The history of the world is full of absolutely wild stories. It gets even wilder when they add rum to it. ore videos like this please. I pronounce it without the "H". Homage. I feel like i saw this particular bottle once in Canada for around 799 - 1,000. Maybe i mixed it up with a different Black Tot in a wood case. Good stuff good sir, cheers.
The best history is rum history. Sadly all of it has fallen by the wayside. Fortunately so many people have begun talking about it and Black Tot started it all!
Good stuff! I’m new to this channel and am thoroughly enjoying the rum nerdiness, information, knowledge, etc.! Keep up the great work and I look forward to your new content! Cheers! (As I’m drinking a Shrunken Skull)
I was given a 5cl bottle of this for my fortieth birthday in 2010. My friend was in the trade, and when it was first released a miniature also came with the 700ml bottle, box and the copper tot. I still have it. it's the pride of my rum collection too. What i think is worth mentioning too, is the Trinidadian component of the blend is Caroni. A rum I've never had, and can't afford now. If i'd only had the the knowledge I have now when i started on my rum journey around 18 years ago (i'd have bought 2 bottles, you know exactly what i'm saying). I had the privilege to attend a rum club, at the very start of my journey. It was run in a great pub in Edinburgh, The Blue Blazer. It was a small faithful crowd, a fantastic host (the bar manager) and i got a great starter on getting to know about rum (pre internet chat about rum). There would be guests from the industry, pretty big guns actually, worldwide and European ambassadors for the brands, discussing their products, production methods, stills, and heritage. Bringing along samples too. got to try lots of special rums. There were also 60+ rums behind the bar at that time. They were messy Sundays, I tell ya. There's now a new rum bar in Edinburgh, called Ruma. It has a fantastic selection. Getting to try more fantastic and interesting rums. Bravo. More rum chat please.
I read a story somewhere about a sailor being given the option of ex amount of lashes or having his grog ration stopped for ex amount of weeks. He opted for the lashes.
There was Pusser's before your Black Tot commercial. ''Pusser'' is a corruption of Pursor, the officer in charge of ship's supplies and finances. My favorite was Lamb's Navy Rum. A friend used to work for British Airways, and would visit my family annually in Tucson. He and his wife would each buy a liter at the duty-free shop at Heathrow and present it to me. I got to be quite the Rum connoissuer. Sadly, one day Captain Morgan usurped Lamb's slot in the D/F shops. Not interested in underproof, artificially flavored rum for college girls. Also he retired and the free flights stopped. Lamb's isn't sold in CONUS. OBTW Antigua is pronounced 'Ahn-TEE-ga' by the Locals. No W sound. IDKY.
Black tot commercial? And very familiar with Pussers. I have multiple bottles of theirs including Deptford Dock Yard! It’s a shame their 151 isn’t available in the US. Hopefully someday!
@@therumchampion Bacardi stopped making their 151. Too many liability suits from parents of dumb college girls who burned their faces trying to drink flaming rum. I may still have a gill or so left. Enough to fill a pistol bottle.
I refuse any contract that doesnt honor my irish american us navy orphan right to 8pints Guinness per day, a pint of burgundy and a half pint of whatever liquor is strong enough to kill athletes foot when i piss on me feet.
The addition of the lime not only helped to eliminate scurvy, which is caused by a lack of vitamin C, but also led to the racists reference of calling British people "Limey's" as the British sailors were always seen sucking on the lime while enjoying their daily Tot. Sorry about that.

Really?! That’s wild but doesn’t seem too surprising. Sailors loved their grog haha

Facts are stubborn things.
I have some to pick some up and drink 10 oz on a real shitty day see what’s it like to be a sailor
Drinking that much rum in one day will probably lead to a shitty next day after as well lol
The thing is a tot is not enough to get a normal man drunk it's like
It’s like what?
He is wrong you were not given a half pint of rum It was a quarter pint with the water in it chuck.
It was an imperial half gallon prior to Admiral Vernon. After him it was diluted with 4 parts water.
