McLaren 600 LT Spider 2yr ownership review - good & bad points and comparisons with cars
Two years of ownership and nearly 8000 miles and a few track days discussed.
The good and the bad from warranty claims and cost, track day inspection to the ballistic performance and even Chris Harris rates the 600 LT over the Lamborghini Performante and Ferrari 488 Pista and now the 600 LT is not only the cheapest to buy but also cheaper to run.

Ferrari 488 Pista = 7.6s
McLaren 600 LT Spiders = 8.2s
Ferrari 488 GTB = 8.3s
Ferrari F12 = 8.3s
Lamborghini Huracan STO = 9.0s
Ferrari 458 Speciale = 9.1s
Lamborghini LP750 = 9.5s
Hyundai Ionic 5 N = 9.8s
Audi R8 V10 Plus = 9.9s
Ferrari 458 Italia = 10.4s
Mercedes AMG GTR = 10.9s
Nissan GTR R35 = 11.3s
Ferrari 430 = 11.6s
Kia EV6 GT = 12.9s
Ferrari 360 = 13.9s
Tesla Model 3 Performance = 14.2s
Rolling performance of high horsepower cars is far more revealing of true performance as all the above cars are around 3.5s to 60mph but once speeds go beyond 60mph the difference is greater.
Two year in and the 600 LT is proving to be a joy to own, it is so versatile with it been both a coupe and spider in one, two boots, decent fuel economy, incredible steering feel, good service from the dealerships have overall made the ownership experience a very pleasurable one. Looking forward to travelling Europe next year in the car.

An earlier attempt saw us pretty much even over 10 laps, I was gaining marginally, though I was gaining, but on second attempt with the aid of some traffic and me getting faster finally the R8 chucked on the indicator. In all fairness there was very little in it, where the Porsche excelled was under braking due to ceramics

Phenomenal spec! Going through a purple phase so got mine wrapped. I agree with you about wheels should stand out. My (manual) V8 has V10 wheels and I've seen them in silver and they look beautiful, but with my black and purple theme, thought it would stand out for the wrong reasons. Shoes wont match the dress so to speak. Loving the Oxygen Silver side blades! With almost all R8s the side blades are darker than the body. Silver side blade and wheel combo looks stunning. Wont be for a while yet but next wrap I might actually go for the darker colour body with silver accents.

Absolutely stunning color and car it’s aged brilliantly and prefer it to to the gen 2 which lost all the curves and shapes this one has 👍👌 and the engine revs to 8300 and hated manual fees proper exotic Audi really went all out on this car in 2007👌🔥👍
Yes likewise prefer the gen1 looks wise, truly timeless and also slightly smaller and more feelsome car to drive, for me it is slower but more fun to drive and they are absolute bargains, the gated manual is superb.
@@Gibbo205 agree absolutely bargain specially considering the next gated manual after the r8 is a Ferrari 360 which are well over 55k so yes absolutely bargain and yeh the power in my opinion is absolutely perfect it’s not slow by any means but if you know how to drive a manual and work the engine it’s absolute perfection 420 bhp and that gearbox I’ll have over many many more expensive cars always reccomend a carbon clean as the car feels even more lively as it frees up 40ish bhp minimum 👍
I hoppe prelude cvomes out better than Integra :S. Still think 3rd gen prelude with h22 is mu fav hehe.

As an A110S owner who tracks the car regularly, you’ll likely wear those cup 2’s quickly as the stock suspension can’t work them hard enough. Highly recommend the Lichfield setup using Nitron coil overs. Totally transforms what is already an awesome car and gets the most out of the added grip of the cup 2’s
How are the Nitrons for ride comfort on typical British roads?
@@Gibbo205surprisingly good, I use the car daily and it’s still compliant. My biggest gripe with the stock setup was the harsh ride on UK roads. Admittedly it was too firm for me when I first had them fitted, but Lichfield and Nitron were amazing about it - they changed the valving and the spring rates for me and I’m really happy with it now. It’s a weapon on track, turns in so much better and feels so balanced and stable at speed

Yeah car was quick, for next time I will remember to always be using 5th in Craners as kept hitting limiter in 4th. Car can do about 120mph down there I reckon just need to take bravery pill. :)
@@Gibbo205 I always watch the video back and think “yeah, I should be able to keep my foot in more there”, and then you actually get back on track and it feels very different 😂
@@PNDale because you know when your doing it in person if it goes wrong at those speeds, its going to hurt really both financially and physically, my self preservation and mechanically sympathy kicks in,.

I made the leap from an 2018 M2 to an A110S, via a couple of Abarths. The M2 sound track was fantastic and a great all round car, but the moment leave the dealership you 'get' the Alpine. Lightness and handling are fantastic

Why would you call it a baby Mclaren?
Its a great car but the only thing remotely Mclaren about it is the low weight.
Low weight like a McLaren, mid-engine like one, two seater like one, turbocharge engine like one and a very similar handling dynamic, I also own a McLaren. :)

@@M5V10-h4oI speak from owning this and a 600 LT and the Alpine handles in a similar fashion and is surprisingly very good, of course the McLaren is better but it should be as it was 277k new….

Congratulations! Gorgeous car! I bought a standard A110 in fire orange from Robert back in Jan and it’s been great. You won’t regret it! Plus the aftersales service is terrific. Happy motoring !
Lovely example, I saw a vlog of it being detailed which was clearly for this handover. I'm looking at a similarly coloured 110S but without the aero kit. As an ex-M2C owner as well I can imagine how much you are enjoying the handling benefits of this lightweight car.
Thank you, yes the preparation by Robert at Alpine London was superb, he had it serviced and the fuel pump recall done as well, fantastic service. Yes over the M2 the ride is so much better and the handling dynamic is really on another level, really happy with the car. It drives like a baby supercar really!
From the side it looks nice, but those spots on the front look like nostrils... Also, when you say Alpine, I think the A610, which was cooler than this, IMHO....
That is because this is same manufacturer, Alpine are a historic brand who rarely make car and the A110 is the original A110 in a modern design but whilst keeping the main design traits presents, hence the 4 main headlights, which I personally disliked in pictures but in person it is cool and for sure a unique design, almost looks alien, great for night driving too, I do like the looks but considering how great it drives I'd not be too fussed it if was an ugly duckling. :)
@@Gibbo205 Given I'm rolling around in an 06 Astra I'd deffo pick the 110, regardless of how ugly it looks, handling is important though for swerving around all the pot holes on the way to work...
