So me being the owner of that grenade i can honestly say that the ski ran great, let my daughter go for a ride and had to tow her in. I cannot thank John enough for everything he has done and the advice given after this little event. After getting a motor off of Facebook and sending it back, we finally have a good used motor to put in the ski. It’s been quite the adventure lol

My superjet bendix does this. Every other time, it might just spin and not engage. Now I'm worried! Thanks for posting this.

This happen to me over the summer. I guess I got lucky because the chunk stuck to the pickup and killed spark before the rest of my motor. John got me going and also gave me advise that helped to get my ski ripping!! My 750 and I appreciate the help! ✊💨💨💨

I've rebuilt rusty/seized ones. Way too many convoluted parts in a bendix!

Im pretty sure this just happened to my x2 also the motor wouldnt rev past 50% throttle and batteries not charging so im assuming the stator is dead.

Hey John, my raider starts and runs great. thank you. I have heard my bendix zing just a couple times this past season. Maybe 20 times out. I’m thinking it was from half ass pressing the button. How often is too often? Love the videos and speedy recovery on the surgery later this month.
    Joe and Diane.

In my experience here, EVERY time a drive "zings" and does not engage it is from rust/corrosion and is the beginning of the end. Take it as a warning sign, Get it changed out sooner than later!!!

Oh goodness that is a horrible chain of events.
Other than being a wear part any maintenance that should be done on a Bendix?

No really much maintenance. Keep them clean and dry. Moisture is the enemy.

Get any water out of the hull after you ride and leave the seat off to dry out the engine bay. You can remove the stator inspection cap and do a few shots of WD-40. If you remove the stator cover at any point make sure the rubber oring is in place and is in good condition. Also make sure the spring and washer don't get lost when you have the cover off. If you ride in saltwater you need to do a proper flush and rinse to get rid of any salt or minerals.

So if the OE ones still pack up..has anyone made a good one.. the cheaper ones come with two year warranty unlike the kawi ones.. any insight on who does the best aftermarket one? Thanks

ALL Aftermarket on es are junk!! OE is the only way. They do not last forever.
