Anybody that completed this install. Did you have any issues with stuttering while driving?
@Xenoviathewrx I never have...and if it's installed correctly it shouldn't affect the driveability
Stock engine? ,I am currently on the RA block 425 whp not sure how much more I can push
@nightconceptproduction8299 It's not completely stock, It's a bone stock Subaru shortblock, and I had Outfront motorsports do a drop in CP forged piston that they have spec'd for new EJ25 blocks. So all bearing clearance and rods are stock. I'm now at about 550whp with new setup, same motor here
@ how much did you have to pay for that if you don’t mind me asking you ?
@nightconceptproduction8299 if you take them a brand new EJ shortblock, I believe pistons and installation were about $800. I used to live by Outfront and had several shortblocks with this done. Highly recommended!
So the pressure chart in the end of video, is that lpfp pressure or hpfp pressure? I ask because i am having issues with hpfp pressure drops on full boost (on a 2022 subaru wrx and e54) and not sure if the hpfp is the cause or if the OEM lpfp cannot handle the loads requested. This is also on 28psi peak boost hybrid Blouch 5360xl turbo.
@stock.cars.2ned My car is an STi, so port injection, I only have a low pressure fuel pump. Most direct injection cars like your 2022 WRX will hit the limit on the HPFP before the in tank fuel pump, especially on Ethanol. But I'm not too informed on the FA engine limitations. Sorry
@@D-TunedGarage Thanks, i forget STI is ej and port injection only.
Oh wow, 30psi of boost is crazy!? I love it; could you go in to what turbo you have and engine internals. I’m a tuning nerd and love all of this stuff. I’m currently working on my 04 STI, stick internals and FP Blue turbo. I’m currently at 18psi. Love your set up, btw 😊 Keep the content coming! ❤
Yes, sir, I've done some 30psi pulls recently to log and check over my tune for a dyno day I'm trying to set up. Engine is a stock EJ257 with ARP 625+ studs and a CP drop-in forged piston from Outfront Motorsports. Turbo is a Blouch 3.5xtr with a 10cm exhaust housing. It is basically all the bolt in parts on a STi engine addressing the weak point of the piston. I will try and make a clearer explanation of all parts in an upcoming video.
Tmi vs fmi
@@PeterHernandez-lg2eh you asking what is better?
I just bought the 450Walbro today and was lookin into using stock Hanger and your the only vid I seen and Sorry to ask you much questions.
@opticsmedia.official That was why I made the video. I always heard of people fitting it but never found a explanation of it. I don't mind questions at all.
How did it work for you? What did you modify? And did it stutter at all?
@Xenoviathewrx you shouldn't be modifying anything on the housing other than setting up the hanger for hardwire with the two studs
@@D-TunedGarage how do I make studs? Rn I'm just using the plug. Could that cause my stuttering?
@Xenoviathewrx That is absolutely dangerous and should not be done. That pump will melt the wires and can cause a 🔥. Radium sells a simple stud kit
Also, which Iwire fuel pump wire kit you got? Im looking to do the same set up, and I dont have a Radium hanger, I want to do the same thing you did lol

@@D-TunedGaragemen I tuned mine and I was about 100hp less and on the Cobb the converted load doesn’t go above 2.85 🤦🏻♂️ probably is the turbo then?
@@edgartorres1413 should definitely go above 2.8 g/rev
@@D-TunedGaragei know right, we are thinking stuck TGV or bad turbo but is weird because it doesn’t smoke or burn oil
@@edgartorres1413 that sucks, always a snag. 😢
That's the wrong hole. The one you run the wire through behind the fender is further up behind some boxes that aren't there in 08-14 STIs. I'm hesitant to go through the grommet you did because it's not sealed or covered from water.
Well like I said in the video, a wire was already ran through there. So It didn't make sense to make another hole in another grommet. That wire is as sealed as your gonna get, there is always a chance of water intrusion when your making holes for wires and such coming into the cab. It rains a fair amount here and have yet to have an issue. So choose another spot if you don't feel comfortable with what you see.
@@D-TunedGarage I ended up using the same spot. I'll just add some RTV to help seal it.
@@D-TunedGarage I have everything installed, pump aint running. I have quadruple checked everything is correct from looking at your video, iwire's video, and their written instructions. Time for some ARP bolts and fire lock gaskets lol
@Craiggg12345 had ARP bolts 2000s, jumped to ARP625+ but didn't go firelock gaskets yet. After messing with the tune on the new setup, I believe It was too aggressive timing on the spool up that pushed the gasket a little. So far I'm making more power on the 625+ and just adjusted my tuning for a softer timing map on spool
If I delete my air pumps but still have a high flow cat and do open source can I pass emissions on a not so strict state
@JermJermFlores I would say obviously depends on state and depends on the shop. High flow cat meets emission requirements in most states that use federal standards. Removal of the pump would not fall under being ok in any state but inspection is not strict in my state and I have it pass every year as you see in the video
@@D-TunedGarage what program are u running to run flex fuel? Is it open source still?
Give you an idea, I live in shit California. My STI has a Cobb intake, up pipe and their 20g turbo (all carb legal with stickers), ETS TMIC, killer b headers, 1050 injectors and 340 fuel pump, STOCK downpipe, IAG AOS, Koyo radiator and pro tune. I’m still hesitant to try to smog it legally. I got it hot smogged last year. I read the AOS or pro tune may be a disqualified.
@@Craiggg12345 AOS street is carb compliant , bring the sticker. A protune would clean up the A/F and should make that pass if its dialed in right.
