My thing is mainly capturing images of interest and editing to music. Most tracks of music have some kind of connection in one way or another with the vision sequences.
Drone vision of trains is as much about Tasmania's landscape as about the trains and I hope you are able to watch and absorb videos of interest to you in the highest resolution possible. The drone vision has all been shot in 4k.
The old VHS material has survived quite well considering the fact it has been sitting magnetically stored for all these years. It is being transferred using a Canopus AVDC-300, an old but good piece of kit that allows for some refinement in the transfer process. Initial VHS postings are of very average quality as they are VHS to VHS edits. As time permits, some of these will be digitally edited from original VHS tapes and re posted.
Stacks more to come, both archival and current, both rail and other topics. Check out Roudeep and Jay Aliyev - awesome music producers :-)

Commuting By Cable - Melbourne's old cable tram system
In 1988 the now disbanded Association of Railway Enthusiasts funded and produced several videos with the assistance of ABC employees of the time.
Commuting by Cable, the predecessor to 'Melbourne by Tram' and expertly edited by Richard Norman, captures many aspects of what was Melbourne's cable tram operations along with streetscapes, fashions and the way of life at the time.

Last Great Train Ride - A Forsayth Adventure (1991) Digital Edit & Update, 2024
มุมมอง 4.8K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
A digital re-edit and update of 'A Forsayth Adventure', posted sometime ago. It has also been processed through Topaz AI, which continues to struggle with processing foliage detail and text, seemingly no matter what AI model is utilised. It has excelled though, with the removal of video noise in low light conditions where the camera gain has been cranked right up.

A quick throw together of a bit more NSW north coast VHS material from way back. Think it was 1992, will check. A huge thank you to the awesome crew on the train. If someone could help out with identifying the main locations it would be appreciated.

