People Leaving Michigan Are COMING BACK!
People Leaving Michigan Are COMING BACK! Michigan-home of the Great Lakes, incredible fall colors, and approximately 10 million potholes per square mile, I mean people oops. Yet, while some of us are holding on to this mitten-shaped wonder for dear life, others are packing up faster than you can say "pure Michigan." However, it’s no secret that Michigan has seen a significant outflow of residents in recent years. While many people leave for a variety of reasons, what’s equally interesting is that some of them find their way back to the state. What causes this back-and-forth migration? Let’s take a detailed look at why people leave Michigan-and why they return.

27 year resident. even in otsego at one point. i'd never heard of singapore before
The paulding light in the UP is a good one to look up
Good report. But TH-cam's a visual medium and there were numerous opportunities to show what you were describing. The actual woods where Singapore existed, Lake Michigan's Stonehenge, and the large underwater rock slabs near Port Austin. Photos or short video clips of these scenes should have played as your description was told.
I live in Muskegon MI and about a mile down the road from me is a lake that has a legend of having no bottom, back in the 1950s my dad and his uncle were fishing on the lake and all of a sudden the boat was being lifted up they both just hung on it was a fish that was longer and wider then their boat then the fish desended,it freaked them out, I am living in our family home and I would think that fish must still be alive in there? Don't know if it died wouldn't it have floated to the top?
😊 born and raised in Michigan USA 🇺🇸 I love watching your video. Please look into Grindstone City.
But yet the roads are crappy in the winter go figure
Don’t tell people to move here, there’s enough traffic as is lol. Tell them to move west.
To all your hedonists, thinking about coming back to Michigan-don’t! You have to have toughness and determination to live here. Stay in paradise!
Pow camps
I have lived in lake Orion my whole life and i agree with everything you said. Lake Orion does have a pretty good school district and teachers for the most part and yes we love to shop locally and do lots of festivals. Lake Orion is so big that it’s like two towns in one I’m walking distance to downtown lake Orion the only thing bad is the traffic really but it’s still not as bad as others say people just don’t have no patience. 🙏🏻✝️🥰 and I also love my churches out of lake Orion called living army and Kensington too. 🙏🏻
I'm from Ludington Michigan on December 20th 1985 I spotted several UFOs hovering over Lake Michigan also in Silver Lake Michigan there are several houses buried under Silver Lake Sand Dunes
I heard of a place outside of Detroit where a huge metal slab is located , supposedly, its purpose is to cover a cave or mine entrance that the local government placed there some time ago . Have you ever heard of this place .
Blah blah blah yackity yakety smackity blah blah blah 😂
And the very last hot & now is located in sturgis Michigan As well as one of the few remaining drive inn movie theaters The capri drive inn Located in coldwater mi
Well done video. I've lived in LO most of my life, never thought about all the things to do here. You're right - it really is just an average Tuesday 💚🤍 I would like to see some more attractions nearby, but I am ok with how it is now. Traffic is already terrible. Forget about going anywhere quickly on M24 6a-10a and 3p-8p. Back your patience lol. One unique thing is that we're essentially split into 2 towns. The side closest to Oxford/along M24 is one town. The rest is like an entirely different, yes the same, town.
Yes on bf.
I went on a tour in the Detroit Mines when I was a kid. We still have the salt pieces that we were allowed to take from the mines. Looking back at it, I would be so scared to go nowadays. Seeing the pictures of my family in the mines creeps me out. It was fun back in the day though!
I wonder when they’re gonna find the big clue as to where Jimmy Hoffa was put if that’s how I should say that
My great great grandfather, a miner and farmer, moved to the thumb in the mid 1880s to pinnebog that is inland with a river running through it, he removed lumber that had sunk in the river on his property and ended up buying one of the doctors house's from port crescent and moved it to pinnebog. Can u imagine doing that in the 1880s? Thanks for sharing!
I grew up in Lansing most of my entire life and it does get boring here and everyone complains but when you leave you get homesick lol. I moved to Florida at 19 and it was way too muggy out, hated the brown recluse spiders always in and around my house, can't swim in their lakes, I know their locals do, but that's on them I just couldn't enjoy myself wondering if I'll be ate. I moved to Vegas at 24 and I loved the blue sky's every day but there's practically no grass there and next to no water or woods type atmosphere that I love about Michigan. Our upper peninsula is beautiful and cost of living is alright but that's rising fast here as well. As much as I complain about the winters and the roads here this I think will always be my home
I dont think i ever will move from Michigan. My family and I camped like it was life before i was born and all through out my childhood. We have been everywhere, and its because of that i have made a personal choice based on our travels and stays to not move to another state. Im too primitive for the city and do not have patience for the ignorance that so heavily plagues cities these days.
skooner, not shooner
Isn't there a stone ring in Lake Huron as well?
