ABOUT ME:
I began learning how to draw in February, 2019. I was inspired by Into the Spider-Verse and told myself, "I want to be able to make something like that one day". SO I decided to pick up a pencil and start learning.
I've spent every day since scouring the internet for the best tutorials and lessons to help teach me how to be an artist.
But I don't have all day - I want to figure this out! I've structured my practice and learning in a way that has gotten me to figure out the fundamentals in 2 years - and I hope to have even less until working professionally.
Because of this, I sought out to make myself a curriculum that would train me effectively.
I called it "The Curriculum for the Solo Artist". It got popular on Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/learnart/comments/dapk62/from_the_guy_who_made_the_most_comprehensive_list/
Proko even talked about it on the Drafstmen podcast (time-stamped)!
th-cam.com/video/od1xbX2ESP8/w-d-xo.html
Since then, I've been working hard to improve. I take pride in learning, helping others, and pursuing creativity.
If you want to talk more with me, I'm on Discord all of the time.

How to Draw Perspective, and Why It's Useful! - For Beginners and Intermediate
On the verge of stabbing myself in the head with the pencil because no, I canNOT see proportions or the shapes of gestures.
My mentor said that the elipce get more cricularthe future it gets from the viewer. Is he wrong?
watching this video was something i never knew i needed til now
Thank you for your works and detailed explanation!!! You deserve much more!❤❤❤
Question: how the f do I apply this tutotial to traditional drawing?
Awesome video! Thank you for sharing
Where was this channel all is this time!?! Thanks so much for these videos and please do keep sharing ❤
Got recommended this video to help me struggling with drawing from reference, it didn't disappoint. ALSO WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR REFERENCES?? THEY'RE SO GOOD!!!
❤ amazing, thanks i love heard about how to choose colors.
Hell yeah, most of the perspective videos explain 1 point, 2 point and 3 point, but don't talk about the usecases for them. This was really informative, thank you Alex!
Jello is translucent yet not, and will have more of a wet like highlight and shade
I find the first half super easy, where if I draw the bounding boxes, then I can translate that to the page and fill in from there. But when I try and imagine the shapes and draw them, then compare after, I get it so wrong. I really don't know how to improve.
Great video, but had to install an addon to increase the volume since it's soooooooo low
Excellent video. Very thorough explanation. Anything about shading these forms?
When I try to paint textures it never really comes out like... well the texture I wanted to paint, it mostly looks like a flat colour with a few texture brushes over it. I get it where the lighting comes from it's lighter and the other shadow side is darker, reflected light etc. i get that, but when I try to apply all these things it still looks... ununified. You can recognise the thing but it never looks right, my textures just all look like dirt on the surface. I use the standard krita brushes but I should be able to create anything with that.
How will Loomis ever recover?!
This video is actually so great man
First time I'm watching a tutorial video of Alex and I'm sure he knows what his talking about but this is the first time I'm struggling to understand what someone is trying to explain. Unfortunately I didn't get it. Only understood the first part of the video.
Where is the vanishing point supposed to be for the first diagram? How am I supposed to mirror a projection? Like, I know how to draw a cube in 1, 2, and3 point perspective, yet it feels like I'm missing 19 other pieces of the puzzle going in to this video
I don't know man, you lost me immediately. I learned how to draw boxes in 1 2 and 3 point perspective, I play around drawing boxes a lot, I get the basics, yet the moment after you said you assume I know how to draw a basic box in perspective (I do), it's like you started speaking a foreign language. "Here, is a box" yet I see 4 squares, and then there are over twelve shapes on screen in an instance, and I don't know where the "here" I'm supposed to focusing on is even supposed to be
As an intermediate artist who’s begun to plateau in terms of progress I found this video very helpful when returning to the drawing basics!! The ambiance was also quite relaxing 👌
This is brilliant. Educational and lots of value.
Thank you!
The playlist for Lesson 8 has a private video? What was the topic for that missing video and is it necessary?
this just overcomplicates things and mostly makes sense for those that already know how this stuff works.

❤🔥
Thank you for the succinct valuable tutorial. And you went so far after starting in Feb 2019! May the rich and powerful invest in your sketches and paintings ...
wow, looks great! I loved the structure of the course
Great video, thank you so much. Unfortunately, the links don't work.
I was just trying to draw a cat for the first time and it was a mess then I come on here just to see this guy draw 3 lines in .2 sec and it turned out super good I love it, and now im upset hahahaha
"you can get to this point in like a year, year and a half" me: sweating profusely
Thank you for recording this !!
That's genius! I'm going to try this, thank you, I love it
Very useful, thank you :) been trying to look into asaro. Loomis definitely feels easier, but your exampl of Asaro being a sort of level up made it make sense. Like moving up a grade in school. I felt like I wasn’t ready to give upon the Loomis method, but Asaro was intriguing, so your idea to combine them until I’m used to seeing where shadows goes seems like a great idea. Thanks again :)
hey man just found out your channel. lots of gem here. as an aspiring aritst. this is really helpful. thanks alot for sharing this informations
A good tip from Mark Vandruff. When you draw a cylinder. The minor axis of that cylinder, is major axis of the elipse (side plane/end). Take the centre point of the cylinder end (put a cross on the box to find the centre), extend that to the vanishing point (same direction as the cylinder). This gives you the major axis of a cylinder. Then you just make sure that the other axis is 90' perpendicular to that. This gives you the minor. Then ensure the circle hits each side of the square bounding box and the peaks of that circle are falling onto the major/minor axis, and it will look like a correctly distorted circle in space.
I've been feeling incredibly stupid trying to learn this, being very down on myself. Watching this made something click. Thank you so much!
Starting at 1:29 he completely lost me. I understand how to draw cubes in 1 2 and 3 point perspective yet the second he says "here" he just unloads a ton of info without even saying what I should focus on. Can you try and paraphrase that first bit? I'm literally desperate at this point
❤❤❤❤
Thank you.
Gosh! Cool perspective! I’m old…sure wish you could go a little slower.
Just discovered your channel, you have a lot of great informations. Can't wait to be able to improve thanks to your content. Keep up the good work ! sorry for same comment... a am also agreeing with him.... alex you helped me a lot ,,, thanks for your precious informations. ❤❤❤
very informative video
The REAL question is... How to get better heads?
Wild youre the only video that shows up on the front page isnt about human proportions
Thanks bro the stuff you are teaching is great 🤟
I like to use GoldenEye N64 for my low poly head references. With DK Mode ON!
thank you for the video mate, really helped me to understand something i couldn't even think about, but i'm struggling with to draw people when they wear clothes or need to draw pose in perspective, torso is nice but legs can be bigger or smaller, wider or thinner, same with legs.
You completely missed the point of drawabox. He said multiple times drawabox is not going to teach your perspective. He's teaching pre-persective skills. It's not to learn perspective it's about developing the hand eye coordination to be able to construct 3d shapes in 2d. If I can't physically draw a box that looks right-ish them learning perspective isn't going to do me any good. That's what the 250 box challenge is about. Developing the motor skills needed to be able to effectively start studying perspective.
Thanks for sharing!
