    I joined the Buddhist Cafe maybe a month or 2 ago, then got some emails today, one saying my account has been deleted and the other saying "Bhante G will begin removing accounts that have laid idle. BsP (Buddhist Secure Project) requires serious attention. Time is a serious matter. I will not waste my time". Not wasting time with people like me sounds a bit harsh and abrupt, no warnings or anything, but OK. Just not feeling the metta with that one. Just letting people know that if you join the Buddhist Cafe then you really need to be active. If you don't engage enough in a month or 2 then your account will be deleted. It would be nice if you (Ven. Varapañño) in one of your videos, could give some warning about that and maybe suggest ways that those who join Buddhist Cafe can engage in the website so that they don't get their accounts removed. When I was looking at that website it didn't even seem clear how I could post on it. But my feedback is that I don't like time restraints. What if I went on holiday or retreat for a month, then my account will be gone when I come back? Not really my cup of tea, but maybe others will be OK with that type of thing.

      Hello. Thanks for the comment. I have changed the way the site runs. Did you attend any live discussions or introduce yourself in any of the groups? Did you read my mission statement? Did you show support in any way? Did you do anything on the site? My newsletter was clear. Why post here instead of emailing support? In terms of Metta, could you kindly explain what you mean? Buddhist.cafe has a purpose and I have explained it in many videos here. You could of simply sent an email and this matter could of been resolved quickly. The updated 'Join' page explains some of the changes. After sending many emails to members, copious messages in the main group, I have not heard from you nor know who you are. If you wish you can easily create a new account. If not Sukhi Hotu.

    That is so true, there is no other choice when it comes to morality and kamma. I feel there's a lot of muddledness of right and wrong in laylife. An example in my own limited experiences at art academy and in the art world, there's a general sense of anything goes - there's no single right perception - and nothing concretely right or wrong, it's all a matter of taste so just do what you feel like, and don't think so much about it. One can rightly say that about the arts & music for example, but I think this attitude is also sometimes found in conversations about morality and life in general which is where we seriously go astray. Didn't the Buddha say that ''good deeds are like friends that welcome you in your next life'' or something like that? Thank you Bhante for the thought-provoking talk 🙏

    • @varapanno
      @varapanno 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. Sometimes the Teaching gets counterfeited into 'easy going' do what you 'feel' etc. ..However if we look at the Buddha's life we can see nothing but incredible discipline. Incredible morality and much more.

    Bhante thank you for this video, and your content is slowly getting out to more people, so please dont be discouraged. You may experiment with Shorts giving a snippet of your dhamma talk and use the 'Related Link' option to point to your regular full video to drive more views to those interested in that specific tipic. One other video idea is perhaps to analyze a Dhamma talk from different teachers like the series from Venerable Luang Por/Ajahn Chah, Ajahn Martin Piyadhammo and Tan Ajahn Thanissaro "Bhikkhu" (people searching those tags maybe interested in those videos but giving your understanding especially Ajahn Chah who is no longer around to expound further on speciifc points in his talk). Please take or discard these ideas as your discern couls be helpful to bring more people to the Dhamma.

    Every Buddha, while they meditated on a mountain, started off with a few who remained and meditated together with the Buddha. They will increase in number. If you are a Buddha handling times in our cycle where there appears so few, you are blessed, for it is rare having an opportunity to water a desert. If the times and place chosen to teach the Dharma were busy and popular with it, the need for the Dharma would not appear so dire.

      There’s no doubt about your intentions to achieve the supreme bliss of nibbana or in other words to be enlightened by practicing the teachings of Buddha. But did you ever know that this forest tradition is rejected by Siddhartha Gautama Buddha? He was in the forest doing this hard line for 6 years yet got nothing and he abandoned the method? Only Jain Mahavira was advising his disciples to practice it. After Siddhartha’s demise many Jains became Buddhist monks to get benefits and included their point of views into Buddhism meantime making it also a useless religion. Now this has become useless as the real experiment that Buddha advised to do has been covered with Jain teachings and Hindu beliefs along with worshiping traditions. Good thing is, in Sri Lanka only in one place the real method is found and taught. In it the real practicing procedure is guided. I suggest you try that too if you clearly know that you’re not yet been enlightened/ achieved nibbana. You can connect to this teacher by reaching out to him via WhatsApp on +94 74 109 3800 (Ven. Wimala Thero)

    Thank you for this great Dhamma talk. Many Western people are attracted to Buddhism because they believe it has this "laissez-faire" attitude, especially liberals in Western countries see Buddhism as a rebellious alternative to Christianity without realizing Buddhism has a lot of rules that go against their narrative. On the other hand, following conventions strictly and rules rigidly is also against the Dhamma. Silabata-paramasa (attachment to rites and rituals) is abandoned by the sotapanna (stream-enterer). Like Ajahn said, wisdom (pañña) must be developed. Thank you Ajahn for this great Dhamma talk 🙏🏻
