Personally i find stormcaller to be better in duels than horn calling storm, simply because one can use it in weapons like the claymore and the crescent mon axe, both of wich have their respective r2 as a roll catch after the first part of storm caller.

I am 90% sure the wind parts won't help with status buildup since the "storm damage" from Storm Blade also doesn't apply status effects, but I haven't actually tested so there's a chance I'm wrong. And yo LOL it's hilarious to me that the guy in these storm ash arts is wearing underwear in some, and then just letting his ass hang out in others
I normally run a horned warrior’s greatsword in my main hand with a beast man’s cleaver in my offhand with the storm blade ash of war, I use jump attacks as my primary pve damage source

thanks man, and yeah I mean, any Curved Greatsword or Greatsword that you can give Heavy affinity for decent Strength scaling will work, and even the Great Katana is not a bad option even though it only has a B for STR scaling. Those are some off the top of my head I'd throw out there, I think maybe Beastman's Cleaver is a STR scaling curved greatsword but you'd have to farm for it.
I did! For some reason it was barely hitting harder than the Freyja's Greatsword version, but I might play around with it a little more. The Great Katana moveset is definitely insane, I love it
@@lexdtv it doesn’t really hit harder, but you do get that innate bleed buildup - and the ash of war scales off of dex so I think the aow itself hits a bit harder from keen infinity. If you’re going to use it up close I’d say go blood or occult affinity as well. If status effects travel with storm blade it would be a broken tier ash of war.

Ahh these are all good questions, I'll have to try them out and see what it looks like, but again my hesitation lies in forking so many points over to DEX on a RL150 build
seeing as you mentioned you get stormblade at the start at the hut I was wondering if you could do a new game run with a high damage weapon like the 2h you get from the wagon at gatefront and how that could carry you through leveling a new char.
You absolutely could, though I think Storm Blade may be tied to your stats + weapon level so though you're not going to be 1-2 shotting mobs, you'll definitely still get a huge advantage imo (will also save you a lot of time lol)
@@lexdtv I been playing with a new build all day and I can say the Lordsworn Greatsword you get at the start in the wagon with ash of war is by far the easiest playt hrough I have had. I also went and got myself built up a bit though, went and collected 11 seeds with +7 crimson tears and also got the Great Stars great hammer for a very nice bleed + strike weapon as a secondary fighting anything that is weak to that but yeah, your built is amazing for how easy it is to level up let alone a new game + Tks for informing us of this build.
I was looking for a invasion build...I was getting overwhelmed with multiple enemies...I adjusted my build by taking ideas from this video...I like my claymore but it seems either the weapon is not good enough or I am not good enough for using it in invasions....Can't catch anyone who is running.. Also do you or anyone know if raptor talons r2 still true combos?
Not sure about the Raptor Talons, but Claymore should be a decent choice; definitely try a Curved Greatsword or something that may hit a little harder with Storm Blade if not. Sometimes the projectile is gonna have a tough time hitting your targets if the latency is high, and really it's best to catch someone BY SURPRISE with it when they're going for a drink if you're able.

Quality infused storm ashes hit the hardest with the 60/60 build, so the storm damage just scaled with the stats directly (or else the strength most from 2 handing would have made it hit the same). Ultimately though, it just wasn't worth all the stat points forked over to DEX, especially for a Rune Level 150 build.
Lol I'm wearing the Divine Beast "Helm," not the Divine Beast "Head" that you get from the boss. This one just naturally looks smaller (and better imo)
Since I was focusing on boosting Storm Ashes, I'd probably throw them into DEX tbh and try optimizing again from there. Quality seemed to boost Storm damage the most, even if it was just a small amount!

Liked the video and drooped a sub however major correction: Effective str from two handing doesn’t work like that. It doesn’t affect skills or AoWs (it doesn’t affect critics strikes either). On top of this it is mathematically impossible for the dex build to get less of a gain from either quality or str. Dexterity will ALWAYS scale higher than both for storm or quality AoWs. Maybe something was up with your testing but that was objectively wrong information. >.< Maybe you were using inconsistent weapons that could have altered the results, I’m curious on your testing method, The reason for this is normally quality includes a co-efficient of 1.9 for both dex/Str, str normally has a co-efficient of 2.8 for str along, on a weak set up it 2.4 but has a Dex scaling of 1.2, on a dex set up it has a dex co-efficient of 2.8 and a str co-efficient of 1.3. On a dex-weak it will be the same as str w/ a 2.4 Dex coefficient , 1.2 str coefficient which only occurs on a few viable weapons such as the nagakiba, daggers, flamberge, :/ Mathematically your dex should be around 5-10% higher in overall scaling for any quality bullet AoW Storm assault will always either scale best on a lightning weapon or the GSS which has a comically high AR for no reason. Also going dex gives you better use of the Storm arrows
So yeah I'm not saying Strength scaled better than either Quality or DEX for storm damage, it actually scaled the worst. Point being, it was such a tiny difference in storm damage, and you get way higher PHYSICAL AR for a wayyyyy lower stat requirement with STR. I wasn't implying the two handing from Strength applied to storm damage, just smacking things with your weapon. 80 DEX just did not scale PURE storm damage better than 60 STR/60 DEX, and I even tried the lightning infusion as suggested but the split damage killed its seemingly impressive AR. It also did not make pure storm damage hit any harder; it was the same between Keen and Lightning, the different affinities just affected AR. I tested with A scaling DEX weapons for Keen and Lightning, and A scaling STR weapons for heavy. This was all using the Storm Blade projectile.