I think it should be said that the Michigan triangle mentioned in the video has restricted airspace directly above it were the Airforce conducts drills, and other secret operations.
Living in Wisconsin, I still feel myself a Michigander
Man-ta-wak
Sick of clips like this, click the link and it goes on and on and on.
I left in 2008 because I couldn't get my career even started. Got a job right away after moving to Denver. Came back in 2017 to be closer to family again. I also love not having DUI checkpoints, "safety" checkpoints, or red-light cameras.
Michigan has the highest car insurance rates in the country good reason to move back!
Moved back last year and bought a house.
How’s it been so far?
@LivingInMichigan I just closed today. It's been a process. It's nice being back. Delaware was a strange place lol. Jersey and Connecticut were cool. I think the familiarity is what I like about Michigan the most, but a lot has changed in 10 years.
Have a lot of reasons to love Michigan ☺️
Right there with ya!
I heard of the stone hedge in lake michigan and the triangle. since i'm close to lake michigan but i didn't know my favorite spot to see the sunset from the dunes was a ghost town buried in sand
Northwestern Ohioan here. I know most Michiganders hate Ohio, but I’m a fan of MI. The UP is so awesome to visit in the summer when it gets too hot down here. And who can knock Mackinac Island, for example? Ann Arbor is a great college town with deep-dish pizza that rivals Chicago’s any day. I like being around all the freshwater. Saltwater is nasty to me. Anyway, Michigan, give us some love. It’s not all about football. 😂
@@deborahsemaan1341 Never understood the hatred as a life long Michigander. Can’t we all play nice! 😂
There's a Michigan Triangle?
I'm about as Motor City as you can get, born in Henry Ford Hospital and raised in Rochester by an engineer for GM. I left after High School to live in the Rocky Mountain west, did a lot of other exploring around the country for decades. When it came right down to it I could not see retiring anywhere but home, now live in the UP where we still have winter! Best move I ever made.....
Born there, 1985. Moved out around 97. First generation at the new elementary school. Vega video rented me my NES games. Sister worked at Griffith veterinary, took Tae Kwan Doe next door.
If you're a Michiganader. People, food, price, and freedom. You feel you can let loose in Michigan then in most places. Everybody loves the 4 the season here. Even if it happens all in one day
Ypsilanti is my hometown. Highlights are the downtown area, Riverside-Frog Island Park, and the Ypsilanti Water Tower. My only issues with Ypsilanti is mainly gentrification, schools struggling, and crime in certain parts of the city (not as bad as other places I’ve visited though). EMU is an okay university, but the Board of Regents are corrupt.
We just moved back after 6 years in the south.
Hurricanes and tornadoes? No thanks. I'll take Michigan any day.
There are no hurricanes in MI.
@@deborahsemaan1341 Of course not. I don't get your comment.
I’ve been to 11 countries and 28 states. Michigan is a great place to live. Never leaving
I love Michigan but im over the governor and her bs and cronies and the court system here is a joke... Ive had enough. Whitmer said she was going the exponge everyones weed charges when weed was legalized, she hasnt done a damn thing but make the state worse. She just keeps writing executive order after order and im done. Maybe someday i will come back but come summer im going to Arkansas.
Left in 87...enjoying Southside Virginia today
Lifelong Michigander here and wouldn't live anywhere else. Also, In tax year 2023, Michigan began a four-year phase-out of its retirement income tax. By the 2026 tax year, pensions and income from 401(k) and IRA withdrawals will be fully exempt from state income tax. And Northern Michigan near Traverse City is becoming a tech hub. Now that Michigan won a national championship last year, the Detroit Lions are and Detroit Tigers are due this year.
Honestly the best advice I can give us to find something that you will look forward to doing in the colder weather. Skating, skiing, ice fishing, or snowmobile riding. You will make it through those months much easier.
Well said!
Left for 30 yrs. Came back to care for my aging parents. Will leave again !
Love Michigan, but it is not prepared for the switch to EVs- we are going to have another auto collapse
i am from white cloud Michigan don't forget about dungeon swamp my father at 75 years old got lost in there 2019 was found 3 weeks latter passed away no bugs on him no de-comp great shape .
Michigan is a liberal shithole
Every county, state and country has their own legends. Some peoples response is like that of an Ostrich..they truly believe that if they stick their heads in the ground and they can't see you then you can't see them. Some people believe with their heads and others with their whole being. If they haven't experienced it or it isn't proven without a doubt then it can't be true. I believe with my heart and my soul that there are many things in this world that I will not experience or ever see but exist anyway. I enjoy hearing legends from all over and I thank this man for sharing. I do live in Michigan and have for 72 years. I have heard hundreds of legends and stories and many I do believe, some I have witnessed and others make me smile.
