I'm a Norwegian knitter currently residing in Portugal. Like so many others, my fabulous late grandma (huge shoutout to all grannies!!) taught me how to knit. I've been knitting on and off since i was 5 and now I'm an old lady myself. I love this craft because there is always something to learn - no matter your experience level - and you learn from all experience levels as well 🫶
There's constantly movement on my needles and I love to design patterns too. I've been really missing hanging out with fellow knitters lately so thought why not utilise this wonderful knitting TH-cam community that has grown so much 🤍 Come hang out with me and talk about anything crafty, share knitting experiences and get some more knitting hacks under your belt.

Oh how beautiful Norway looks! Btw you looked gorgeous in all those outfits and the Moby sweater is perfect in pink. The kitten totally stole the show, clearly cat crack works. Currently I’m trying to figure out how I get Rauma Garn to Australia 😂
Aww, thank you so much 😊 Norway really is such a stunning place once you get passed the stormy winter weather. So glad you liked the outfits; the pink Moby sweater. Haha, I should've filmed when I gave the cat her liquid crack but I'll have to keep that ace for another video. As for Rauma Garn, I hope you manage to find an international dealer and try it at least once! It's been a family favourite for a long time. Good luck and happy holidays Kathryn! 🎄
Hey Susi.....yes! and then she lived happily ever after! with all that gorgeous YARN oh YES! So neat to see some of your home town. Beautiful nature. OMG your colour combo is what I have been yearning for for months. I thought the Blood orange and pink daisies hahaha....stunning colours aren't they. Thanks for your last comment to me "I hope you are well"...somehow I couldn't reply on their. Yes I am, and walking around well now and even doing my full on yoga again FIXED! 7 weeks now. So I wish you a Merry Christmas with your family and happy casting on. I so look forward to seeing your WIPs soon 🥰❤
Oh, thank you so much😊So glad to hear from you, Sharon - your comments always make me smile. Happy to hear you’re doing well and back to your yoga-what an amazing recovery🎉 I’m thrilled you love the color combo too - blood orange and pink daisies was actually next on my list - so funky. I kind of regret not going with that because the difference between these two is not that visible - it sort of leaves a raspberry -like colour. Wishing you a Merry Christmas as well! 🎄Take care ✨
@@caffeinated_granny I LOVE raspberry ! 😝🥰
need more details on liquid crack for cats 😂
I believe the official name is _"liquid snack"_ but I'm just calling them out for what it is.Even our sassy senior cat will do anything for this stuff and will make sure she gets every last drop out of the package! tried and tested on all of our family cats with the same result 😆
What's on your needles? I'm noticing a knitting accessory trend going on atm and I find myself influenced🎉
Susi, this one may have been my favorite episode so far! So fun too watch ❤ I’m also planning to do a cardigan and currently knitting mittens 😊
Thanks so much, Filipa 🫶So glad you enjoyed this one-it was a lot of fun to make! Can't wait to see your mittens finished, the color combo looked awesome
They’re out of stock of the beige/neutral colors 😢 But thank you for the tip anyway!
Oh nooo 😞 they're too popular... Hopefully they stock up soon
I am looking for some beige color of Sandnesgarn KOS to pair up with a single skein I have in a discontinued color. Indeed it is so difficult to find it here in Portugal. And of course I regret so much not buying the Peer Gynt last year when I was in Tromso. It would have made an amazing cardigan, I am sure. Hope you enjoy your Christmas back home 😊
Thank you Christina! I've never tried KOS but always heard great things, thank you for tipping me I will definitely have a look at the colour ways. I'm hunting for a burgundy colour to knit over Xmas but lets see. Have you tried Las Tijeras Magicas? They're Spanish and ship Sandnes garn to Portugal
Do you know the measurements for the different sizes. Ravelry just mentioned Small to XL and for me that can be vague. Hoping that I can knit this up for winter ☺☺
Thank you so much for pointing that out! I just added it to the Ravelry now! I really wanted to be size-inclusive with this one but lacked testers for 2XL and up..
so for the vest 3 strand hold together? 2strand of alpaca and karisma?
Yes, that's right
I really like your Heidi's Fancy Vest! 🧶Love the colors of your Cumulus Blouse and Moby Sweater.
Thank you for these recommendations, I actually find you really calming and so enjoyable ❤ Ps. You might like Martina from wegrowwild, she’s a breath of fresh air
Thank you so much for your kind words and rec, Kathryn! Will check her out, her channel name sounds promising. Take care ❤️
Really nice réalisation. Is it drops kid silk ? If so, could you give me the number of the color, because I don’t see purple, and it is a really a beautiful color. Thank you.
Thank you! It's brushed alpaca silk in sweet orchid 34
More more …. Thank you for these tips!
I have watched a few Bob Ross videos and have tried making some of his paintings.
How did it go? I've always wanted to try but I've been deterred by the price of oil painting 😬
What are you watching while knitting? I'd love to hear!
Thank you for sharing the channels with us..really enjoyed this video
Tysm - Glad you enjoyed it!
It was lovely to hear that you liked Budapest, I live there 😊. I have never been to the yarn shop where they sell Lana Grossa, but I am going to visit it 😊. I really like your podcasts 💕.
Thank you, Agnes 🌻So nice to hear you like the podcast. Lucky you living in Budapest, it's such a beautiful city. I plan to come back every year - especially now that I've seen online how Christmas looks there! You should go to the yarn shop if you love colour, the staff were really lovely. It's called 1001fonal.
@ thank you 💕. The Christmas markets in Budapest are amazing and a lot of fun 😊. If you are planning to visit the city again, it would be lovely to have a coffee together. I am also a caffeine addict and love the coffee shops in Budapest 😊.
@@Agnes_KR Perfect! Then you can show me all the good spots 🥰My fave so far is Massolit - such a nice spot to sit enjoy a cuppa and the scenery and knit

