Thx Peter. I would normally have had a greater variety of shots, including some short detail shots of things associated with the work, but I was short on time that day. Will do more later though.
Thx Graham. I was wondering if I should do an occasional update of works, so now that theres been a bit of interest i shall do. Subsequent coverage will have a greater variety of shots :-)
Indeed the lack of rail is so short-sighted, especially now we need mass transit and some form of reliable inter-city public transport that so many Tasmanians would need. We have double standards for infrastructure costs, even though being totally dependent on cars has huge costs, they're normalised, whereas we don't have perspective of the positives (personal & societal) and fewer costs of sustainable transportation modes -- including the big maintenance sticking point. So much money goes to the roads which could be reduced with alternatives.
Interesting. A series of barges will be used for the new construction as shown here: th-cam.com/video/M-wjDmTYqTo/w-d-xo.html Will the old bridge with the currently disused railway be retained for possible future use??
Thanks for the link Zane - hadnt seen it. Some very good graphics in it. I'm not sure whats happening with the old formation etc, I keep hearing different versions of what is planned. But every politician should be ashamed of themselves for their short sightedness for not having space for rail on the new bridge, something guaranteed to be regretted in years to come.
Cracking! A great record of how it all looks at the moment.

Thanks for that. Would love to see some update flyovers as the project progresses.

I noticed a few weeks ago the crossing to Granton the rail has been removed, wonder if ever they'll get the TTMS trains across the river
Sadly I doubt it :-(

Agree totally with each point. The enormous costs associated with road transport, whether it be cars or trucks, is indeed 'normalised'
Will vessels be able to pass under it?
I expect small craft will be able to though I dont know what height the bridge will be over the actual river channel
