Thank you for this great Dhamma talk. Many Western people are attracted to Buddhism because they believe it has this "laissez-faire" attitude, especially liberals in Western countries see Buddhism as a rebellious alternative to Christianity without realizing Buddhism has a lot of rules that go against their narrative.
On the other hand, following conventions strictly and rules rigidly is also against the Dhamma. Silabata-paramasa (attachment to rites and rituals) is abandoned by the sotapanna (stream-enterer).
Like Ajahn said, wisdom (pañña) must be developed.