Hi Granny. What an engaging, beautiful vlog. Put my knitting down to read and follow and just LOVED. Thank you. Gorgeous hat. Great process. You have one lucky dog with your care too. 🥰
Thank you so much for your kind words, Sharon! So happy you loved the vlog and the cameos of my spoiled dog child. He's one of my greatest blessings in life. Hope the Hilly Hood is coming along and that your leg is getting better. Take care <3
ugh I wanna make this beanie so bad. also those noodles looked so good!!! and toto is adorable as usual
Stella, you need it in your life! It's a very addicting pattern so it flies by. The noodles were surprisingly tasty - definitely one of my more successful whatever's in the fridge meals. Thank you for watching <3
Watching this whilst working on the test knit for your sherpa vest feels very wholsome haha. Lovely beanie!
Oh, almost like we're knitting together! I hope you're enjoying the sherpa vest xx
Glad you came across my youtube feed, you're fun! New sub. I, too, love Budapest. Like your boucle vest, may knit one for teen granddaughter if you wind up publishing it.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and subscribed! Budapest really is just something else, isn’t it? They just need more yarn stores lol. I’ll definitely be sharing more about the pattern once it's done testing.

Your projects look amazing! Especially your fancy vest. 🧶
Thank you so much lovely 🥰 You are always so nice. Really enjoying your videos!
A few days ago I discovered an instagram post that said you could easily frog mohair by putting it in the freezer first. Has anyone out there tried it or am I being trolled? 😆
Ha....not trolled I believe. I have heard this several times also from different knitting sources, and apparently it works well. I haven't as yet knit with mohair so haven't tried an unravel. 😝Love to know how you go when and if you do Granny. So I have broken my leg and had surgery 😏 so lying now on the couch with leg elevated. It makes knitting harder, especially since my belly gets in the way. Anyhow....happily knitting on Anne Ventzel's Hilly Hood in chocolate for my Boston adult son. Their temps have plummeted, so I had better knit quickly. She pairs two yarns - my lace I have chosen is "Zealana Air Lace" - cashmere, possum and silk.....he is ONE lucky son!! (other nz merino) . You have cheered me up with your podcast thanks Granny. Thanks for showing us Budapest...looks magical, and discussing your yarn shopping so honestly. When we want something, we really WANT it don't we . 🥰🥰🙏
@@sharonmerton9812 I'm so sorry to hear about your leg! That sounds tough, but it’s impressive you're still managing to knit through it. The Hilly Hood in chocolate sounds perfect for Boston’s chilly weather-your son is indeed one lucky guy to have you knitting such a luxurious piece for him! How are you finding the Zealana Air Lace to work with? That blend of cashmere, possum, and silk must feel incredible 😍Sharon, I'm telling you know if you are happy with your knitting experience so far without trying mohair don't try it lol or at least only on a piece you know how to knit very well so there's no chance of unravelling! And I’m thrilled the podcast brought a little cheer your way-Budapest really was magical to explore. Take it easy, and happy knitting (as much as you can with that leg) 💕
@@caffeinated_granny Took a photo but can't load haha. Yes it feels luxurious but diluted by the merino. I am used to knitting garments so knitting an accessory is a treat....feel as though I am getting somewhere fast this time. SO many different experiences available to us with our craft isn't there. Thanks for the mohair advice. No need to go there so probably won't now 🙏 Keep well Granny - so appreciate your knitting experience shared. ❣
@@sharonmerton9812 Accessories are such a nice change of pace, aren’t they? It sounds like you’re really enjoying the process. Thank you for sharing your journey with me. Happy knitting, and take care!
Such a relaxing vibe and a really interesting process to watch for someone who, so far, has only used patterns. You have inspired me to give this a go. This video style was a perfect thing to watch whilst knitting and I would appreciate more in the future, thank you 😊
You are so welcome, thank you! Very happy you enjoyed the video while knitting, that was my goal yay
Love the color of your sweater. I wish I could do the Italian bind off like you! 🧶
Thank you so much! I'm glad you like the sweater color 😊 The Italian bind-off can be a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy
It was so relaxing to watch and knit alongside you. And also it is so cool to see each step of the process of someone knitting just one garment. It makes it feel more personal. I have to say I'm one of the few that enjoys doing the Italian bind off 😂. Thanks for the bird clips, I enjoyed those too!
I'm so glad you enjoyed knitting along with me! It really means a lot that you found the process personal and relaxing-sharing each step was a lot of fun. And yay, another fan of the Italian bind-off ✨️👏 Also happy you enjoyed the bird clips, my fave little dude was definitely Toto's support chicken 🐔
Brilliant!
Congratulations beautiful knit ❤

