Hey, I assume that your friend is knowledgeable about 3D printing but I can't understand why he chose that printing orientation, it's the one that easiest to print yes but also the one that makes the Cymbals laughably weak, you could ask him to print them flat, it would be a lot of postprocessing because you would have to remove supports but it would ensure the best strenght. Source : Im also a 3D printing addict...

So I don't know much about music but I do know some things about 3d printing and I think that this is a classic issue of bad modelling designs. If you HAVE to glue something together you want to give the parts as much surface area mating as possible gluing edge to edge is never going to work well. At the very minimum you should try to connect at a 45 degree angle to increase surface contact but how I probably would have attempted this is to make it be able to stay together on it's own without glue and then add glue to it. Even if it was just like a <1mm deep 0.4mm slot on 1 edge with a connecting feature on the opposite side that would be better as you can apply a small amount of CA glue on the channel and press it in to give it a better chance of sticking. But the REAL answer here is to use 3d Gloop. It's amazingly strong.

ABS is very prone to cracking during print. It requires your ambient temperature to be consistent with your print temperature to avoid this. They make 3d printing enclosures for this to "trap" the heat in HOWEVER if you're unable to get one of these enclosures you can also get a space heater with a variable temperature control , place the heater near the printer like about 2 or 3 feet away , and set the temperature to the same as your print temperature and you'll get less cracking

In modern handy working & industrial working Glue is supposed to be stronger than the material and for almost all use cases there now are.

Idk, my ear isn't tuned for this stuff...I'm a guitarist. It sounds like a precision thing to me. It's subtle, and could be a perfect thing in a modern day mix.
