All those bottles of Hamilton vendome 🥵
The only one that’s missing is the 5 Year! I’ll find it one day
Very cool, Shannon is a friggin’ rock star!! ❤
I love the ewok shout-out. Merry Christmas!
Hahah hey thanks! Always have to get a Star Wars reference in!
did you get the Planteray Mr. Fogg Navy rum yet ? I just got it today at Mission in Sherman Oaks for $32.99. It's cheap enough to take a chance and the ABV is good. I doubt it's as good as Hamilton Zombie blend that is basically a Navy blend and a little less money and no dosage or chill filtering and Guyana rum forward. It's weird that this Mr. Fogg is Barbados heavy because Navy blends are at least 50% Guyana in the blend and this is less than 20% and that is why I don't expect this to be in the league of Zombie or some other cheapy Navy blends
Mister Fogg is great! The Hamilton Zombie blend is a blend of rums designed for the 1934 zombie cocktail, not a navy blend. Completely different. Mister Fogg was the end result of researching British naval rum blends. Other navy rums are pusser’s and black tot.
not tried but imagine i would like that mix as i love a painkiller cocktail. Jasper's Dancing in the Dark? - trying to reference the dark and white rum but also the apricot, but all i ended up with was Jaspers Greystone Punch
Oooh that’s a fantastic cocktail name. Anytime you can incorporate Bruce Springsteen I’m in!
sounds good, relatively new on the rum journey myself. hundreds of bottles is the dream for me. currently just over 60 i think. Think starting with sweeter rums is a good shout for me at least. My dad however doesn't like rums that are too sweet, he is a navy guy and loves his pussers, but not the spiced one
Welcome to the club! 60 is a solid number. I don’t think I’ve had the spiced rum Pussers, I’ve had all their other expressions though! It’s a safe bet to start sweet and then go up the ladder from there.
Nah He needs a different hat.
No he doesn’t lol
@therumchampion I don't think that's up for discussion. I'm the viewer of this beautiful video and I say more pirate razzle dazzle.. Especially for an 80$ shortie cocktail. I want the treasure chest too..He took it away so fast..that would hurt a pirates feelings so quick and cause riots...Smh.. ❤️
And this is how a $5 shot becomes a $80 shot
lol look as the size of the glass. It’s a full cocktail.
lol look as the size of the glass. It’s a full cocktail.
Look at the size of the glass. Does that look like a shot glass or a full sized cocktail? 🤔🧐
Wait so is it really $80 i didnt see anyone deny that
Look at the size of the glass. It’s s full cocktail.
I was given a 5cl bottle of this for my fortieth birthday in 2010. My friend was in the trade, and when it was first released a miniature also came with the 700ml bottle, box and the copper tot. I still have it. it's the pride of my rum collection too. What i think is worth mentioning too, is the Trinidadian component of the blend is Caroni. A rum I've never had, and can't afford now. If i'd only had the the knowledge I have now when i started on my rum journey around 18 years ago (i'd have bought 2 bottles, you know exactly what i'm saying). I had the privilege to attend a rum club, at the very start of my journey. It was run in a great pub in Edinburgh, The Blue Blazer. It was a small faithful crowd, a fantastic host (the bar manager) and i got a great starter on getting to know about rum (pre internet chat about rum). There would be guests from the industry, pretty big guns actually, worldwide and European ambassadors for the brands, discussing their products, production methods, stills, and heritage. Bringing along samples too. got to try lots of special rums. There were also 60+ rums behind the bar at that time. They were messy Sundays, I tell ya. There's now a new rum bar in Edinburgh, called Ruma. It has a fantastic selection. Getting to try more fantastic and interesting rums. Bravo. More rum chat please.
How awesome! I do think that it’s Caroni! It was also blended into the black tot 50th anniversary. What an amazing place to start your rum journey! I hope to get over to Scotland and England to drink drams with fellow rum lovers.
Fantastic theatrics! I’m sure the cocktail is even better!
It certainly is one of our most popular cocktails! And the fun thing is that each person that presents it to you gives you a different experience 😊
Theatrical and beautiful. What kind of smoke do you use?
