from shipping it to me, pay the extra 50 bucks at the counter and walk out with a disc version of the console and the game. Pretty hassle free. First time ive been into gamestop in probably 5 years or more. Amazing how many anime dolls they stock now.

Sorry you had that experience. I can’t recall exact details, but I went there once somewhat recently (I think it was to buy Jedi Fallen Order) a few months after it came out. I bought it at full price. After maybe a week went by I decided I didn’t like the game, so I went to return it. But because GameStop was running a discount on the game when I went in, they said they couldn’t refund my purchase of the full price game. So I just decided to hang onto it. That was my “nail in the coffin” experience with them. And I still don’t like the game.

Look people have been s******* on GameStop forever. Rightfully so it used to be a cool place to get games and hang out. It has definitely changed over The years. But to be fair, I still like to go in there every now and again and see if they've got a low priced gem on the shelf that I haven't played yet.

This video feels so surreal to me, like it´s from early 2000´s or something. I can´t even remember when the last time was I held a physical disc. We don´t even have those kinds of shops here anymore. It´s kinda sad tbh.

I have a pro membership because the 5 dollar coupons every months pay for membership in free pokemon cards by april. I bought a warranty on joycons because theyre $80 and luckily i did because i broke them (and I'm not kidding about this) 2 days before the warranty expired.

This fake outrage is exhausting. You don't have to take the fury funk for clicks my dude. Thanks for the late breaking news that GameStop is corporate ass. Spoiler alert, always has been. "I miss going in and talking games!" "I DON'T WANT TO TALK" Warranty's are only for pro controllers. Something will break within 2 years,and now you get a $30 controller. Keep that cycle going and never pay more than the warranty for a pro controller again. If you buy a bunch of stuff on steam, or another major digital space, Pro is worth it because the $5 monthly credit applies to gift cards. When they do their pro sale or whatever, occasionally the difference for the pro discount is more than the membership. Otherwise, yeah, who would get that?

Anyone else miss the days when it was kind of fun to walk into a Electronic's Boutique (EB Games) and play demo's of upcoming games, talk about games and maybe even take part in a midnight release? Then the greedy corperate titheads really screwed the pooch (for many reasons). Also I would rather kick a Grizzly Bear in the butt during it's hibernation season than trade any of my older video games at Gamestop...period.

I was lied to by a gamestop employee, just bought a xbox one and needed a rechargeable battery since ive always been PlayStation, they sold me the wrong kind of battery that costed 30 dollars and wont take a return for whatever reason. Had to go to amazon and buy a xbox branded battery that actually works

Last time I went in, the employee auto added the warranty. I said take it off, then asked how many people actually do it. He says people do it all the time. My friend says "yeah, because you sneak it in" The little snake got real quite after that. Also, I don't know how he did it, but he reset my membership like I never had one, since I got setup emails.. for what I already had (not the paid one)

Gamestop closed down in our town by Walmart. They just overcharge people and won't give you hardly any value on your Games. I had a nice gm and staff they all were well educated and big into games and friendly perhaps they relocated but the value system of gamestop I'm not a fan. It definitely can be pricey

I don't understand why people get so triggered by the upsale. All you have to do is say no. The GM was out of line, but you caught it. Awareness is a crucial life skill. GameStop sucks, but we need SOMEWHERE that is focused on games. The pro is 100% worth it, and you can easily game the system to score awesome deals. Just like we have to do with every aspect of our lives these days. 😅

The last several times I went into a GameStop to buy a new game, they had already opened the game. Sorry GameStop, if you open the game, it's no longer new. I ordered about 8 games brand new online from them four years ago around Black Friday, and 7 of them came open. Several of these were gifts. Yeah, it's really cool to show up for Christmas with a wrapped game that isn't sealed. Makes me look like a cheapskate and chump. So again, I haven't ordered from them since. The last time I was physically in the store, it had a bunch of stupid toys, and was dirty, and all the new games were opened up. It was a joke. I can't stand GameStop. As a collector, why would you ever shop there?

Game stop is absolutely terrible to order from online as well. I paid for 1-3 day delivery, after 3 weeks of waiting and watching nothing change on the tracker, I called them, and I'm glad I did because they couldn't locate where the game was. At that point, I just canceled my oder and found the same game for a better price on Amazon. I thought what a huge waste of my time because I could have been playing way sooner, what an inconvenience.

Just sold my PS5 the other day and they wouldn't give me cash. They game me a pre paid credit card. Said I could take it to a ATM and pull out cash with a 5% fee. Lame.

They don’t care. They’re acting in desperation to remain viable because gaming is close to going all-digital. They see the writing on the wall and know that retro is the only way forward for game stores.

Hey Bucky O'Hare how's it goin? Gamestop? Oh yeah about two weeks ago I went in for the first time since early 2019. Awful. But they have always been. Walked in for less than a minute, walked right out. Waste of time. And no the employees don't EVER push me-I look like a guy who doesn't take that crap. That place is a waste of time and space. The way things are going I have decided PS5 is my last console I will ever get-unless Nintendo keeps physical media unlike Sony and the PS5 Con reveal that just occurred. I just buy off Amazon or ebay these days. No small stores in my area any more!

The last time I went to GameStop, the guy tried the classic move of selling me a used copy as new. I was buying a Switch game and he insisted it was new. I asked to see the cartridge and when I turned it over, the gold contacts were all scratched. It takes YEARS of use to wear scratch marks into those contacts in my experience. I asked him how it was new with those scratches and he wouldn't respond. Effing lying scumbag. Why sell your dignity and integrity for a retail job?

No they're not. In fact game stop is amazing place to buy games. Not to sell tho. That employees are pushy some times (yes) i know is part of their job, so that dont bother me. They have great deals all around. Is people like you that fok off the hobby. They are one of tje largest physical games resseller out there. Let see if mom and pop shops like mine could do when theyre gone. Subsist on retro? I dont think so

The gamestop retro is going to fail. Gamestop loves to put out clapped out copies of Ncaa games for $80 a pop. Nobody wants that pump and dump crap. No quality control and the employees have no clue what they are selling. You can find steals there occasionally but it's never a good experience.

I feel ya but I can’t lie I have been loving it. They have freebies behind the counters, I find stuff for less than 50 percent market . I trade in some games for more than I do selling them on eBay. I’m glad I haven’t faced what you have but sorry you have man for real! Some of their games are waayyy marked up. I did have one guy ( was nice ) but was sooo pushy and I just said “ bro stop asking me” however my normal experience has been awesome . Maybe it was that one location man . Some people suck lol
