@@TingTingalingy that is honestly the most ignorant comment I have ever seen in my life. My area code where I was born is 313 then 734 and now is 906. Your original comment is partially true but wrong at the same time. The population up here isn’t growing and it’s slowly declining but most are not leaving. As the saying goes people in the north are tougher. The U.P. Isn’t for everyone but for the people that live here we wouldn’t have it any other way. You should think before you say something like I haven’t been to Michigan. Born and raised and it’s a beautiful state when you get north of the bridge. Lower Michigan has some nice spots but nothing like the U.P. Michigan has just over ten million people and the U.P. Has roughly only three hundred thousand. If you know a trade and are good at it then you can have a excellent living. If you ever head up here check out the porcupine mountains or the Sturgeon Falls. The Sturgeon Falls is work to get to them but beautiful.
I left for four years in the military. During that time away I traveled nearly around the world. I rarely saw four seasons as most of the time I was in tropics or sub tropics. I also saw most of the world lacked a lot of what we have. You might say I was homesick. Michigan is beautiful, and I am now retired here. I rarely travel out of this great state. Love it here.
Northwestern Ohioan here. I know most Michiganders hate Ohio, but I’m a fan of MI. The UP is so awesome to visit in the summer when it gets too hot down here. And who can knock Mackinac Island, for example? Ann Arbor is a great college town with deep-dish pizza that rivals Chicago’s any day. I like being around all the freshwater. Saltwater is nasty to me. Anyway, Michigan, give us some love. It’s not all about football. 😂
I was born here but moved out of state three times for work. I began working remotely in 2016 and immediately returned. The cost of living in Oklahoma and West Virginia just as high - if not higher- and the infrastructure in both those states was horrible. Four inches of snow shuts them down for days, medical care is spotty at best, and the schools are bottom of the barrel.
Loved this video. You could also say Michigan has a very strong sense of family no matter who you are. Also the neighbourhoods and schools. People keep connected to the people they knew from these places. Unique to Michigan. If you are from here, you know.
