    Realestates in holiday destinations depreciate a lot when you want to sell. There are always new and better condos are being built. Slim chance to make a calital gain. If you calculate accirding to the number of years you will be staying in the property, you can get a better idea what to do about buying a property in developing countries.

    Will be interesting to see them try to repeal the weed thing, I am indifferent either way, but there are SO many shops, the commercial tenancy rates would tumble, also and I spoke with a German that owns a few weed shops in Bangkok, he said even I they repealed back to medical usage, all that happens is there is a computer with a web cam, on the other end of the web cam is a "doctor" ( and by the barest of legal definitions) who will consult anyone and ask a few questions and within 3 mins give you. a medical prescription..

    What do you think about Thailand's new tax law from January? Now, all money transferred from abroad to Thailand could be taxed up to 35%. Of cause for people who are there for 180+ days per year. It sounds like it could really add to the tax burden in Thailand, not to mention all the extra hassle with tax registrations and returns, right?

    Thanks for sharing these thoughts and tips. Really enjoyed the video, and I agree with trying to find that middle lane and to keep things exciting and fresh. To me, however, the main problem with Thailand are the challenges to do part-time work or to volunteer as a foreigner. It's almost impossible to do those things legally, especially if you want to do multiple ones (for example, volunteer 2 days a week in a hospital, work at a cocktails bar during the weekends and coach a high school sports team 6 hours a week). Those things can be very enriching and missing that element is a cause of both boredom and concern for me. Hobbies, studying languages, working out are all great but they are not completely fulfilling to me. I like your idea of going back and forth between Thailand and home, and take advantage at home of the larger amount of part-time work and volunteering options. That could be a good solution, but not sure if it works for the long term. Anyways, if you have any thoughts or tips about this please feel free to share them :) And thanks for the video again.

    A couple more. Don't retire in Thailand because you're unhappy with your life and think you're going to reinvent yourself. Reinvent yourself first. People who run from their problems tend to leave a forwarding address. If you run to Thailand to avoid your problems you'll still have the same problems plus some new ones. Don't retire in Thailand purely because you think it will be cheaper. Yes it is, but not that much. People who basically live at the poverty line in the US or UK think they can live the high life by moving to Thailand. They are always disappointed.

    I hear the Govt. in Thailand has turned greedy as hell ( ? ) wanting to tax expats out of their money - just to be in the country ! --?-- What the hell is this ? -- They also require large sums of cash deposited in their banks for a simple visa ? - BS 💩-- What the hell have these people been smoking ? - - - I guess I don't understand how Cambodia has no requirements for a retirement visa over 55 to be able to remain in country as long as you like ( ? ) for a mere $180/year ? > PERIOD ! = No 'BS' - like in Thailand ??? 🤔 The Philippines too will allow 3 years on a very simple tourist visa ?!? 😳 One expat who spent 5 years in Thailand just did a budget video for 15 - 20% cheaper near Cebu after 9 months in the Philippines !!! 🙄-- And -- he loves the people there are super friendly + speaking English. You're right - Thailand is NOT our country but considering the stupidity here in poor old Straya , moving elsewhere would be a good thing . Home sick ? yeh , you're right - that would be a factor to consider . My advice - try before you buy ! Live there for a year - see how you go . Thanks for sharing .

Many poeople died of heatstroke already and add pollution into the mix. So your first warning is very appropriate . You're not advised to be outside, restricted inside with aircon . It's a bit like covid lock up situation This is the hottest part of the year,3 to 4 months . Fair warning! .

    I definitely noticed the social safety as I visited a chinese buddhist temple with many artifacts probably worth over 10k each without any form of security at the entrance. I recently had a long distance relationship in which I ignored all the red flags...I met a girl on Vietnam Cupid and eventually went over to VN to meet her and her family. They offered me to stay at their home which i agreed. She and her family started asking me for money from day 2 and on, the dad, mom, and kids all started asking me for gifts and money..They brought me to the mall the store so I could pay for all the things they bought. As far as social media platforms, I logged onto Facebook and anonymously saw her pictures that she posted of places we went together. She never post pictures of me or mentions me in her Facebook....I even bought her a birthday cake and flowers on her birthday and she posted it on facebook and thanked all her family members and left me out. I was a fool caught up in blind love. In the end, i found out she stole money from my backpack, and that was the last straw that ended the relationship...To all the guys out there, don't let this happen to you. Once you notice the red flags, run away as soon as possible before you get swept away emotionally that will make it harder later down the road

  • @PeterReefman
    @PeterReefman หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yeah, can relate to the "Don't escalate" and Muay Thai message! A (fellow) Aussie friend and I were in a bar on our first night in Bangkok (Murray Head starts singing). There was a little disagreement with security and next thing I knew I woke up on the floor, after being king-hit by another. In my blurry vision and ringing ears I saw the original security laying into my friend with a baseball bat, and I heard a Portuguese friend calling something like "Run! A knife! Knife!". I got up and ran outside, but we noticed another security with a knife heading for my friend on the ground, and started yelling at him which luckily made him go away, and went in to help my friend up, and out. By then I noticed blood was all over my face from the earlier hit (to an eyebrow) i'd taken. We found cops who seriously didn't give a damn, and just told us to go to hospital emergency, which we did, and spent the night there. The next day, after seeing the cops again, I negotiated for the bar to pay for my hospital (just some stitches which were pretty cheap anyway) and didn't pursue further, but My friend had a badly broken jaw from the baseball bat, and couldn't close his mouth. He tried to get them to pay for him to fly back to Perth, but they refused, and the cops said no chance as we would never be given a fair trail against locals like that, so he dropped it and flew home. Moral of story. Even if you're pushed around by security, don't retaliate in any way. Just find a friendlier place to enjoy. Thailand's still a great place, and I'd go back again for sure.