I’m not sure the type of wood chips. At the bar I work at, The Lucky Tiki, we replaced the old-fashioned glass into a treasure box and have a light inside of it to create a theatrical presentation!
0:33 you spelled recommended wrong, my guy. The text says “the recommend rum journey”
Oof 🤦♂️thanks for the heads up lol
This is awesome, man. Keep the momentum going. More and more people need to know the beauty of rum.
We’ve all got to work together to elevate the category
I look forward to the upcoming videos!
Hey thanks! Looking forward to your feedback!
Fantastic design. I love the addition of the Averna.
Let me know if you try it and what your thoughts are!
This is awesome 👌🏾. Gives access to some really delicious rums. Thanks for doing this.
Very happy about the selection starting out. We will be expanding this over the coming months and years 👍🏻
You’ve got my attention. You had me at Elijah Craig Barrel Proof
There’s plenty of cask strength rums you could enjoy! Barbados (Foursquare), Boston (Privateer), St Lucia (Chairman’s Reserve), Belize (Holmes Cay, Travellers, Roaming Road). Never saying stop drinking barrel proof bourbon, it’s great! But rums deserves its flowers too 🙌🏼
Are those last two available online anywhere so I can drop some hints for Christmas 🎄 to my special someone. All three are awesome recommendations.
Transcontinental is available at Curiada. The roaming road Belize is long gone 😔
Thanks for this! More content like this please.
Thank you for the feedback!
Thank you!
Thank you for watching! Let me know what other content you would like to see!
Cool, cool. Except that foursquare is four times the price.
Elijah Craig single barrel was $110. I bought the fourscore isonomy for $150. You are absolutely correct that the prices of foursquare have gone up. However, that doesn’t detract from the fact that it it’s a great room for bourbon lovers. Another great brand that is absolutely on par with Foursquare: Chairman’s Reserve from St. Lucia. If you don’t know them, check them out!
Shhhhhhh! Don’t let the word get out. It will raise Rum prices like additive free tequila and bourbon 🤣
It's going to take a very long time for rum to get to bourbon prices. No point in trying to hide it away :)
Probably because most liquor stores carry crap rum. Rum doesn't have that huge market like whiskey
It’s a vicious cycle. Imagine a world where everyone thought whiskey was just fireball. That’s where rum is. Such a shame about rum not being as popular. Rum also was a big reason the American revolution happened 😋
🙌🏻😁
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I completely agree but I also think rum is the spirit category that still hasn't been properly realised. I love Scotch, American Whiskey and Rum. There isn't enough quality aged rum around over 46% ABV. We need a better understanding of what makes quality rum to improve the market and overall image.
I’ll make a video just for you 😋 I usually drink rums over 50% there’s lots of good stuff out there 🙏
@therumchampion I'd be interested to see your picks.
I agree there's a rum for every palette. Like vodka, drink bacardi. Like gin, try an Agricole. It really does it all. Thanks for all you do, Mr. Inman.
Thanks always commenting! Bourbon? Try Foursquare & Privateer! Rye whiskey? Ko Hana Koho.
@therumchampion it's easier and more fun to talk when you know someone is actually listening. Plus, engagement moves videos up the TH-cam ladder.
don't need to tell me twice!
🤣🤣🤣
Appleton is good, worthy park is great but when it comes to authentic Jamaican flavor no distillery can top Hampden. Their unique funk is so distinguishable from its peers and imo makes them a top 3 distillery in the world.
Hampden is truly special. They invented Jamaican funk.
Draw the rest of the fucking owl. Lmao
Hey Bryan!!!
Well hey!!!!
I think this is so interesting! Thanks for the video
Thank you for always watching and commenting ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, I like your way of testing! Just some additions. I usually smell and taste again and again from the time when it goes into the glass and tasting does not end for me when the glass is "empty". I still can pick new aromas when the liquid evaporates. Some aromas go away which cover others, some others stay and show themselves stronger. Infinite amount of info can be found in just 2 cl of rum! :D
Thank you! And you bring up a great point. Always wise to go back and re-smell and re-taste throughout the process. It sure is remarkable to be able to get so much on the nose and the pallet just in a small little tasting.