1. You don’t get to do “fall knits” from a city that stays a sunny and warm 23 degrees Celsius😂😂. You are absolutely lovely and I will be here for vlogs or podcast content. I love your aesthetic, but would slop hot cocoa on a white sweater. It is funny. In your last video you were commenting on how beautiful Celine is. I was thinking, “well this lady should talk!” So please know that you are beautiful to watch and listen to. I’m done love bombing you😘😘😘
Oh Sarah, you are too kind! I'd take your love bombing and reality checks any day 🥰😆I know I'm in denial but the Norwegian in me is still half expecting fall in mid-August - I'm not sure how long I'd be able to handle 32 degrees Celsius in my limited perception of fall lol. I can also relate to the hot cocoa on a white sweater comment.. You know I just took a 14-hour flight across the pond and the first thing I did when I sat down on that plane was to spill coffee all over my white Sabai top 👍
Hehehe it was me! About EkCorte Ingles, but I also explained you that it was not easy to find and it was down stairs 😂. About Drops yarn, you can find them to Traça Traps shop in Lisboa 😊. It's a beautiful shop in a very nice area. Enjoy!
Haha, of course it was you. Always full of excellent tips and tricks 🥰Unfortunately Traça Trapos closed in Lisbon this winter but at least it's very easy to find online if you plan a bit ahead
@@caffeinated_granny oh really? They closed at the end of the winter then because I was there last winter. But they have an other shop in Caldas da Raina and ship very quickly
@@emmapiontek8447 Yes, if I remember correctly they had a big sale at the end of March because they were closing shop.. A real bummer for the knitting community here...
Hey Granny. Love your vlogs whatever you choose to do. Trying to sort yarn colours for an adult son's men's Versal sweater. want to strand lace wt alpaca blue subtly into a dark earthy slightly marled merino yarn. Swatching now. 🥰
Oh, that sounds interesting! Hoping to catch a glimpse of that on your instagram. Hope it turns out well 💕

Which colour are you going for this time? I saw someone knitting it up in a light purple and was immediately smitten
@@caffeinated_granny Drops Extra Fine Mustard yellow 💛
@@QueensYarnBoutiqueOhh that's going to suit you so well 👏 Excited to see it on your channel
Susie you should try the new Portuguese brand Matti yarn for cotton, they have a awesome selection and a lot of retrosarias have the brand now 😊 you have a huge selection on craft company in Cascais and Retrosaria Rosa Pomar also has a lot of Rosarios 4! Unfortunately the only place in Lisbon that had drops closed this year 😢
tysm Filipa! I will check these out for sure. Uff, I was so sad when that yarn store closed down, the one close to alcantara right? Thankfully there's still a lot in Porto
oh and btw have you heard/tried the imagine yarn? I hear they're based in Portugal. I just saw a beautiful sweater knitted in one of their merino yarns today. Super curious to try
Which colour do you think I should pair with the musky brown for the giraffe knit? 🦒
I like the off white, cuz the giraffe pattern is easier to identify for me, but the lavender is pretty too!
You were so productive in your trip! The yarn I'm excited to try is from a local yarn shop here in Chile, I got some mohair to make the Oh my Hyacynth Blouse. Just trying to fix some issues I had with a cardigan before starting on that project.
That's blouse looks so cute! Which colour are you going for? Are you going for a single strand or double? Oh yes - way too productive. My body was not ready. It's almost been a week and I'm still verging on comatose whenever I go to sleep
@@caffeinated_granny I'm still thinking about what color to chose, I'm debatig if it should be lilac or a dark dusty pink either way I think I will hold it double. Hopefully you feel back to normal pretty soon!
What pattern is your sweater?😍
So glad you like it! It's my own pattern, I'm currently working on a second sample and writing the pattern. I'll be posting it in a couple of weeks:) stay tuned
You’re sweater is looking so cosy 😍 I love it. I’ve just bought some local yarn from the Lake District, 🇬🇧 It’s a red fox sheep yarn, it’s quite “woolly “ but should make a lovely warm hat😊 Utah looks stunning!
Thank you Victoria! That sounds like it would make a super cosy hat. I've never heard of red fox sheep yarn, I just looked it up and it did not disappoint 🐑❤️

Totally agree. Love your gentle approach. Just chill. 🥰🙏 Looking forward to seeing your sweater. Lovely shaping already. thanks for teaching us.
One thing that immediately comes to my mind is, as a beginner, choose LIGHT COLOURS for your first projects. You see the stitches much better and can understand better what exactly you are doing. Maybe it is only me though, but even as a frequent knitter I find lighter colours easier to work with.
Yes!! That is so true - thank you for adding this great tip to the comment section. To add to that, I definitely tend to choose lighter colours when I do textured knits like cables etc - it just shows off better.
Thanks for sharing. I made a lot of these mistakes as a beginner knitter. 🧶
Gorgeous. Thanks Gran 🥰
