As a Cats fan, always love the local Geelong talent to stay put. Hopefully Xavier Ivisic can come in as a high impact mid/fwd. As well as Lachie Jaques as another rebounding defender, would be perfect as we missed out on Angus Hastie last year.

Though F/S and academy bids might keep him out, he can settle for being a star of the second round too. Can't wait for River Stevens to done the royal blue and white the same as his old man. From all reports he's a real hard running, high octane small forward who can bring the pressure, knows where the goals are and most of all... can do it all day. Keep up the good stuff mate. This year's draft is looming as a real exciting one

My favourite draftee is Jonty Faull because anyone called Jonty in sport has a safe pair of hands (ie Jonty Rhodes)

i complete agree. i understand for various reasons hawks were favourites for the game, but realistically port are second, are a good side, and played at their home ground. brisbane were fairly rated as underdogs and were away, and with everything against, them they came back and won. chris fagan coach of the week for sure.

Geelong might be the best at arresting that momentum, they seldom get run down when well ahead. The St. Kilda game is the one that stands out.

Have to disagree, I think Ports win was a bit more about coaching than Brisbane's. Then again I don't know what he said/did to spur that comeback.

Can you see anyway the crows can play into this? In a crazy ideals world, i would love the crows to snare draper and Dodson. Maybe risky taking Dodson so early but he looks to have a very bright future

My main disappointment comes from the fact that I tipped the Giants Twice and Im a Port fan so there is no Reason for me to tip the Giants when I dont need to

Ironically, it has been the Lions in recent times that have struggled to arrest another team's momentum. I can recall at least 3 or 4 games this season where Brisbane has had a game-winning lead and blown it when the opponent ramped up the pressure. It certainly is validation of your conclusion that the successful teams going forward will be the ones that can stop momentum.

Not twice. But 3 times since the 2023 preliminary final. GWS were 3 goals up midway through the 3rd only to lose by 1pt to the eventual premiers

One symptom of poor leadership depth is losing close finals and not being able to ice games.

Another great week of finals! With the silly stuff though. Ginnivan ended up with his foot in his mouth cause the hawks lost. Its a humbling defeat due to the past week in the lead up and that's not a bad thing Its just how the domino's fall for the Hawks. Ken lost respect in doing what he did with Ginnivan and Sicily. Damaged his look as a coach and honestly wasn't the time or place. He recognised as much in his presser but the most ridiculous thing is the AFL fining him 20k... how stupid is that?!

Daz, great thoughts and insights. Mabior Chol had a terrible final series. I get the impression that he is too laid back, and someone needs to put some fire in him. But he is incredibly gifted as a footballer. Yeah I hate to say it but Port probably deserved the win, and would have felt rightly robbed if we had won it. Even though they should have taken their opportunities more than they did. Sam Mitchells post game conference was profound and moving, and he really brought a lot of vulnerability and heart to that conference. More and more impressed with him as time goes on. Sad for the Hawks. Looking forward to your thoughts on the rest of the finals.

Well said mate. I'm a Port supporter and it was a great game. The umpires always stuff up either way. Since the game port beat the hawks with DBJ soccer at the end , woke the hawks up and went on and played outstanding footy Since that very game and was so good from that game on. Good positive year for next yr with the way the hawks went about business was very good signs for 2025.

If Ginni's tweet didnt have any effect on port, a winning coach wouldent have brought it up after the game. I hope Ginni has learned that there are boundaries.
