      Unfortunately not! Oregon state law requires it to be mounted on the front of the vehicle, unobscured! Because the car is not a classic car it requires the front license plate.

      True! But the state of Oregon won't allow a classic registration unless the car is 30 years old. So we'll have to wait a bit longer until it'll qualify!

    I wanted an MGTC, but they are just to expensive, so I bought a cherry mint Honda Shadow Spirit motorcycle instead for 1/20th the price and got my spoked wheel fix on. A lot faster and more reliable than an MG for sure. Believe me, it's got way more chrome on it than I want to polish... Young people just can not afford to blow $40K on an old hard to find car with hard to find parts that runs and sounds and shifts like a tractor.

      @@Everyday2Exotic Yep, huge pretty shiney chrome 21 inch front spoked wheel like a chopper, but not a chopper. Super pretty but for me, 750cc is about the biggest I ever want to ride. Polishing chrome and keeping a pretty vehicle clean though is an extra PITA, no matter what collectible thing you have. Oddly, the smaller the motorcycle you have, the more fun it is to drive. A 250cc bike is lightweight, flicable and highly manueverable and controllable like a Sopwith Camel, where as the bigger bike you get, the more it's like you're sitting at top a freight train or driving a car. Like an MG Midget for example versus a Cadilac Impala, for example. The small Midget, even though it has way less horse power, is a whole lot more fun, and it's the same for motorcycles. People go as high as 1300cc, and then, you might as well be driving a car...

      I'm allowed to own motorcycles but unfortunately not allowed to ride them. or so says Amy... It's less about my ability than the other people on the road. That said, Our MG TC isn't necessarily much safer! There have been a few bikes that have tempted me, mostly in the line of old British classic bikes, but it doesn't make much sense to me to own them if I can't ride them. The rules go both ways, however, as it also means Amy can't have a Vespa, which she would love.

      Giving the moving air a concentrated channel to run through significantly decreases drag versus having a large sloping roof that causes areas of high and low pressure, creating a vortex that pushes back on the incoming air, which equals drag. When you're racing, reducing drag is paramount. This is something that Abarth and Zagato engineers figured out, which is what made these cars nearly unbeatable for their time.

      To be honest with where the rollbar is it would take one heck of a whiplash for me to hit it with my head, especially with a street driven car. If I had it on the track, however, I would certainly add padding to it, but at least locally, for the vintage racing I do with the various organizations that run them, I'd have to rebuild it into a full cage as well, add a fuel cell, fire suppression, etc., so I'm reluctant to do so.

      Absolutely! Unfortunately, being younger, I missed most of the era that the cars in the collection date from. I do tend to prefer the cars of the 50's through the 70's, as they came from an era of innovation, and diversity where most more modern cars just feel the same. I do have another significantly rarer race car in the collection that raced to podium wins at Watkins Glen and Bridgehampton in 1953-1954. Its definitely a cool car, but pretty obscure from a small British Manufacturer. It would make a very cool episode but probably in a couple of seasons when the channel is more established.

    I loved your episodes right from the beginning. But I have to say, you just keep getting better and better! Your personality, presentation and production make this one of my favorite car shows. As I've mentioned before, I know what goes into making a show like this and it's so fun to watch. I've always liked little sports cars and the "double bubble" has always been a favorite. Yours is beautiful with that Aston paint color and the racing history is the cherry on top. I am a little scared of the front radiator so low to the ground. Driving a car like this, or a Lotus 7 like I drive, you really have to change your mindset of straddling some object in the road. I forgot one day and tried going over an unexpected something the size of a brick; very loud bang! Fortunately I got only a dent in my oil pan instead of a hole. Lesson learned! Thank you for another great episode and highlighting a car many people aren't familiar with.

      I'm glad you've been enjoying it and comments like this make it all worthwhile! There are reproduction radiators available, though expensive. It would be a lot of fun to drive at speed on a track, but without a Mini or other small displacement car to race against, the only thing I'd be able to do is race against my own lap times, which isn't as much fun. I have thought it would be fun to take it to a local autocross, however, which could be a blast, especially if I can keep the momentum up! Unfortunately, locally no one is racing anything with truly small displacement in vintage, so there really isn't a good group to run with.

