เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 ก.พ. 2021
I am a 4th generation farmer whose initial career choice pulled me far away from the family farm. I bring an engineer's mind to the modern day farm to solve problems and share information....mostly through Vlogging as well as agriculture product reviews. I love to try out new techniques, technologies, products or equipment
Follow me as I document and share my experiences (hopefully more good than bad) as I take over the family grain farm in SE Saskatchewan, maybe we'll both learn a few things along the way! I hope to be entertaining while still being educational and honest.
I'm always open for constructive criticism, comments and questions
I'll do my best to reply to any comments or questions

Grain bags have their place, but bins are better. Finally getting started on building a pad for the first phase.
First year Review of the New Vaderstad Seedhawk: is this the ultimate Drill?

First year under our belt with the New drill, and I loved it. Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying it was perfect, but close. See my feedback on the toolbar, cart and operating system. What I liked, disliked and future options and features.

did you happen to notice how the disc spreaders on the 8250 did compared to your other units? we just bought a 9250 with disc spreaders wondering how its going to be compared to the whale tale spreaders.
@@Cumminsproject01 we found that the discs couldn’t get the distance of the whale tails. In dry wheat it was barely 35’ when I cranked the disks to max. In tough conditions was less than 30. We can easily get 40+ out of the whale tail. Was also very sensitive to the wind. A 10-15 mph cross wind and it was barely clearing the steer tire on one side and beyond the header on the other. I think if I guy was doing corn with up to a 30’ head you’d be fine. Long story short: I was majorly disappointed in it for our operation
@AxiomAcres dang well hopefully my experience is a little better i know on our 9120 the whale tale sucks it spreads far but makes rows so i guess we'll see.
My company just issued me something similar in the oilfield for sand. It's 40 ft with 2 axles and 11r22.5 rubber. I think they told me it's empty tare is 9000#, though I haven't gotten it weighed yet.
@@bensanders7392 I’d believe 9000 lbs for a tandem. It’s been good to us. Had to put a new air dump valve on it, and I got frustrated with the manual roll tarp so I put an electric one on
The shortest of the short lengths, and looks like low walls on the side.
@bensanders7392 hauling frack sand?
Yes. Never been involved with farm work but now that I am getting experience OK this I could be of use to a farmer somewhere. Always better to have more skills and knowledge under your cap.
@bensanders7392 I spent about 15 years in the patch here in Canada as well as the Middle East
Väderstad tweeted the other day that something BIG is coming tomorrow at the Ag in Motion, I wonder what that can be?
@@tsint it’s a 1350. I was on the website last night double checking something and it’s already listed as an option
Next spring hopefully
@@4.4T we’ve owned that land for 26 years. Have only ever seeded that slough once. Usually it’s about 4x bigger than that.
@@AxiomAcres groqing more and more year by year hopefully, fully evens out before the 30 year mark
❤🎉🎉🎉
And Justin Trudeau is trying to have it all banned
Great video Devin
Bin yard is really taking shape nicely. Do you have some construction background? I made a bin yard too. A much smaller one. I had a cat come in and level. Pretty expensive going if you can't do it yourself. So good on you for the nice pad work.
@@thebreakofdon5188 I’ve never run a bulldozer or serious construction equipment, but I like to say “with enough bananas & electricity; you can train a monkey to do anything” and in this case I am that monkey. I’m not afraid to attempt new things and learn new skills. I’ve been around construction works at several of my past jobs (engineer, project manager, site lead) so I have just enough familiarity to make me dangerous
Following the progress of your new bin site will be so cool.
@@glennmoreside787 things happened really quickly. You’ll see that over the next few weeks.
Love them!
Yup. They’re sure cute. The front tabby and the calico mom are the friendly ones. The other two are pretty skittish
Sounds not bad but a few features lacking for sure, even old flexicoil would give meter rpms. Would drive me nuts with some of those features missing on our 91300.
A 91300 bourgault?
I’ve never ran a bourgault. Not a big fan of their metering setup, otherwise they look good. Also like the x35 monitor. I do like the bulk boom and saddle tank. Can’t imagine pulling a BG toolbar around here though
Would love to do a demo and side by side trial
@@AxiomAcres there all the same just depends on your preference, guy just dont like the midrow banders as they are alot of maintenance. The xtc version is the best as it follows the ground. They do have your rpm you can read on the monitor its in the setup along with other options you can view if you want.
@@jared2.028 yes bg. Multi tube metering would be nice for turn compensating but that's about all you lose really. Lots of people call them grinders but any seed damage is actually from the main tower supply tubes. The bg minitors are pretty nice but they are a bit laggy and can only attach one ipad/android tablet at a time
A trick for removing and adding the center wheels is to leave the axles on and just roll them into the slot in the frame with a guy in the cab raising and lowering the header. That way its just one bolt and you don't have to lift a thing.
I’ve gotten to the point where I can set the header at the right height that I can lay on my back, pull the buddies onto my chest and press it in place to get the front pin on my own. I don’t recommend doing it but it can be done on your own
I love all of your videos, but this one has to be right up there. Love the insight into the seeder. Thank you.
They look great, I saw them yesterday they will be a nice addition
Yup. They went up ridiculously fast. Head of the bin crew said “usually we plan for 2 days per bin but that’s depending on weather and ground conditions” they got here Monday at 10 am, left Friday at 11:45 am
What did Davey Crockett say when he looked over the walls of the alamo ?? Who's pouring concrete today ??
Silo?
We’ve got 4 31,000 bushel bins going up
@AxiomAcres heck yeah.....
Yup. Just got construction finished yesterday, still need to bury an overhead line, do electrical and finish the dirt work on the apron
Maybe a bag of cubes on a truck tailgate would work better.
Was the Neighbor’s bull. Was just trying to help. Failed miserably
Esas, són tortillas o són "totopos"...???🥴
I think that's where the expression"bullheaded"comes from!
How does the drill pull straight and not skew sideways with openers not down on one side?
I guess there’s more tension on the toolbar from the tractor and the cart than the side load created by the openers. To be honest….Ive never actually thought about it
Your Dad did a great job seeding Devin
Great job picking rocks Devin
Great video Devin
nice
I like the new mic! 👌👍
Good to know. Unfortunately I scrapped a lot of footage where I was using it. It picks up a lot of sound and I thought it was junk (it’s not good in wind) but I was playing in the video editing software this week and figured out how to clean it up so I expect I’ll be using it more in the future
I don't understand
Heated canola at just the top of the bin and not the whole thing
I hope that's ok! I'm legit stupid when it comes to canola ngl
@Im.k.m.aka.kalaashnikov it’s less bad. Canola’s oil makes it susceptible to spoiling and getting hot (heating) lol. Not sure why but this health canola seems to really want to heat even though I put it in the bins in near ideal conditions Also; There’s nothing stupid about asking questions to gain a better understanding of a subject provided you are doing it with an open mind
That place looks lovely!
Ya thanks for all the chemicals
You’re welcome
As bright as a burnt out light bulb I see😂 give your head a shake and check for rocks😂😂😂

