Processed sugar sugar is typically added to a wide range of foods and drinks to improve their taste. They are commonly used in packaged products, all of which are heavily processed and low in nutrients. Refined sugars can increase your risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease or worsen your diabetes condition. So let’s see what steps you should take to cut down on processed sugar.
Step #1: Rethink your drinks. Sugary beverages can be one of the biggest sources of processed sugar intake. For example, a 12-ounce can of soda contains 8 teaspoons of added sugar. Also, drinks that you may consider healthy, such as smoothies and fruit juices, can still contain astounding amounts of it. The worst thing about sweetened beverages is that your body doesn't recognize calories from them in the same way as those from food. Calories from drinks are absorbed quickly, resulting in a rapid increase in your blood sugar level.
Step #2: Try to cook from scratch. I know that for most of you, frozen meals are great timesavers. But they are full of salt, preservatives, and, of course, processed sugars. So try to cook at home when it’s possible. Some recipes may need some added sugar, but you’ll still end up using far less of it than any food company.
Step #3: Don't cut all processed sugar immediately. Do it step by step. For example, you can start cutting out sugary beverages, limiting sugary desserts after a week, and so on. Also, if you usually enjoy your coffee with 2 tablespoons of sugar, try reducing it to 1 tablespoon. Or, if you're baking your treats like cookies, brownies, or cakes, cut the sugar by one-third or even one-half. Doing too many things at once can lead to burnout and, ultimately, failure.
Step #4: Read the food labels. That’s the best way to understand how much sugar is in each product. The product's ingredients are listed by quantity - from highest to lowest amount. For example, if corn syrup is listed in the first few ingredients, the product you're buying will contain a high portion of it. So it's always a good idea to be mindful when eating, especially when decreasing processed sugar intake.
Step #5: Add more fruits to your diet. Do you often add syrup, brown sugar, or chocolate chips into oatmeal or yogurt to make it sweeter? Make the change by adding some fruits or berries to sweeten your meal without adding processed sugar. The sugar found in fruits is a great way to add that extra zing to your dishes and satisfy your sweet tooth.

Its' true. Type 2 Diabetic wearing CGM. I notice whenever I feel anxious, my sugar will spike higher despite eating a-anot-so-much carb meal that normally won't spike my sugar level

So basically no or low carb meals? I have a family member with Diabetes, High Blood Pressure AND High Cholesterol. She is as stubborn as a mule with her food AND she has some food allergies, so making sure she eats properly is always a challenge. These are some really good meals I can make her, however I know the pork chops won’t be ideal for her. Thanks for the good recipe ideas!

Hero breads on amazon..1 or 2 net carbs..all good ingredients..seeded or white bread, hamburger buns, hot dog buns and rolls..they are expensive but to me worth it..order like on modays..freshly made..and i separate and use ziplock bags and refrigerate..it only takes a few minutes to thaw or take out the night before and keep in refrigerator..

All bread is sugar so no bread, low carbs, no rice, no fruit, no pasta, no snacks. Eat more animal based food so you can eat less meals because it keeps you full. I eat two meals a day can’t sack because I’m always full. I have no more blood pressure medication and lost 16 kilo in 3,5 months.

If I had continued following this kind of advice I could never have reversed type 2 diabetes. I began my very low carb journey back in 2017 after ten miserable years of trying to treat/manage diabetes with the very kind of advice you are talking about in this video and I continued to get worse with more and more terrible diabetic complications. Today I’m now 7 years into diabetic reversal and over 6 free of diabetic medications. In a nutshell, in order for me to reverse T2 Diabetes I had to stop listening to guidelines like you are talking about here. 3 meals a day and snacks in between, holy sweet lord there is no hope of putting diabetes into remission or reversal. I ditched the carbs, starches and sugars plus all vegetable and seed oils. I also completely stopped eating all processed pseudo/ fake junk food. And look what happened. No more diabetes and no more diabetic complications. Yes going low carb keto actually reversed those terrible complications as well as the diabetes. If anyone is interested in reversing this global killer disease I would highly recommend you check out Dr Ken Berry’s TH-cam channel where you’ll find common sense solutions for your type 2 diabetes and pre diabetes. By going low carb I long ago lost all desire to snack/graze. My tastebuds have been totally reset. I no longer crave carbs and sugars. I can live very happily on 1-2 meals a day without snacks in between. I very rarely feel hungry. Thankfully my days of treating/managing diabetes are now long behind me. I will finish off by letting people know that we do not need carbs in order to live happy and healthy lives. Carbs are NOT essential.
