This tent isn’t thought trough, it has a bug net, and yet theres a hole 1-2 fingers wide where the zippers meet, which makes the bug net useless. You might be ok mosquito wise, but nothing will protect you from ticks, spiders and other crawling insects
WOW! I don't know how I missed this one. Stellar content!
Really enjoyed your vid,and subbed you, look forward to the next. Do luke a bivvy camp, nice one.
Hi, great to hear you enjoyed the vid, I do like taking the bivvy out, simple easy set up and different to being enclosed in a tent. Thanks for the sub and hope you enjoy my next trip out. 👍🍻
Are the seams taped on the fly sheet or do you still have to do it yourself with the supplied silicone? TNF can’t tell me! Doh!
All seams are taped, definitely 100% waterproof without any additional seam sealing, only 1 place I would seam seal , I will point it out in my next video soon.
@@residentoutdoors2303 Great stuff, thank you. Do these now come with the groundsheet protector included? It used to be an accessory but you can’t get them anywhere.
@martynhudson394 mine never came with a footprint, I just use my old mango spectre footprint which near enough fits right once I fold the sides in. Also IPK kit sheet is a good fit too.
Is it over 3kg mate.?
I believe it is 3.85kg in weight without footprint ,so it is no lightweight that's for sure.
Hello from the town of Dandridge in East Tennessee.
Hi, Thankyou for watching and leaving a comment, great to know my video has made it all the way to Dandridge. All the best. Matt. 🙂
Cracking cloud inversion there Matt, and a real bomber of a tent. Hope you feel better now.
Cheers mate 👍🍻🍻
Morning lad 👍. Great ta see once again.. They was a tanker came in too milford an I thought.... I wonder how is getting. On lol... Well mate hope your or right after this an family. Tc Andy 👍🔥🇬🇧
Hi mate, great to hear from you, am myself and family all good thanks for asking and hope all is well for yourself too. 😎👍🍻🍻
Very glad you are back with the videos Matt, I’ve certainly missed your content and beer reviews. I hope you got over your bug quickly. All the best, Roo 👍🏻
Hi mate, cheers for dropping a comment, nice to hear from you. 3 days i was down for with that illness. Definately great to be back out doing what i love best outdoors.
Hey, Sorry that you weren't feeling well. I'm glad to see that you took ole' reliable out with you on your camping adventure. (Based on the last venture with that god-awful tent you took). Wouldn't you know it that there would be no wind or bad weather when you took the one of the most sturdy tents on the market out. Oh well.....that's life! Good on ya for getting out!
Hi, definately felt better in the NF 25 knowing that whatever weather was to come i would be safe. Certainly a far superior tent to the previous tent i tested thats for sure.. I must admit i did enjoy taking it out on another adventure again.. i am definately pleased to have it no two ways about it 👍👍
How heavy is that tent? Looks 4 or 5k is it?
4.5 kg so no lightweight thats for sure
Good to see you back matt. Been a while I had checked in a few times to see if you had any new videos. Nice video as always.
Hi mate.hope you are well... been a while i know.. busy busy. And i hadn't bothered taking my camera the few times i did get out.. but good to get a video in for sure.. hopefully more to come. 😎👍👍
First like ofc
👍
Wow I can feel the cold from here! Great review and documenting through those conditions!
Certainly was a cold adventure out, thanks for watching . 🙏💫
One of these tents on marketplace this week and nearly bought it, great tent and video mate 👍
Cheers mate, yeah definitely a well built tent, will be throwing up another video soon of another trip out using this tent, its a heavy lump, but when the weather gets rough i am happy to have it thats for sure.
You still alive and well?
Certainly am mate thanks for asking. Been a little busy in real life past year, finally made it out the other day for another trip in the lakes , hope you are well 😉👍🍻🍻
@@residentoutdoors2303 That's good to hear mate. I came across one of your old vids that I commented on and thought I would check out if you had uploaded anything new. Did you film your recent trip?
