    Looking great man! Do you have any plans to paint the ducking to make it blend in more? Perhaps finding a colour that resembles the stone and a colour that resembles the pointing and then painting “stones and pointing” on to the ducting so that it blends in? Might be worth trying with an extra piece of ducting you have laying around to see how it looks.

      It's on the bottom of the list for now, but I agree it could look better. I'd like to paint it, but I don't think it could disappear into the wall so rather than hiding it I would maybe put it forward with a bold color scheme. Or as a person suggested maybe a limewash could be nice.

    Would some type of floor leveling compound solve the issue with varying slopes? I know it would probably be a large quanity potentially but it’d be like adding a layer of concrete then you can epoxy the floor

    • @thevaultedworkshop765
      @thevaultedworkshop765 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah it would, and I've looked a little bit at those and how to apply them. It seems quite a task and I don't think that having a perfect floor is mandatory for a workshop. And I'd like to have it done as quickly as possible. But I may change my mind. It would allow for some kind of pvc flooring. The epoxy process does not appeal to me that much. I'd prefer a good floor paint over it. Easier to apply and touch up.

      Thank you ! That's some dedication, glad you like the serie. For the undercellar, I'm sorry to say that the prospect of emptying it is receding in probability every time I add some dirt in it... I'd really like to do something with it at some point but the hassle/benefit scale is not very favorable. As for the tunnel unfortunately that's not something I would explore since it's not under the property parcel. And the collapse happened for a serious reason it seems, probably heavy work on the "new" street above. So it would be very very tricky to undo that.

    • @thevaultedworkshop765

    If it's just condensation then that's a relief. But that means you'd need to either warm the space itself, or warm the outside air before it comes in, or take warm air from the higher levels of the building to create an overpressure and a draft to displace the radon laden air. All of them will increase your energy bill… It's better than puddles of water and humidity. I hope you can find a balance and trade-off that works for you. Perfect scenario for paralysis by analysis. I'm thinking that the vaulted deeper cellar was water basin. Came from the tunnel which is blocked off. On the opening theres a slope to the pit. So I'm thinking there was some kind of workshop that needed water, so they lifted the water from the basin to the slope which ran to the pit. With pump or buckets to gravity fed into the pit. Clay work, some kind of tanning, no idea whatsoever it could have been 🤔 No idea have you figured it out since this is from five years ago but there is my thought on that.

      Thanks for the insight! I think it makes sense, but it's difficult to say it the undercellar was contemporary with the water basin. I'm convinced that at some point the cellar was used as a smith shop, the stone stairs lead to the "smith's street" but it would not explain the basin in my opinion. So maybe the basin and the canal dug into the rock is more ancient than the current layout of the cellar and also maybe the undercellar.

    I had a celler with yorkstone flags on the floor Most of the year it was dry But when it got a bit humid damp spots would come up in the same place every time. Once we got fresh air into it it just disappeared. We put it down to condensation.

      I think that's right, thanks to another viewer who contacted me and had the same issue. This place in particular is cold and the warm hair from outside condenses in those places. Seems to makes sense.