I can't imagine how many acres that will do i buy 1 fifty pound bag and that is morenthan enough for all the acres i sow
If our calibration is correct…200 acres per mini bulk bag
Deeres don’t win from a bull (fendt). I hope your clutch is still good because you are hard on it
Well done Devin
Tough old guy you got there. I once had a bull that took on my loader tractor twice and lost both times he was onnthe truck soon after that
Väderstad is a brand from Sweden !
Väderstad is a brand from Sweden...i see many options from Sweden,,,,
We have vaederstad seed hawk pd100 84FT on our farm in Saskatchewan 😊
84 would be great on about 70% of our land. Would lose some acres on a few fields though. Or would need to push bush
You could go. Oh I dont know, left. Fucking dipshit.
Great video Devin
that's a shit ton of seed per acre.
What rate do you plant durum?
@@AxiomAcres depends on seed count... you must be variable rate farming? I'm assuming you're not planting 132lbs on everything? 132lbs at my seed count this year is 1,300,000 plants... I would guess your mortality is low with the seed hawk? I'm running flexi coil still .... hopefully in a few years I'll have a couple seed hawks
All dry fert going down with drill? Any floating ahead? Keep up the vids I know it’s a grind!
Must be a common problem my 375 small frame just blew flex plate between engine and trans. Five days to get parts
If it ain't Blue , It Ain't New .
Used to load fire tank like that back in the 70ds
Still got tho
If the ground is solid, definitely not, snap the posts like a twig. I've pulled out enough and broke plenty. Best time is spring, when ground is soft. And get a straight pull on them. I wish mine came out that easy.
Ha that's the same way that we do it😅
Works great
Good luck seeding your 2024 crops Devin
It’s been good so far. As long as the weather and equipment holds out, should get done on Wednesday