@@shaunwild8797 certainly did mate, unfortunately got called away to work today so have not had time to edit and upload, should have abit more free time for some more trips too. We had alot of snow yesterday and wanted to get back out, hope we still have some winter conditions for when i return home.
@@residentoutdoors2303 I look forward to watching it mate. I've always enjoyed you videos.
@@shaunwild8797 brilliant. Great to know you enjoy my videos mate, at least i know its still worth taking the time to make them to share. Cheers shaun👍🍻🍻🍻

Thanks 👍👍🍻
Dad mum's on the front screen before u go on the video
Yes i know. Love you olivia 💓
Spot on video, like yourself all my gear is army surplus a lot of it still in good order from when i served back in the 90's so all Dpm. Ive just purchased the dutch hooped bivvi cant wait to get out in it and see how it handles this north scottish weather!!
Can't beat good surplus gear, will last a lifetime especially if looked after. I have had many an adventure out and my gear has never let me down. Just managed to get hold of some new kit too which i am looking forward to testing out soon for a new video. My older brother was in during 90s ,,RDG. Challengers. Younger brother is still in..Lancs. infantry. 👍🍻 Hope you enjoy using the hooped bivi.. you will be used to using the british army gear including the bivi.. i like the fact you can fully close up from the elements if it gets nasty out. 👍👍
Incrível
🙏💫
Plant power 🌱
Thanks. Nice video. I've just Googled the Elvis brew and it's a 6.5 again. Maybe they went back to the old recipe. Love my Dutch Bivi.
I use a Robens Starlight 2 all the time for wild camping, It is a fantastic tent.
Agree, it really is a decent tent. Quick, easy simple set up, works well. 👍🍻
I am surprised you don't have more followers. You deserve it.
Great video. I love your adventures. You go large.. Proper extreme camping.
Cheers I am glad you enjoyed my mini adventure .. loved the snowstorm.. makes things a little more challenging. Not been out for a while so will hopefully be out soon with some new gear I have been testing. 🫡👍
Man. Well that looked a bit dangerous. lol. It looks like the tent held up well though. Thanks for sharing the video, friend.
More exciting , nowt like a good hot cup of tea then tackling a snow storm. 🫡😁
Is there anything you can do about the snow skirts to stop them flapping about and making so much noise ? Before I get one . Cheers
I have seen videos with people who have used rocks to put on the snow skirt, i was contemplating attaching clips to the snow skirt so as i could peg them down to reduce the flapping, either clips or using metal ring clips to create pegging points, usually would be covered with snow.
How waterproof is it
How do find it in the rain
Hi, the tent handles the rain very well, i have used this in heavy rain with strong wind and i had no problem with staying dry, no issues. 👍💯
@residentoutdoors2303 did you seam seal it?
Oh wow my god !! Very cool for me !
Sawadee kap, Yes too cold for me also. I much prefer Thailand weather. ☀️☀️☀️🇹🇭
Hi mate, love the video, can ask what coat that is ? Cheer s
Cheers 😎👍, the jacket i was using was the Rab resolution mate.
Thanks alot for your thought full kind advice reminding us that the great outdoors is the best medicine for those lost souls out there. The way you spoke light relaxed considering ....thanks again ill be sticking around now I'm here ...
Thanks for the comment , its great to know that people can take something from my videos. Being outdoors in an open space with the peaceful quiet and nature can certainly help ones mind and soul, even one night to escape and reset your thoughts can do wonders, for me it helps and wether it may help others in different sutuations or not its certainly worth a try, clear the mind, the peace, time to reflect and possibly come away with even the smallest of positives within yourself is worth it, again thanks for watching and atb. 👍
I just got one “used” on eBay that’s now going on a 5,000 bicycle trip across America next month!!😁🤟🏼
Brilliant, sounds like a crazy mad adventure 😎👍, thats what life is all about, good choice of tent as it it tough and will take a hammering. Enjoy your trip , ATB. 👍
Hi...would you have been confident to use the m90 artic sleeping bag in that situation? Great vid
Hi, i would have had no problem taking the arctic bag but the only issue would have been the extra weight the arctic bag weighs compared to the mountain equipment down bag. 👍🍻
@@residentoutdoors2303 😊👍
Can't beat it 🔥
Good to see you out on a camp mate , nice hike up , looked freezing 🥶, take care mate , atb
Cheers mate, atb also. 👍🍺🍺
What is the tent?
