Making Handmade Paper - Recycle Paper from Scraps- DIY Paper
Hello everyone!
I'm excited to share another paper-making video with you, following the positive feedback on my previous grass paper video. The main idea here is using materials for paper-making that might otherwise be considered waste or no longer useful. The genesis of this project lies in repurposing shredded paper that arrived as packing material for a ceramic kiln. Join me as I explore unconventional ways to make paper, opting for a blend of creativity and sustainability.
In this video, I guide you through the step-by-step process, from blending the shredded paper into pulp with added pigments for color variation, to choosing the right materials for efficient drying. Learn the practicality of using a thick towel instead of a single layer for optimum water absorption, ensuring the quality of the paper.
Witness the unexpected discovery of sheet racks, repurposed from a previous project, enhancing the drying process. I also share the magic of natural light as I step outside to reveal the true colors of the handmade papers.
Your support means the world to me! Don't forget to subscribe, and leave a comment sharing your thoughts and ideas for future videos. Thank you for joining me on this artistic and eco-friendly adventure!

Here, you'll see one of those sunny days in Long Beach, NY. Then, I'll take you through the clay reclamation process. This part of my ceram...

    Oh wow I love this,I have never heard of making paper out of grass before,what a great idea🤗🤗.. I would love to give this a go,I might give it a try this year sometime.. What cloth did you use,do you think you could use old t-shirts to dry the grass on??.. Oh I saw a comment about how you should have more subscribers & I totally agree,I'm no expert,but maybe you could use more hashtags you know like put arts & crafts in making natural materials what you can make with grass,I mean I'm no good at making up hashtags..it's just when someone presses on a hashtag it comes up with so many video's,I hope I am making sense,if not I am sorry,I'm not very good at explaining things.. I am going to share this video with a very good friend of mine,well she's an amazing friend.. I can't wait to see what else you do,thankyou for sharing these brilliant little projects with us & taking time to film it.. Have a beautiful day & take care✌🏼🌻✌🏼🌻

      Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm thrilled to see that my video and idea are gaining traction among creative individuals. Please share your experience after you give it a try. There's another paper-making video on my channel that might also interest you. I used old T-shirts, but you can use sheets or any other textile that can absorb the water from the grass like cotton. I know I need to improve my use of hashtags and other strategies to attract more viewers to my channel. And I will definitely do it soon! Thank you for supporting my channel. Cheers💚

    What happens if you put too much washing soda?

    • @imperfectionisperfection
      @imperfectionisperfection 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am not sure but I think using too much washing soda can harm the paper fibers, making the paper weaker and less durable.

    Cool video and interesting experiment. Would these go moldy easily though? Depends on the climate maybe?

    • @imperfectionisperfection
      @imperfectionisperfection 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you're asking whether the paper gets moldy after the process, the answer is no! I still have the papers with me, and there hasn't been any such issue. While I can't provide an exact explanation for what might happen if the paper is exposed to different climate conditions, mine was stored on the shelf for months, experiencing both hot and cold weather, but predominantly warm. I hope this answers your question.:)

    Really awesome. I just made my first sheet today and now the sky's the limit. I made two sheets out of cardboard box pieces. They are dark so I thought of using another material. • @imperfectionisperfection
      @imperfectionisperfection 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don't necessarily need washing soda, but it does tend to help break down the fibers a little better to get you a higher quality paper. You can see the quality of the paper at the end and how durable it is.

      Hi @bobm2331! Thank you for your comment. 😊If you are talking about decoration of native culture techniques, I did only once on a bowl. But I haven’t had a chance to apply to my pottery all which I would love to do it. I have my own manual kiln at my studio. I have been struggling with it time to time cus it is old and second hand. I use only stoneware. I always fire 2 times - bisque & glaze. Hope this helps your questions☺️