TO THE RUM! 🎉 location and times? Sounds great!
I will be sharing all the details soon!
Whete in socal?
I’ll be sharing all the details soon! Standby
I love this! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for watching!
Great content and very helpful, thanks! I got into Rum through cocktails so I'm newer to sipping it neat. Before my cocktail obsession I would have the occasional Whisky or Cognac with friends but I was never looking for flavours. I was also quite picky as a child so I feel like my palate is more limited than others. For example I can identify pineapple or "tropical fruit", while others could maybe be more specific by noting papaya or guava, stuff like that. Anyway I'm sure I'll improve my notes over time, even if I can't pick out 10 flavours for each Rum I'm still enjoying it and adding different types to my shelves all the time 😊 Also really enjoying the Podcast, it's "To The Rum!" If anyone else would like to find it and listen 🥃 cheers!
Sounds like we both arrived at Rum through cocktails! The one thing to always remember with tasting notes is that they don’t have to be insanely, refined or super pinpointed. The favorite note I ever saw was on Reddit where somebody said what they were tasting was a burnt tire in the sun for three weeks. If someone truly is tasting that specific of a note, that’s awesome! The point is, there is no right or wrong. You can absolutely say baking spices or citrus instead of calling out specific spices or fruits. Keep tasting and thanks so much for watching and tuning into the podcast! Let me know what you’d like us to cover in future episodes!
This is a great guide! Very comprehensive
Thank you! I highly recommend using this as a starting point and then figuring out what works best for you. 👍🏻
When I first saw the title of this video, I though "Uh oh, here we go"... I was wrong. These are great recommendations for the reasons that you state. A good variety of representations of what rum is and can be. Well done.
Thank you for giving the video a chance! I really wanted to represent the diversity of rum and offer her a wide array as people tend to come from rum from with different flavor profiles 👍🏻
The stash looks glorious.
Hey thanks! I was encouraged by an awesome someone to keep this thing 🥸
I agree 100% ❤
🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹
Not a bad suggestion. Didn't they just drop a new expression? Not the 100 proof something else. Is this it?
There are two new expressions coming to market. They have not hit the US yet, unfortunately.
This is really good😊
I’m glad you tried it! Even more glad that you liked it!
Loved this when I made it, and the layers look great, definitely a good one for parties, or to encourage newer rum drinkers that are familiar with Mojitos that there's more interesting rum out there 😊 Saying that though the Mojito is possibly the biggest gamble in terms of not knowing what you'll end up with if you order at a bar. Mai Tais are up there too, I had one with grenadine, pineapple juice and galliano before 😢 Do you have a strong opinion on Mojitos and how they should be made? As long as it's made by someone that knows what they're doing I dont mind granulated sugar, demerara sugar or syrup, and without bitter shredded mint that goes up the straw 😅
Should be talking about cocktails the Mojito is a pretty straightforward cocktail. Take your rum, lime juice, mint leaves, and sugar/syrup together and shake in a cocktail shaker. Dirty dump into a glass and add sparking later 🙌🏼
@@therumchampion Sounds like the best way to ensure consistency 👍 most people want to muddle everything in the glass over here so there's a good chance the mint is over-muddled or the lime pieces haven't been muddled enough, or the glass is too big so there's too much soda 🥲
Listen man, based on the ingredients involved in that drink it will put someone on their ass. It looks absolutely incredible.
Yup. It sure will 😜
It's so cool how making small changes can create all kinds of different flavors in the rum. Rum is a canvas, and rum makers are artists.
Couldn’t agree more! Distillation in general is a marriage of passion and science
Great pour! 😁🙌🏻🥃
Hey thanks!!!
He is wrong you were not given a half pint of rum It was a quarter pint with the water in it chuck.
It was an imperial half gallon prior to Admiral Vernon. After him it was diluted with 4 parts water.
The thing is a tot is not enough to get a normal man drunk it's like
It’s like what?
lol
I’d love do know what is lol worthy
@ u know why
@ oh, I see. You’re one of those people. How disappointing.
