ik im late but you got any advice for early game? Im doing the quest with darak right now and im like lvl 8 all the gear i get requires lvl 11 and my weapons deal super low damage even tho i didnt skip anything so what do you think i can do to actually like level up and deal good damage early on

What was the best faith weapon (and faith combination) that did u found? I couldn't find any decent only faith weapon, only strength-faith comb or dex-faith. Climbers pick was very good. Maces were baaad.

Claws of night are also smith script. Which is just outright the best weapon in this category. So Realistically the best smith script build would be a Dex build due to the claws of night alone but also edges a bit in both the dagger and cirque. You miss out on a lot of scaling for the hammer which is entirely worth it. The axe and spear would be best one handed and paired with something so it would be about the same either way. The shield would still be great but they nerfed it in pvp however yeah it scales much better on str but still decent as a cheap poke. Also not a smith script but the lizard great sword is a projectile weapon that scales best with dex (even two handed) and is a great hyper armor option that has the best range in it’s class and the ability to trigger status build up twice with it’s heavy attack. Edit: someone noted this but messmer’s spear is also a smith script and a Dex/faith exclusive and it’s decent-ish xD

To be fair to the Repeating Crossbow, while it may not be as effective at applying status effects, sometimes there's nothing scarier or more satisfying than that extremely rapid staccato of metallic twangs.

Mesmers spear actually counts as a smithscript weapon too just an FYI. The talisman for smithscript works for it too

Storm AOW are better on Dex as it scales higher.

This ash is one of the best range punishes in PvP as well

You keep saying "two hand it" when you could just...equip it on your right hand and swap to and from your sword? I mean, is that not the obvious solution, you're not using your sword within a second of using any of these weapons unless you're going for the good-old 'three sleep arrows followed by a Giant Crusher' thing. Yes, needing to switch to a different weapon is a con but acting like you didn't realize you could just use projectile weapons with your main hand to save like a second of fiddling with the two-hand controls is High-Key Embarrassing.

Perhaps crazy take here but i feel like with this DLC and the sheer aggression of the bosses i am dodging 95% of the time and hitting 2% of the time.. and while it's fun to be a good defensive player there is a limit. Older souls games had difficulty for other reasons besides the boss simply never running out of stamina..

Finally had this drop, thanks for the tips looking forward to doing some runs with it!

Additional bummer on the spear (i secretly like it tho), is that jumping heavies do not throw it unlike the axe or the cirque. Could be cinematic, even tho damage isnt there

I normally run a horned warrior’s greatsword in my main hand with a beast man’s cleaver in my offhand with the storm blade ash of war, I use jump attacks as my primary pve damage source

Nah i personnaly think its worst final fight from software ever designed, even worse than elden beast the second phase just bombards you with visual effects, he is absolutely nowhere near ishin

I get tired of the misconception that beatable = fine. Any cheeseburger can beat it. I've defeated him 5-6 times now. Doesn't make the fight fun, interesting, or intuitive. I can and will beat it several more times, but I don't enjoy it, and I never will.

I use the pulley crossbow pretty often especially during fights like consort radahn or Malenia between combos they walk slow sometimes & I use that opportunity to fire a few rot or bleed bolts at them to get status effect build up. I love the triple fire sound and reload click also lol.

Out of all the weapons in the DLC this was the one o chose.