@@thesquishogods8015 this is all pretty good info but I think you're getting stuck in the weeds about pumping the damage numbers too narrowly. This is a rune level 150 build, and the most "bang for your buck" per-stat-point for physical AR is just gonna be Strength when two-handed, no questions about it. the 60/60 build was just to test numbers for fun, but tbh at Rune Level 150 you don't have many levels to throw around at all if spec'd like that so it's just not viable. For the hero starting class, you'd have to toss 89 levels into STR + DEX to meet either 60/60 or 40/80 (even considering the Divine Beast Helm's +3 to both). This leaves 54 levels to distribute among Vigor, Endurance, Mind, Faith, etc. Lightning affinity just ain't it; can't apply greases, and sure you can test it on things with zero lightning resistance like you said but on average your targets are most likely going to be reducing it alongside their physical damage reduction, and it's just not gonna hit that hard. Rather than split the damage so harshly, just apply lightning grease imo. Also Horned Warrior's Greatsword is part of this arsenal and scales purely with Strength so there's that to consider :P
@@lexdtv I’m a optimizer who runs between levels 125-200 for pvp with 5 dedicated characters for all of those xD bang for buck is still keen for storm blade and storm assault , especially when considering the introduction of the lizard GS and the guardian sword spear exists. Lizard GS’s and Dismounter’s reach is too good to pass on >.< For the level 150 yeah still keen, at 54 str you are only hitting the soft cap for regular attacks, none of the storm skills will be near soft cap. Still need 80 str lightning grease doesn’t scale on motion values from crits or AoWs the same way, lightning WILL outcompete, also powerstance builds/off hand (you can also use sacred order and lightning slash on lightning) A weapon strike AoW usually scales better on lightning unless it is a super strong keen or heavy weapon like the guardian sword spear or sword lance (note Freyja’s will still do more damage on lightning affinity if using lion’s claw) Also test it with high defense but low percentage negation like the omens in the sewers. Because that is how you determine how defense affects it. There are two defense types. The damage difference is normally 10% which is significant enough for me to care. Best part of the build is still storm blade, use that on keen or heavy not lightning However when it comes to the storm incantation and the Horned warrior’s great sword, yeah go strength however I definitely won’t call it the best part of your kit even on a str build. Often for a dex build normally a 70/20 or a 80/18 split is normal, though you can get way with only 14 points into str. Str you have to often risk dropping int/fth/arc while still needing like 14-20 dex for weapons variety,

It does work like that 34 str and 50 dex, 54 str and 50 dex, or 66 str and 80 dex

For the hero starting class, you'd have to toss 89 levels into STR + DEX to meet either 60/60 or 40/80 (even considering the Divine Beast Helm's +3 to both). This leaves 54 levels to distribute among Vigor, Endurance, Mind, Faith, etc.
Lightning affinity just ain't it; can't apply greases, and sure you can test it on things with zero lightning resistance like you said but on average your targets are most likely going to be reducing it alongside their physical damage reduction, and it's just not gonna hit that hard. Rather than split the damage so harshly, just apply lightning grease imo.
Also Horned Warrior's Greatsword is part of this arsenal and scales purely with Strength so there's that to consider :P

bang for buck is still keen for storm blade and storm assault , especially when considering the introduction of the lizard GS and the guardian sword spear exists. Lizard GS’s and Dismounter’s reach is too good to pass on >.<
For the level 150 yeah still keen, at 54 str you are only hitting the soft cap for regular attacks, none of the storm skills will be near soft cap. Still need 80 str
lightning grease doesn’t scale on motion values from crits or AoWs the same way, lightning WILL outcompete, also powerstance builds/off hand (you can also use sacred order and lightning slash on lightning)
A weapon strike AoW usually scales better on lightning unless it is a super strong keen or heavy weapon like the guardian sword spear or sword lance (note Freyja’s will still do more damage on lightning affinity if using lion’s claw)
Also test it with high defense but low percentage negation like the omens in the sewers. Because that is how you determine how defense affects it. There are two defense types. The damage difference is normally 10% which is significant enough for me to care.
Best part of the build is still storm blade, use that on keen or heavy not lightning
However when it comes to the storm incantation and the Horned warrior’s great sword, yeah go strength however I definitely won’t call it the best part of your kit even on a str build.
Often for a dex build normally a 70/20 or a 80/18 split is normal, though you can get way with only 14 points into str.
Str you have to often risk dropping int/fth/arc while still needing like 14-20 dex for weapons variety,
Storm assault is soooo broken lol what you mean ? You just can’t use it ti trade w big weapons. Small weapons its checkmate
Ey listen I agree, it's super strong in 1v1 situations for sure, but I just had better luck with some of the other storm ashes when it came to invasions specifically

Why tf RL150?
I dont think ive seen a pvp youtube video not at RL150. It lets you get 60 vigor and 60 in a main stat, or mixed however depending on the build