Marmot grid plus 2p. 👍
@@residentoutdoors2303 Thanks!
Hey buddy! Hope you had a nice trip! Although, seeing as I'm the one you asked about the North Face Mountain 25 tent, that tent you just used in this video doesn't seem to compare to the NFM25 that you own. It seemed as if the flapping inside wasn't quite enjoyable and the overall sturdiness seemed questionable. I was looking forward to you reviewing the tent, but it seemed as if that didn't happen. Other than that, I'm glad you took time to get out and live, live, live! We all have had things we've had to deal with (namely a worldwide pandemic), but I'm glad to see that you're back at it and living your life to it's fullest. Besides the pandemic, I've been building up a 3rd gen 4Runner, trying to get it ready for the wilderness. Great 2023 to you bud!
Hi mate, the tent i used was a fly pitch first so the inner hangs, unfortunately this means in high winds it will flap inside, i almost took the nf mountain 25 but decided to test the marmot out instead. I think out of both tents the northface would definately be the tent to take though as it is definately more suitable for the conditions at the moment . Nice to hear your on with new projects yourself ,sounds really interesting so i hope you have good times ahead, I have abit of spare time at the moment so already planning my next trip out, next vid will feature the bomb proof nf25 , All the very best for 2023 and take care mate..👍🍻🍻🍻
Mate did you see those eyes looking at you. 10in 50 sc. By hell mate abit windy 👍🤣. Nice one. Have a good one. You an your lass. Tc Andy
Oh dont be saying that, ill not be out camping again seeing that 😅👍 .. thanks and all the best mate, 🍻🍻🍻

@@stealthandysteath1069 although watching it back im actually wondering myself.
Yes!! So pleased you are back Matt…been missing your videos and was wondering if you had stopped making them. I hope you are keeping well? Looking forward to watching this one later this evening 👍🏻
Hi mate, all good thankyou, just been a hectic 2022, not much time for getting out, hopefully 2023 gives me abit more time for some adventures. Hope your well and all the bery best for 2023 mate, 😁🍻🍻🍻
Nice video
Thankyou olivia. Love you.❤❤
I have found the expression when spoken to me that is very soothing: I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing an important life theme within the context of the magic of hill and mountain walking. Respectfully.
Hi. Thankyou for watching my video, i always find the outdoors helps me clear my mind and soul, especially when times can be tough. Nature can heal that i do know for sure. Again thankyou for watching. Take care. Matt. 😁🙌💫
Hello again just rewatching starlight youtube videos. Really do hope your healing journey is increasingly comfortable. I have been bereaved twice each time it took me 2.0 yr before I could say I was starting to feel normal. Takecare of yourself and thx for posting a terrific hill camp video.
@@justmyopiniontoday7548 hi thanks for the comment, i dont think there is any quick way to get past the losses of loved ones, its a hard journey for sure, only time can heal and as you know can take years, thoughts always with family and friends who are no longer with us. Again thankyou for taking the time to write your comments, appreciate your words, take care also 🙏🙏
What is the location of your campsite? Scotland?
