  • At last the secondary cellar is finished. Happy with the result, but I need to contemplate the work in the main cellar now. Sorry for the infrequent updates, I will try to do better. "Cacave" means poop-cellar it's a pun.

Very clever solution for the flooring! I wanted to see a stone floor like that but the decking is a great idea to solve your issues

I was watching another channel about humidity in a house, one of the comments was from Malaysia where it is hot and humid. The guy says people over there keep a large vase full of wood charcoal in the bedroom to reduce humidity. If you bought a sack and put it in shallow (75mm) cardboard boxes so you could set them on the floor, you could test the theory 😁. It wouldn’t cost a lot and is a win-win test, if it works - great, if not you have something to BBQ with. 😁😁

Painting the concrete wall with some sort of vapour barrier may help a little.

Thanks, maybe I'll try some whitewash in this area. But I think the main ingress of water is from above the concrete and the seeping between concrete and stones. I'm wary of trying to keep the moisture in because we're so low in the ground I'm afraid it will find a way that's worse. But maybe allowing the surface to "breathe" and evaporate the water better is a good idea. Food for thought, thanks !

Brilliant, let's hope it's not another 7 months until the next video tho. 👍👍

I'll try. It's just so much easier to go wok in there for an hour or two without thinking about the video making and stuff.

The slats are perfectly ok for that application, they won't rot any time soon. I have used the pure black ones before (any other 'color' other than black is a chemical step-away from the original formula, because they have to bleach the materials) and they are very resilient even against traffic. I was introduced to them by a friend who has used them as a floating pontoon surface at his lake house. So they're quite good if they can stand up being out in the water/elements.

Good to know ! I was told that they become brittle after some years in the sun and elements, but it's not going to be an issue for me :) Only dampness. Pretty nice to cut as a material, the tabs to fix them to the beams are a bit meh though.

Thanks for the update, merci boucoups😁 can you let us know how it’s going with the humidity? Is it coming down and if it is by how much? Looking back, this is some project you have taken on. Will be manifique when finished 😁😁

Thank you. The humidity is coming back unfortunately with the cold weather. It's relatively under control in the main cellar but bad in the under-cellar and the secondary cellar. You can see a leak from the street, top of the concrete wall. So mixed results so far. But that's an idea for another video !