      There are currently exactly 200 cars in the collection. This is the 12th episode, so that leaves 188 cars to go. At the current rate, it will take 564 more weeks to get through them all, so the answer is theoretically late April 2035? Assuming that we don't add any more cars between now and then, that is. That said, the collection is split between six different buildings, and some cars are either in active restoration or awaiting restoration. The vast majority, however, are running, driving cars,. As a result, it would be tricky to do a full walkthrough of the collection. We've been working on trying to get the website (www.hauglandcollection.com) moving forward again, as the intent of it is to be a virtual tour of the collection, but due to a number of issues, including moving the turntable to the new studio, and sorting out a redesign of the site overall, we haven't updated it for several months. there are several cars up but there's a lot that are still missing.

A properly sorted and maintained Stag is a joy to drive. I never tire of it. It actually lives up to its original remit as a sophisticated, comfortable touring car pretty well. The power steering effort can be reduced to improve the steering feel. One other small thing I would like to correct you on is that the front suspension is not double wishbone, but Macpherson strut. More in line with the 2000, 2500 range, not the Tr6. Anyway, I enjoyed your take on the car.

      You're right, we have to take special care of these amazing cars! The Stag went through a full restoration, including engine work and tuning so it's all ready for many more years on the road!

    Very nice video! Fun fact: Jan Wilsgaard, chief designer, made the Amazon lines - and the boxy 740 with, say 30, years apart. Trends... Btw, the Volvo safety icon is really the 240 (apex of ICE car evolution). Imho.

    I really like the cars you have, please find either a citroen DS or better CX and give yourhonest opinion, amazing cars but hard to own, but REALLY amazing, especially the CX series2 with turbo. Betrer ride you only find in a bentley or Rolls

    • @Everyday2Exotic
      @Everyday2Exotic 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is definitely a Citroen in the collection. And someday we will make a video about it!

    • @ahaugland1
      @ahaugland1 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We have two Citroens in the collection but neither of them is a DS or CX, so filming one would require either buying one or borrowing one from another owner who is amenable, which is something we haven't done yet but have discussed doing some time in the future. The two Citroens we have are a Traction Avant and a 2CV, both of which are significant cars in the history of the automobile and would be worth doing an episode on. I'm hoping to get to one of them this season!

    One of my students said very snarky that she couldn't understand how volvo still hav the symbol for male and not the female logo, ver flabergasted i stuttered that itsn't the symbol for male, its the old symbol for Iron as Iron in a Element. Volvo was always proud over the steel they used, high quality swedish steel...

    Hell oh--emissions garbage they put On any engine will cause it to run HOTTER ,DUHH.

    • @Everyday2Exotic
      @Everyday2Exotic 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      When those emissions standards stack on top of other issues with the car, it really created a perfect storm for failure.

      If you watch the full video, there is more context! It wasn’t simply the emissions issue. There were many factors.

      B4 I served 29 years in Dodge Dealerships Tune Dept's I had a healthy Career as an independent Tune Up Mechanic. In March of 1983 the Smog Check Program started in the LA Basin while the rest of the area was still under the original A1 program... Regardless of that, when U adjust the A/F Mixture with an infrared U R going to try & achive the highest CO2% U can so U have optimum efficiency. So your theory of 'too lean' is BS. My whole career <Strickly doing professional Tune Up Related Diagnosis & Repair> was from 1977 to 2015 was in So Cal.,,,, any questions?

      1 think I saw maybe 3 Triumphs come in for a Smog Check from 1983 to 1996 < I was in Dealerships by 1986... BTW I had a 1974 Spitfire in the late 1980's

    Remember as a kid, we where on holiday in Devon, i was a manic young car nut, and i used to draw racing cars. We were sitting at the hotel bar, and the guy next to me looked over my shoulder and saw my drawing, before i knew it, 3 guys started talking about the cars they had owned, then it came to the Stag, and it was like the scene in jaws where they compare scars, but these guys where talking what parts had been done, cylinder heads, engine blocks, gearboxes, final drive, steering racks, the list was endless, BMC at it's best and worst in one vehicle

    If triumph had been left to finish development on the engine all the problems would have been solved before it went into production instead BL got there mits on the company and ruined it and just pushed into production as quick as they could as they had no cash. If triumph had got to finished it would have had 4 valves per cylinder and fuel injection as well. So you think it sounds good now. It could have been even better.