Lake district , cumbria England. A place called Angle Tarn. 👍😎
I have been watching your adventures for about a year now. Wow. I have the North Face v25 tent. Just wondering what kind of pack are you using? I would like to see a video of you packing all your gear. Thanks
Hi, great to know you have been watching my videos, answer to your question for the pack i use is the deuter aircontact 65+10 , this is a solid piece of kit that i have used for many years now. I will look into posting a video of how i pack my gear, also due out for some more camping adventures as i have been so busy this year that i have been unable to get out. Thanks again for watching, all the very best. Matt. 👍👍🍻🍻
I just bought a Mountain 25 to replace my OLD just plain Mountain Tent on which the PU was deteriorating and seam tape was coming off. TNF said they couldn’t fix it and gave me credit. It’s a real beast! I haven’t used it yet, but I think I’ll like it better than the old one. Though I have a Marmot Hammer tent I really want to give a workout this winter. So many plans! Maybe I’ll find out if it’ll handle winds like yours. I’m in the mountains of northwest Maine, there’s one just outside town that’s 1109m and sees 40mph+ winds with wind chills in the -30F and lower range all the time. Great video, there’s nothing like taking whatever nature throws at you.
Hey, thanks for watching my video. Seam tape coming off is easy fix with seam seal.but pu coating is a much harder issue to deal with. The Nf mountain 25 definitely is a beast of a tent. My go to for any extreme weather conditions. Hope you have many great adventures with your new tent. Take care and all the best. 😁👍👍
@@residentoutdoors2303 I’d been told about TNF replacing floors on their tents before, so I figured I’d send the whole thing back and see if they’d retape the fly as well. I kinda wish I hadn’t unthinkingly sent the poles, too. The 20 stakes come in handy for other tents, and I even still have the foam spacers. No use for them with the Mountain 25, though.
Great vid. Love the chatty banter. Just bought a Dutch Army Hooped Bivi. Looking forward to trying it out. 👍
Hi, thanks for watching, hooped bivi is a decent bit of kit and hope you get many great adventures out of yours. 👍👍🍻🍻
Hi, nice video and excellent setup. Thank you.😄 May I ask you to provide more info about the tarp setup you used in this video (name of the gear, rain protection capabilities)?
Hi, i used a british army basha tarp, never leaked on me even with heavy down pours. 👍👍
Hi, Great video 👍 Do you have a link to where you bought the bivi from please?
Just found this video, awesome. My Bivvy arrived this week and tried it out in the garden, struggled for room, but had a thermarest mat and air mat on top so that’s why. I’m going to try just the German mat underneath like yourself and my thermarest thin mat plus sleeping bag and hopefully that will help. Some are putting their rucksack in too, wow 😯 too much surely. So Basha definitely good idea to keep the weather and wind away, brilliant video mate, now following and look forward to watching your other vids 👍🏻😊
Hi, the hooped bivi is a great bit of kit, it is definately low profile so best to use a thin sleeping pad inside, the foam mat you can use underneath to add insulation whilst also protecting the underside of the bivi. I generally always take a basha tarp set up with the bivi, there is room for the bergen/ rucksack at the bottom, but i suppose it all depends on ypur size and how much room you take, also depends on which size of bivi you have also. I hope you enjoy some great adventures out in your hooped bivi, a decent bit of kit that's for sure, Just from experience, if you are using a tarp set up it will afford you the option of allowing you to leave part of the zip down allowing fresh air inside, even when i have used the bivi without a tarp i leave just a few inches of the zip undone to allow some ventilation. With the outer zip flap if it were to rain unless it really chucked it down you should be ok and you wont get much of any rain inside. Thanks for watching. Atb 🙌👍👍
@@residentoutdoors2303 brilliant advice and thanks for your time, I certainly will be taking my tarp alongside too and try that out, sounds best way really. I will either bit my bergan at the bottom or leave it outside under the tarp. Thanks again mate and safe travels all the best 👍🏻🏕
hey, this is going to come a little out of nowhere, but is where any chance you would be willing to sell this tent second hand to me? i have the 2 man version and it was phenomenal, and provided it is in good shape i would be more than happy to pay for this second hand. Ive tried literally everywhere and every second hand shop, but i saw an old review you posted on an amazon page and figured that if i didnt ask i wasn’t going to get an answer. love ur vids btw.
Hi mate, not looking at selling my berghaus quite yet, but if i do decide to sell ill send you a message first np at all.. very hard to get your hands on one of these tents thats for sure, cracking tent too. If i come across one for sale in the meantime i will throw up a link too, 🍻🍻👍👍👍
