On my Superjet i would hit a wave and the engine would die. I replceced the switch assembly and it solved the problem, what is the failure in my switch that would have caused it? Never knew you could take them apart to clean them Thanks...
Hi John, probably got the video I was looking for, but it gives me pretty much a breakdown on how a Sea-Doo would work as well… But I am confused by design of the Sea-Doo … with the plug that’s supposed to wrap around the Killswitch. I have no idea how that can conceivably work… If you could explain that to me cause it does not work on my Sea-Doo … think I’m going to change it to something more 2024
@ thank you for getting back to me was able to find a work around on the Killswitch and key… I now have the ski running though when adding water during the flush obviously the RPMs go down, but it will not stay idling I always have to keep a little bit of gas on the throttle or it will die..93 GTS.. throttle response is pretty good. There’s a slight very slight bog but seems to power through it. Is it worth rebuilding the carb or is it better just to buy a new carburetor?
I checked mine. One looked like it had some arcing but cleaned up. It's a 94 kawasaki 750. It turns over but doesn't start till I let off the start button. Ever heard of that?
Knock on wood -- I've never hard start/stop switch issues, and all my old Kawasakis ('95 750sxi, '87 650sx) are still on their original switches that have likely never been opened. So in essence, I'm well overdue for a switch issue.
This is great . Really appreciate you doing videos like this! Your knowledge is invaluable in keeping these old units running
Thank you
Awesome advice and good idea on leaving the lanyard on. Especially in those cold northern states
I actually was able to recreate the Kawasaki rubber by 3d printing it with flexible filament and its been working great!
This is a great tech tip! I will admit I once overlooked a stuck Yamaha lanyard switch, and replaced a stator.🤦 I now store with with lanyards on.
Thank you for watching
Thanks you! Fixed my problem jusy taking it apart anf putting it back together.
Thanks for watching!!
Oddly enough, I’ve only ever had an issue with a Yamaha switch.
Thanks for the video and I wish I saw this before I had to replace the switch.
Thank you for watching.
Awesome video thanks
Thanks for watching
Great video!!!
Thank you for watching.
Great video I don’t mind if you take your time also can you take the lanyard spring out and stretch it a bit is that advisable thanks
Thanks for watching
Thank you! Good to know how to put it back together when it explodes after taking it apart :D

Thanks for watching. Hard for me to know what problem you had. Maybe a bad / pinched wire in the harness...
Thank you John
Thank you
John - can you share where you can get replacement rubber switch covers for a Kawi from?
Sorry, I do not have a source for new. We hoard old switches here to use for parts to service skis here in the shop.

Seadoo Start switches are sealed and not serviceable.

@ and I have one other question on bypassing the oiling system, I understand it is only a portion of it can be bypassed..
@@johnferris8655 Correct. You must retain the oil bath for the RV Shaft.

I have seen this. In my experience it has been a bad stator
Would the switch prevent a spark? And still allow it to turnover ?
It can, yes

Thanks John. Interesting!
