I started looking for information about the Great Depression because now in June, 2022 gasoline is over $5 per gallon and I’m really afraid something similar is going to happen soon. Your video is the one I like the most because is well explained in a short time. Thanks for sharing, blessings from Texas
I too think it is so important to regain those lost skills. I grew up in the city but spent lots of time in the country visiting farmers and mennonites and appreciated their simple life and exceptional skills. When my husband and I had children we decided to move to the country, a simple home and life, growing our own food, learning the lost skills, homeschooling our children and teaching them how to live off grid. I really appreciated this video, you have a new subscriber.
I didn't grow up with any of those lost skills either. Your children are very fortunate to grow up in a home where self-sufficiency is a normal part of day-to-day life.
I would love to see a video or list of the books you used for homeschooling about the Great Depression. Anything you can show about frugal living would be very appreciated. Thank you for the video!
Although I live in a duplex right now, I'm glad I started planting vegetables in pots. I want to be more self sufficient. Thanks for sharing with us valuable lessons that are definitely relevant today!
That’s such a great start! It’s great that you’re learning those skills now right where you are. Our first garden was at our apartment in Southern California, and we’ve had one ever since. You just learn more each year.
Hi SK Language. Thanks so much for taking time to watch our video. We can’t take any credit for that other than that we fell on a gold mine of free photos that the government put out. The hardest part was picking which ones, because there were tons that depicted the everyday life of people in the Great Depression.
A little garden can suppliment your diet a little, but to really live off the land you'd need to eat plenty of meat, such as livestock, game and fish. I'm sure some vegan someone on the internet os pretending to live off their backyard garden, but it's impossible. I'm glad my husband's family owns a lot of fertile land and he grew up mostly living off the land (He did sell his produce and buy other food for variety.)