Loved every minute. Thank you. 😊
To say this is a masterpiece of work does not do your filming, editing or music choice true recognition. Thank you for sharing.
This form of transportation made our nation. Revise, reimagine and rebuild to suit 2050’s requirements.
Terrific music choice at 6:50 or so!
Great video of a time gone bye. Thanks for sharing with us.
The 1990s were always 10 years ago.
If you want to meet me at the rosewood dump i can take you to one of these old gems rotting in the scrub
They should really build modern versions of these to run between regional centres.
Great footage of time gone by. Reminds me of my time travelling to and from Taroom as a 14/15 yr old fore work. Took the Wallangarra mail from Brisbane to Toowoomba then a railmotor to Wandoan, then car to Taroom. There was one part of the Toowoomba range where the train virtually turned back on itself and if you were in the carriage you could wave to the train crew.
A very tasteful compilation of some great footage from an interesting time in our railways past. Great work mate!
Iconic footage and photographs from a bygone era.
That footage of Roma Street yards made me gasp. This was all before my time, but it’s incredible how recognisable yet different it is.
Great footage 🎉 🇬🇧👍
Superb video. Much better than the QR promotional films of the era and earlier. Thank you so much for posting.
Great video and music, it makes me angry to see all this gone. In my opinion this was the railways last stand before Labour was elected in December the following year and it and the Labour governments that followed set about systematically destroying the rail network. Toowoomba should have an hourly train service seven days a week in my view but there is a total lack of vision on both sides of politics these days with regards to this, one final note those 2000 class were one of the most attractive trains ever built.
Great footage and takes me back to my teenage years , rail fanning around Brisbane and Toowoomba. Really miss the Blue and Grey paint scheme. I'm so glad I got to see the best of QR before it became "modern " railway we see today. Cheers Gregg.
Sensational footage. We are so lucky that people like you are still uploading this material in 2025. Your videos have reminded me that some of the most interesting railways in Australia were outside NSW and Victoria.
Good video, like ..
Great video! At 21:26 - Workshops Train W1, at Walloon with Evans Set 18 mixed in with CLVs.
Who was the driver photographed towards the end, Ted? I finished senior in 1993, but was still going to work with Dad. He finished in 1994, I never knew that most of the railmotor services had finished in 93.
Adrian was Kelvin your Dad ?
@brucebaker480 yes
@@adriannettlefold9084 I had the pleasure of working with him at Rio Tinto.
@brucebaker480 Didn't we do high school together in Gympie? Do you hear from anyone? Antoinette?
Happy New Year and thanks for the good videos in 2024 Ted. No guards van, 1:05, just a Brahma bull in a stockwagon! Always something quirky from QR, a destination board at the front of many of the loco's as seen at 1:29 mark. Some of those QLD rail motors (10:22 mark) out at the Zig Zag Railway in NSW. The Goods Sheds at the end of the video, from a time when all parcels and freight went by train, no matter small the item too. You can see the relation between the "DH" loco's and the NSW "73" class, both Caterpillar and built by Walkers. Cracking collection, thanks Ted.
I wonder where is Rosewood turntable now?
Probably being used as one of them fancy round tables in palaces and mansions
Was bought by the late E.K Handcox, it is near the Showgrounds stored and was bought for the Rosewood Railway, but never was installed.
"Once busy"... I drive around the Lockyer Valley each day and imagine the railways of the past. Thank you for your video upload and efforts.
Excellent video!Music is perfect and footage also.I am train driver that spent time om this line between 2018-2023.This is a masterpiece!
Seen this ages ago
love this, takes me back. Nice one.
"how great were these little beasts " Ted i still remain a massive fan of the X class
brilliant work Ted if i had my way Stewie and kyle could run Tasrail all by themselves with ZA1 and 6 get Match to assist with 866 and send the TRs into bass strait to rot
Fantastic time capsule for Melbourne and Victoria.
😂
When drivers could drive ‘em like they were meant to be driven! 💪🏻 Also there were points and tracks everywhere. Options you say..? I signed up way too late. 😓
Hey there Ruffas, it was very much a different world back then. Extremely boring these days by comparison and hardly a railway.
Rather depressing Ted. Some more uploads will help with the depression.. maybe 😂
@@XDESP80 Ive been having a bit of a break and focussing on other things for a while. Uploaded Commuting By Cable over the weekend - whilst prob not your kinda thing, its well worth a look and has been put together really well by my mentor editor from the ABC in Melbourne back in 1988. I'm currently working on another QLD video. Got prob another two years worth of video work to do, so plenty more to come, including Tassie material.
@@XDESP80 I believe there's currently 11 dodgy locos out of service - thats getting close to half the fleet! Just to add to your depressive thoughts!
I was actually lucky back just before this train stopped running, I was a relief station master/night officer at the time and was relieving at Kuranda for 3 weeks and I went down to cairns to meet the sunlander as my wife at the time and our kids were on the sunlander and we got to ride the last great train ride from Cairns up to Kuranda, from memory I think there was at least 3 passenger carriges on the rear and the gaurds van was one with platform at each end so going up the Kuranda range at night was great when riding in the guards van.
Amazing as always 😊
Absolutely enjoyed every minute of this one Ted. Good Stuff, mate.
What a magnificent insight into the operation of the railways of yesteryear. Fantastic part of the world too. I often drive past the Almaden station and marvel at the size of the land surrounding it and try and picture it in its heyday.
0:48 who can make a that long oooooooo sound?
I’m 54 and remember getting train from Seven Hills to Town Hall from 1983 to 1985 the from Carlingford to Town Hall going to school from 1986 to 1988 , great memories, I threw my Boater of the Harbour Bridge 86 from a red Rattler with other school mates. ex St Andrew’s Boy Sydney now resides Upper North Shore near Knox Wahroonga
As a Melbournian, I thank you for posting this fantastic video - and I say that as someone who hates trams!
Im still loving your editing Ted, really top shelf stuff
"Nothing special" Man you got footage of a UK Steamer on our tracks! That's some special footage. By far my favorite find on TH-cam.
I'm from Grafton in New South Wales. My one and only visit to Melbourne was in July 1995. It was my first experience of trams. I can hardly express the sheer joy I felt in getting around the city by this safe, clean, convenient and efficient mode of public transport.
I loved the natural air conditioning of the old red rattlers on hot summer days. Standing by the open doors was also a favourite way of riding the trains. Thanks for a reminder of good times on Sydney trains.
Quite 'The Good Old Days'. How life has changed. Thx for messaging.
Hi Ted, great vid. What’s the name of that song?
Thx Pete. The track is Oliver Sim - GMT (Jamie xx Remix)
You should have stuck with the white man policy cope it now idiots. The smart arses that suggested to bring any one should be put in jails and there descendent
The N Class seemed mightier in orange! :-)
Love those big old cludes 14:57
I remember the hum of the turbines. Feel it all through the body. The gun oil smell, and everyone in overalls hard at work.
Magnificent old gear. Soon to be consigned to history / static display.
Worth preserving, Ted
Great video, subbed to your channel.
Awesome, thank you!
So the tram lines are standard gauge, but the trains run on broad gauge. Shame they didn't think it through when establishing the rail system.
