Living Quite Simply
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 27 พ.ย. 2017
We don’t think there’s much out there that’s more rewarding than growing food in your own garden, collecting eggs from your chickens, milking your goats, cutting down your own wood and stacking it for your winter heat. We don’t think there’s a better way to raise your children than out in the country, learning through nature, exploration, and working together as a family. And we don’t think there’s any better way for families to get prepared for things to come than living just this way- out in the country. Living simpler is very hard work, but when you choose to leave conveniences behind for a lifestyle of self-sufficient homestead living, you are giving your family the very best.
We’re a family of 6 living in the Missouri Ozarks, and our channel is dedicated to sharing what we’ve learned since making the move to the country, but more importantly, we want to inspire others to find the same joys and satisfaction, the same quietness in this busy world, through a country life.

I'm so glad I found this channel! You guys are great!
These are good.
I'd like to know when you move again. Just GIVING EVERYTHING AWAY.
I too think it is so important to regain those lost skills. I grew up in the city but spent lots of time in the country visiting farmers and mennonites and appreciated their simple life and exceptional skills. When my husband and I had children we decided to move to the country, a simple home and life, growing our own food, learning the lost skills, homeschooling our children and teaching them how to live off grid. I really appreciated this video, you have a new subscriber.
I didn't grow up with any of those lost skills either. Your children are very fortunate to grow up in a home where self-sufficiency is a normal part of day-to-day life.
I subscribed due to your valuable content.
I would love to see more homeschooling videos! Like what you use for Math, writing, reading! Thank you so much for this video.
Your background music is quite loud, is there a way to make it quieter?
Love his hat. Good advice.
Any tips on how to find a good town to raise a family in that has the small town values? I see you've had a lot of out of state moves, how did you find out which town to move to? I'm in Arizona and also looking into idaho
Hi there, I wish you the best in finding the right area. Joel Skousen's book, Strategic Relocation, is a book we've studied like a text book as we've made each move. We prefer very small towns- less than 4,000 people in very low density population areas. In all the towns like that we've come across in our travels and in moves, they almost always have small town values. I wish you the very best in finding the right area! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions! livingquitesimply@gmail.com
Hiw did your families handle your move? Im in a suburb of phoenix and dying to move my family out to a more rural area out of state (hopefully within the next 3 years) but im getting a lot of guilt from my mom. I have 3 kids and she guilts me about how she wont be able to see them if we move. Wonder if you guys experienced anything like that from loved ones, thanks!❤
Hi there, extended family can make moving unnecessarily stressful. It's understandable that loved ones may not like the idea of their family moving further away, but it's so important to see the good it may provide our loved ones rather than selfishly thinking of the change it will produce in our own lives. I can understand what you're experiencing, and yes, we've had to deal with that as well. But I will say that we had multiple family members make a move up to the northwest when we were living there who wouldn't have moved there otherwise, and it was a great change for them, so your move just may propel some of your loved ones to make a change for themselves as well that they may not consider now, so your move may have a really great benefit on your mom that neither of you can imagine now!
Love this. I pulled my kids from public school in January of this year and have been homeschooling them with a christian education, i also work from home full time 40 hrs a week. I'm in a suburb outside of Phoenix and yearning to move to a rural area. Working on it, hopefully in the next few years it can become a reality. Love your videos
Wow, good for you! That's so great that you're making such positive changes for your family. It sounds like you're juggling a lot right now. What a commitment! Keep up the great work.
You mean I really don't need to keep the 25 odd sixed Allen wrenches I've been carting around for years??????
LOL. You may be able to purge some of them 😉
Absolutely great video.
Thank you so much!
Great information. Thank you for making this.
Good tips.
Thanks. I've sub'd 😀 At 70 in 2 days and hubby nearly 84, we're moving after 45yrs to a bungalow... oh what a job to achieve the MASSIVE decluttering process! May the Lord bless you 🙌 M&Mx
Congrats on your new house. I can't imagine living in one house for 45 years! I hope your decluttering to prepare for your move is a gamechanger! Let us know how your move goes! I hope it's a really good one for you! I'm glad you joined our community here! Blessings!

Didn't like pine shavings. Too messy, had to be changed daily. Water got spilled over night chicks got wet and cold. Had pasty butt. Not fun. Changed over to clean wheat straw, secured the water. And of course cleaned the pasty butts. No more problems. Loved my girls! Will get more inarch or April
Wheat straw, nice! We haven't tried it.
Thank you for your video….yours is the 4th video I’ve watched today…and by far THE BEST❣️❤️❣️straight to the point…and so very HELPFUL……thank you for All your helpful hints❣️❤️❣️
Hi Patricia! I'm SO glad you found our video and most importantly, that it was helpful! Thank you for the feedback. I hope you have a great year ahead! It sounds like you're starting out on a really solid footing clearing things away. We aren't currently moving, but have been doing a major declutter ourselves right now. It's amazing how much STUFF sneaks into our lives! Blessings!
This will save our lives this year in Europe.
Hi LolMaNiac93! I can't even imagine what you all are facing over there. I imagine the energy crisis will be hitting us here soon as well. It's so important to have alternatives that can help in times like these! Perhaps you already have one, but in case you don't, I want to mention a Thermal Cooker. I should do a video on it. You basically use your stove to start the cooking process and then put the special pot into a giant thermos sort of thing to do the majority of the cooking, and it saves a lot of fuel. The brand we use is Saratoga Jacks, and I love it. Here's a link. This isn't an affiliate link, I don't get paid if you buy it. I do highly recommend it if you don't have one. I'm sure there are other brands, and they may be just as good. This one I've had for at least 4 years, and I love it. saratogajacks.com/ Blessings!
I love this video. We have moved but I’m going to my pictures and clothes. I was rushed in this move. But I am leaving a lot of stuff behind.
GREAT JOB!!!! I know what it can be like to be rushed in a move, but you are AWESOME for doing the work now to declutter before settling in and getting comfortable amidst it. We've been doing a serious purge the past few weeks, and need to finish that. Things accumulate so quickly!
Great tips! And very helpful ❤

