This was my favorite fight of the DLC, idk why there are so many haters lol. The one legitimate complaint I can understand are the performance issues in phase 2; everytime Miquella nuked me with light lasers my GPU was smoking But yeah, around an hour and a half of attempts overall. Super fun, not as bad as everyone made it seem tbh.
Its overtuned. The guy basically spams 17 attacks in one go, its really unfun to play against Malenia was this aggressive but she was also super staggerable and didnt have as much health. This boss fight wasnt so much hard as it was unfun it also encouraged a deflect playstyle, which most hardcore ring players arent used to at all
@@RysenKai Ah good point, yeah you have that moment in the beginning and right after the light bomb to devour one, will try it again sometime (...Elden Ring boss rush mode when?!?)
Thank you! Yeah I'm going to make an updated Greatsword of Solitude build video, but there's likely some PvP content on the way tbh. I'm also leveling a Faith character so maybe some experimenting around that too
It's VERY possible with this build, you are probably favored if you understand the Deflecting Hardtear lol, such a satisfying fight. Don't give up, skeleton!
The deflect tear makes this fight twice as fun. If you don't have this tear and the only way you have to punish his combos is with a light attack, then the fight becomes kind of a slog due to the enormous ammount of health the boss has, which is at least part of the reason for the dislike people seem to have for it. His phase 2 works a lot like Malenia in the sense that he has a bunch of attacks that you have to run from to avoid rather than dodge and a bunch of people don't realize that running is an option, so they just eat the lightspeed clone stuff and the meteors and call the boss badly designed. I beat him in my first playthrough with a build made specifically to empower guard counters, the deflect tear and a milady. It was a lot of fun. I cannot see myself beating him with a build that only has light attacks as an option though.
YES, the build I ran also ran Deflecting Hardtear (obviously) with some guard counter boosts with the Curved Sword Talisman and the Stonebarb Cracked Tear. Super satisfying way to play tbh, and agreed; a lot of people don't realize you can just sprint many attacks if you start running early enough lol. There aren't a LOT of opportunities for heavy attacks, but there are definitely some if you avoid/wait til the end of some of his bigger combos, especially in phase 2 (but yeah they are hard to take advantage of)

Consort Radahn & Miquella: "This is it! our final move. *Lightspeed Meteor Strike!* "
GS of Solitude enjoyers: "I'm gonna block it"
bro(s) still almost blasted me from full LOL, but blocking a portion of it definitely saved me. It was only the second time I had seen that attack!
@@lexdtv If you go for this fight again, pop a Holyproof Dried Liver. Then laugh through all of phase two.

Great job, very clean! This series has been so fun I've really enjoyed following along. (and stealing ideas haha)... Subbed, hope to see more.

@@jameslee310 HELL yes, well played man
Awesome man!!! Just found this. I Didnt get to see it live unfortunately. You inspired me to put hours into this boss to defeat him with this weapon.
It's definitely possible brother, use that Deflecting Hardtear and mixup those blocks and rolls!
