i used stainless worm clamps or oetiker stainless crimp clamps depends if i need to remove something often or not for example for removing the carbs for rejetting etc etc. your Zip ties looks awesome and i am sure the work perfect as you use them all the time. you use them for waterlines also ? you use same lines right ?
Thanks for watching, and the comments. I do not like worm gear clamps on fuel lines, as the lines are small, and the worm gear clamps can dig into the hose. We do use worm gear on larger cooling lines.
I did not know there were differences, thanks John!
Braaaaaaapppppp
had a buddy with a stock 650sx with that early non diverted manifold. Kept blowing head gaskets, swore up and down he had a bad motor or something was warped. So we swapped his motor out for another stock 650 with a diverted manifold. I took his motor we pulled out and stuck a diverted manifold, has been a good motor since. All of my standups have diverted manifolds now... Just my 2 cents.
Thanks for watching. The early red head 650's were known for blowing head gaskets.
Very informative. Did not know there were differences. Cant wait for your next video!
Thanks for watching Chris.
Hi there John, I have a 1994 Yamaha Waveblaster with a ported 701 61X/62T, bored 1mm over, DASA girdled head running 175 psi domes, Boysen Reeds, dual 38’s, R&D flame arrestor, Coffman pipe, Factory Pipe Waterbox, and MSD Enhancer and coil. I’m currently running the stock impeller and I want better acceleration and top speed. I weigh 190 pounds and usually ride lakes 1600 feet above sea level. The ski doesn’t cavitate, but I feel it can accelerate much harder and have a higher top speed. I was looking at a Solas YQ-CD-13/19, hoping that it will do what I want, since the stock impeller is 15/18, and I’m only getting 47 MPH, when I really want to be getting at least in the 50’s. With all the mods done to the engine, I would expect more then just like 2 mph faster then a stock 61X/62T. Based on the info I provided, would a 13/19 be a good choice for my application?
Thanks for watching, and thanks for the questions.... Please reach out to me at my shop for recommendations.
One of my favorite riders
I up your game of bars forward by using straight fat bars. I use a thin KTM motorcycle bar clamp that has a flat side. You drill out two more holes on the plate to accommodate the fat bar clamp holes and you are good to go.
Nice, how did the hip replacement go. You feeling better and pain free now?
I feel great now!!! Thanks for asking
@jetgirl777
Thanks for saving her John. Keep up the awesome content!
Thanks for watching
I second your opinion on restorations, esp racing vehicles. In 1991 would she have been able to run the 650 engine?
Love that you are doing this. I have one that was used for racing, it is an x2 that I was going to restore, but ended up using as a lawn ornament..
Very helpful
Awesome vid John. I’m glad it made it back to where it was supposed to. Shame we couldn’t have grabbed it before it seen sandpaper, but…it still survived.
Yes. Thank you again SO much Ken for being a good caretaker of this ski.
so had the biggest crush on her though out the 90s lol. Totally stoked you got it.
Thank you for watching
That’s amazing. The mods they used to do to the old 440s and 550s to strengthen them up blows me away. You can see how the sun fades anything red/pink and yellow - horrible colours to paint - yet the blue still looks pristine. Thanks for sharing this. I remember Victor’s Butch skis being a different colour combo. This is great to see.
Thanks for watching
Wicked cool! I believe Christy lives about an hour south of me in Birmingham, Alabama. Gotta love these iconic race skis from the golden era. Thanks for sharing with us!!

Is there anyway I can post a photo in this reply section?
@ there is a guy that rents boats and watercraft Tequesta Florida that has an old 400 or 440 or 550 that has been his mailbox in front of the building for years and years. It’s the coolest thing.

Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for the info!
Killer ski!
Thanks for watching
I checked mine. One looked like it had some arcing but cleaned up. It's a 94 kawasaki 750. It turns over but doesn't start till I let off the start button. Ever heard of that?
I have seen this. In my experience it has been a bad stator
What do i need to install the handle bar ?
Thank you for watching. If you are interested in a RRP Handle pole, or steer system/bars, we'd be happy to help out. Please reach out to us at our shop. All of my contact info can be found at my Watcon web site.
Thank you for this video. I need to do a test on my ski and needed the information you provided in this video. Thanks

Hi I put one of your hod seals on my 90 super jet, built up with epoxy the ears that sagged (front by the neck support) but now my latch is super loose, with the oem hood seal it never rattled even 30 years old. Any tips?
Thanks for the note. I have replied to your email
Thanks for the excellent info, I have an XLT 1200 PV, I installed Stinger and Power Valve Riva with Hi Flow filters, what do you recommend for tuning in pop off and jet size? The high one is 135, the low one does not say it. Thanks!!!!
Please reach out to us at the shop. You can send an email through the web site. Thank you
great videos im learning more everyday !
Thank you for watching
hi john can u explain how to increase to bottom end as much as we can for freestyle applications for superjets 94-2020
Thank you for watching, and for the question. In sort your ENGINE makes power.... You can increase power from doing mods. Aftermarket pipe, porting, carbs, compression, ignition, etc. Your impeller and pump set up need to MATCH your power output for maximum output. Please reach out to us at the shop if you want help with your set up.
Pretty cool John, thanks for sharing

How donu remove the rubber mount under the engine. Do u have to replace case bolts for it? Thanks
No need to change the bolts. Just remove the mount, and put the bolts back in.
Won't they be too long without the rubber there? Maybe I'm missing something. Also mine are rusted really bad for some reason.
@@Northwestvision No they are not too long. The bolts are a shoulder bolt. You will understand when you install them......
Great info, I really like the yamaha fuel line
Thank you for watching
Definitely need to get me some of those rounded zipties. Thanks John

Great video thanks going to order the blue lines from you

Sounds like it's been stored for a long time. The seals & gasket have shrunken. Or it's like what's goes on behind my back with these networks of murdering mob Pro D's🕵️ that are working throughout my area.. Watching what you do. Then come along behind you & tampering with it... This has cost me so much hardship & financial strain... 🇦🇺
Always appreciate the vids man. Thanks!
Thank you!

Great video I don’t mind if you take your time also can you take the lanyard spring out and stretch it a bit is that advisable thanks
Thanks for watching
Great video, during the summer I picked up my first stand up it’s a 93 SN which during the winter I plan on cleaning it up. The rear of it seems pretty heavy and I believe it most likely water logged. Do you think it’s worth refoaming or should I just keep riding it as it is. I’ve been reading a lot mixed opinions on this. Thanks for any feedback
Thanks for watching. Welcome to the addiction! A wet heavy ski will definitely ride, and perform different than a lite, dry one. It is a big job to re-foam. Weather or not it is worth it would have to be up to you, and your mechanical ability......
I really dig all the build breakdown videos. Please keep em coming