Lots of good advice here.
Thanks. Such a good reminder
I keep the kids on all of my tupperware for that very purpose. Bonus- you don’t have to search for its lid later
This video was so good. When we move I’m only taking what we need. I’ve been tossing stuff since August. I’m also getting a dumpster for the junk.
That’s awesome to hear! You won’t regret it!!! The best move we’ve ever had was when we sold/gave away everything first. It sounds like you’re not afraid to be ruthless as you determine what to get rid of! I wish you the very best in your move!
You do not change the chick's bedding everyday. They need bacteria to build a healy immune system. People should do their research before posting how to videos.
Thanks for your input. Different people certainly have different opinions, and I agree that building up an immune system is important, but ammonia from the manure breaking down is known to bring down air quality for the chicks (and anyone else breathing it in). The concentration of chicks in the space will make a difference in how often to clean it, but as the chicks get a bit older but not fully feathered, I find that I can smell the ammonia if it’s not changed out daily.
hello! you both are sooo cute
My husband and I are so blessed to have left the rural tiny house isolation and limitations. We have found what works for us and focusing on God. We are so grateful to have left the rural countryside and its stresses behind and the Lord has blessed us to do so.
What's stressful about living in a rural countryside
Thanks for sharing, I am looking for better ways to store food long term in the current challenging times 👌👍
You seem like such a nice down to earth couple. Some videos I feel like the people are yelling they are so loud. You guys are more quiet. Thanks.
I have gotten rid of a ton of stuff but I think I'm guilty of the books. Some books I like having, some I've read, some not yet. But I do have a large pile I am giving away too. I've heard ripped and old t-shirts make good cleaning rags but I haven't tried it yet.
Today, my grandpa gave me 2 chicks to care for. 2 becuase my sister wanted one too! Im watching this now before anything happens, or before they grow up. I called mine puff, and my sister called hers chipotle. LOL BUT her nickname is chip! Both of them share a pot to feed in and a water bowl, and our grandpa also gave us some news paper and some bedding in a sack. And his people spent the whole day making them a cage with a light source. I hope they stay alive! And whenever we let them outside. They poop on the concrete but me and my sister clean up after them. Tonight we will turn on the switch for a heat source and we will change their bedding. Although i dont think its nice to always touchthem though. So me and my sister just touch them when we need to pick them up, although mines really shy and mostly runs away when i try to puck him up, although chip on the other hand really doesnt care whatever we do. I hope they dont get a sickness though! Or else we’ll have to move on to african love birds. 😕
Congratulations on your chicks. It sounds like they’re well loved and taken care of!
Love this! I’m interested in hearing more about the toys, we have 5 kids, I’ve decluttered so much and still toys everywhere 🤦♀️
You never know you're poor , until someone tells you you are.
Decluttering before moving its a great start to go through your stuff but may I suggest packing early too. Leave the the boxes you think you will need open (try to close most of the boxes) The point of this is that not knowingly you will learn to live without and when you move to your new place you will have already become detached to that item. (Maybe)😉 Well, at least you tried.
You can try going back to each box and declutter it. You don’t even have to move from house to put everything in boxes and go through everything again.
this was very educational and your voice i can listen to eat all day everyday ...thank you though i found it years later the information is still of great very😘😘😘
the best breed web seems to no longer be available 🤕 was exactly what i need
Excellent list. You have also mentioned why we should give away. Thx 💐
Nice !! Ooooh I like your hat, too ... I have not seen that logo since I was little. I’d say , Good Luck with your upcoming move, but I see this vid is a year old. Oooof ! Unread books! Yepp ! I have no move scheduled, but it’s likely to happen in a few years. A move is always a great purge! Meanwhile, I’m always up for purging items in between moves, too ! Cheers ! Liz
For getting rid if toys, perhaps get the children participating in the move by encouraging them to donate toys they no longer play with. Set up two boxes…a small one for what to keep and a larger one for toys to share. With the right optimistic attitude, the kids can feel good about helping.
Excellent idea! Getting the children involved in decluttering their belongings is so important to help them develop proper attitudes and habits with “stuff.”
I started looking for information about the Great Depression because now in June, 2022 gasoline is over $5 per gallon and I’m really afraid something similar is going to happen soon. Your video is the one I like the most because is well explained in a short time. Thanks for sharing, blessings from Texas
Yes God’s will! Thank you! Awesome!
You are a great couple and its good you see whats coming
I'm dreading decluttering my attic. Thanks for the video!
I love your family's content. please come back and give us your great information!
Your video was fun to watch. I appreciate you did not have background music playing which many other videos have. You guys are so cute. You are articulate and right to the point.
