I only got to go here once. As a kid, my grandma always wanted to go to SeaWorld every summer and I would be bitter, looking across that lake and seeing all the rides, while I was sitting there watching fish jump. Lol

SeaWorld of Ohio opened in 1970.

This was meant to be my home park as an Akron native, my family went here for years. Such a great idea for a video and a great job on it.

Crazy timing for me. My cousin sent me a picture from the very early 1980s of us and our parents trying to figure out if it was Geauga Lake or not. Our father's both worked for Omar Bakkery, which wa owned by Fazio Foods, and they had a summer company party up there (we lived in Columbus). Some years, it was at Sea World, which 8-12 year old me thought was boring. So I was trying to figure out the back ground. I assumed this was an older video that Google put in the YT algorithm because of my searh history. All of that still amy be true except for the timing of your video. If you read your comments, a few thoughts. The female narrator almost sounds like a professinal you hired. The male voice, sounded like a You Tuber. It actually works, she sounds like the facts person and you sound like the feelings person. No shade intended, just a thought. I felt the transition music was annoying. Not sure why, maybe I am just 54 years old and want the kids off my lawn. But it qas jarring to me. Lamost like you were afraid the narration had put me to sleep and you wanted to make sure I was awake. 😀 Finally, imho, I think you should have had the female voice read the text you had at the begining. You could have left the twxt, but for folks that listen more than watch it might engage them a bit. I guess you are going for the cinematic, Star Wars like intro of text. Just a thought. I may be wrong. Okay, finally finally, I wish there was.more about the video with the guy talking about presrving the coaster, the heckler and that whole scene. Is there more to it? Both, is there more video and more importantly, is there more stroy? Were folks trying to rescue a coaster? Who? How? Thanks for the late Christmas present, I hope you and yours had a Merry Christmas or what, if any, holiday was applicable.

I think 6 Flags killed it. We used to go all the time from Pgh before Kids. Once the kids came along we took them to the now 6 flags. The new coasters are what I called 3/4 scale coasters as they seemed smaller than others of the era. Park staff which used to be great was now very apathetic and seemed bothered that there were guests in the park. Ride/food wait times were WAY longer than the queue would indicate. We had purchased a 2 day pass in advance. 1/2 way through the first day we went to get a refund for day 2. There was a rather long line waiting to do the same. As the kids grew we hit just about every amusement park in the upper east coast, but sadly we never went back to the once beloved Geauga Lake

Geauga Lake is one park I wish was still around. I know it had its problems, but it looked like a cool place with a complex history. It would’ve been awesome to see what it could’ve been like today. Thanks for sharing its story though! This video was really well done.

👍Nice to see there are a few enthusiasts who have an interest in coaster and park history. I do have to correct 11:43 . The Raging Wolf Bobs was built and inspired by the Bobs at Riverview Park in Chicago not the Racer at Kings Island. Most enthusiasts agreed that the Bobs was much better.

You missed a major point in the closing of GL. The fact that they clised for the 07 season, with supposedly every intention of opening in 08. Then THE DAY AFTER CLOSING DAY 07. The closure announcement came. No one had any warnings to come get last rides, last visite, last pictures, etc. It was just a HUGE "F you to everyone". Couldnt get that last hoo rah as you said.

X Flight was freaking awesome. Batman is still great today. Just rode it last weekend actually. Too bad Kings Island scrapped X Flight. I did really used to like that coaster.

I personally think it was financial because cf purchased paramount parks, just my opinion. I grew up in a nearby Youngstown I enjoyed the six flags years. I feel like it was a downgrade when cf took over and parts of the park looked deserted. I think I enjoyed sf because the og geauga lake wasn't very thrilling with 2 wooden coasters, and 2 arrow loopers just didn't compare to. Cedar point!

Aurora just finalized the purchase of another chunk of the Sea World side so the park project is underway. I still have a sore spot with cedar fair from this.

I enjoyed Geauga Lake. I went to GL and Sea World in the 80's and 90's. I did make one trip when it was 6 flags and we made multiple trips when it was just Wildwater Kingdom. The location and quality of WWK allowed us to make multiple trips every year until closure. When CP added to Soak City to make it CP Shores they had no reason to keep WWK anymore. I also enjoyed Idora park and Conneaut lake park.

I forgot there used to be a Sea World in Ohio! My brothers got to go because our school did a 5th grade trip there every year but of course the school stopped doing it once I got to 5th grade

I didn't go much & the last time was 1981, (thought I went to Sea World in the '90's but thought was separate) still fond childhood memories of this, & Euclid Beach (it's competition that closed in '69).... which I vaguely remember. Thanks for showing.

Sixflags gets the most blame. On the SeaWorld side they had height restrictions which is why they wanted to buy Sixflags but Sixflags counter offered(we all know how great they are with financial decisions 👎).Sixflags made this the biggest park in the world and was facing bankruptcy and sold their flagship as well as other parks but ultimately went bankrupt years later anyways. Cedar Fair should have some blame but that area wasn't attracting hotels just shopping Plazas, There's no major highway near there as well. Just a bad location for a giant park. Great for a local small park and CF Knew that.

That raging wolf bobs was the most intense airtime ive ever felt. It was so strong though that it was slamming you back in the seat!

Me and my wife had an amazing time here in 98 i think. 3 new rollercoasters. The Villan was insanely good!

i miss this

I loved Geauga Lake and Sea World. We came out every Summer from PA to visit family and always went. We always had a great time there. Could you imagine what it could of been if Anheuser Busch bought it instead of Six Flags. Good memories especially the yrs GL got the Wave pool and Raging Wolf Bobs, and the yr Sea World opened the Penguin Exhibit.

I rode all the coasters that were there between 2004 and 2007 many times. Steel Venom and X-Flight were my faves Dominator was great too. Geauga Lake was my home park, now Cedar Point is.

I worked there in the Summer of 76 ! Hard to believe it’s all gone !

Rode dominator at both Geauga Lake and last yr at Kings Dominion..X-Flight was fun..Villian on the other hand was an awesome woody and i hate wooden coasters..Miss that ride for sure

I miss that place. Big Dipper was so rough you could feel your vertebrae slamming together. I remember when Sea World first opened my family went there and I could see Geauga Lake across the lake and wishing I was there instead of boring old Sea World

2025 is the make or break year for TT2 if it has more issues and downtime again then TT2 will be in Project Accelerate and be history! I hope they can get this resolved and working but both Zamperla and CP are both to blame!

We will miss this, big time! Not me, I'd never go on that!, but my daughter would do this almost everytime we were there (and it gave me a chance to chill in the shade and recharge my phone and check email). With a $10 price tag, it was cheapest fly ride across the chain. We loved that it never had a long line, which may be the primary reason they decided to ditch it. Thanks for the nice video- we love watching your videos.