Do you know if they check ECU for 2nd pump> otherwise i would just "fake" mount it when you do the delete and go in for the inspection.
let me know about that iwire kit homie, gauges too, please and thank you
@tstandsforturbo I made the video explaining in detail about the Iwire kit but am having computer issues editing the video. Stay tuned it's coming though...thanks for watching
Do you have a video of how you wired it up? I know ya used iwire just wondering how it all hooks up
@denniswilliams3993 Unfortunately I did not make a video of the install of my I wire kit but I don't mind making one. If you have any specific questions I can answer I have no problem doing so
I know it’s not recommended but I tried to use oem plugs and pump prime but I had no fuel pressure nothing melted just No pressure any suggestions? Not sure if an oring Wa not in right or not.. also had difficulty getting it to fully seat on clips
@denniswilliams3993 did you use the clip off the oem pump on the bottom like I did in the video? Also I know I didn't remove the fuel pump in the video but I stated I cut about 1/4 inch off the top nipple to allow the pump to fully seat
I did remove about a 1/4” and mine wasn’t oem it was a dw65c from previous owner but I did use a clip off of it I think my wiring may be in the way of it fully seating.. have to disassemble again and have a look
Hi Did you check T/Belt to Guide clearances?
I use a plastic gauge that came in a timing belt kit I had installed a long time ago, I just saved it and always use that for clearance. But I do not remove the guides on the timing covers when disassemble and reassemble. I do set the clearance on the crank every time with the same plastic spacer that I have.
Not bad for a flat4
Would take a Cobra Mustang just to have a fair match, pretty good for a car made to dice corners 😂
what wastegate size and brand?
38mm Turbosmart on a Grimmspeed external wastegate up-pipe
Hi, great videos! I’ve got a similar setup I’m putting together. You’ve got 3 inch Perrin inlet, right? How did it fit at the turbo inlet? My TGV delete obstructs the path. Have you used phenolic spacers to lift TGV a bit?
Yes it has a 3" Perrin inlet. I did end up tossing in a set of I think 8mm phenolic spacers. They are not needed, I built my buddies engine the same way with a 3" Perrin inlet no phenolic spacers, it just gets tight.
@@D-TunedGarage Yeah, I just tried to install the inlet first and then squeeze the TGV, inlet deformed a bit but not as bad as I expected. Cheers! Will be looking for more advices as I progress 🙂
🔥 I'm planning on getting the 3.5 as well tuner said I'll be making about 520ish with it
Yeah, depending on the dyno but you should be able to hit the 500whp depending on how aggressive the tune and supporting mods in the 26-30psi area. Have you bought the turbo yet?
@@D-TunedGarage not yet, getting the smaller stuff first to build the engine first, hopefully Ill have enough money left to actually buy it lmao
@@mitch2456 I'd look into Blouch's new generation turbos. They don't sacrifice spool and can make good power. They are the G2R models
Only recommendation is to flip the straight over and average both side to ensure flatness because the temp of your hand along will make the straight edge bow. I use a precision cast iron heavy like 1” thick that is laser straight. And it doesn’t move
The machine straight edge only has 1 side that machine true flat so I can't flip it. I appreciate the insight
@@D-TunedGarage Sounds like you had good results though. And having the straight edge calibrated helps know it’s flat for sure. Most people skip this step all together, glad to see someone is taking the time to make sure it’s flat.
Thats just blinker fluid build up from non-use by WRX drivers
Exedy Stage 1 clutch?? I feel like the Blouch Turbo will exceed the torque capabilities that clutch can handle. Rest of the build seems proper 👌
It's the Stage 1 HD. It's rated high like 460/480wtrq. This is a daily driver so I didn't wanna go twin disk. But the way the car rips tires into 2nd and the banging of every other shift its doing great at this power level. Been beating on this clutch for over 2 yrs. Still looked good when I removed it
She's a spicy unit! Flat-foot shifting and all 🤘
That's not flat foot shifting in this video. I stopped using it cause I feel like I can do it faster just shifting my normal way. If you watch my flat foot shifting video you can audibly hear the gap on shifting with it when it cuts to antilag to hold boost
@D-TunedGarage gosh dang you are flying through them gears then! You know your fast when I thought you were flat-foot shifting haha.
@codyhendrickson7735 LOL. Thanks. My co workers always ask what the hell I am doing cause of the way I drive. I just tell then I dunno clutch in move gear shifter and clutch out. While I'm doing that let off the gas pedal. Thanks for watching the video and commenting. Appreciate it 👍
Is that a merpmod?
Edit: I think i understand the question. I was never able to find a merpmod flex fuel map for my car. I ended up going with Dimemod based on a friends recommendation. I have not enabled the flex fuel yet but I have the software to try it.
@@D-TunedGaragegot you, thanks for answering my question. Regarding dimemode I also have it on my car and other cars around. How do you connect flexfuel sensor to tgv/lambda2, using some wiring kit or just llug it straight to the connector?
@ArtemBuiltRacing I was looking at the options that dime mod allows you to use for the flex fuel input. Looks like you can take your choice of either TGV, rear 02 sensor or the MAF sensor if you converted to speed density. I was gonna use the TGV but I'm trying to simplify wiring so I might be doing something custom
@@D-TunedGarageIve seen on nasioc forum that flex sensor need some kind of module to convert hertz signal to 0-5v in order to get it working with ECU, is that true?
@@ArtemBuiltRacing Yes. I ended up buying an old cobb module that was pre-green speed because they are basically worthless to people wanting to run cobb. Their module takes the ethanol sensor and converts it to a linear 0-5v output the dime mod will recognize.

@@D-TunedGarage so does it have flat foot shift? or are you just like power shifting
@BlessedSubie On this video, I was using flat foot shifting. But I honestly feel like it's slower than me shifting the way I do. It cuts ignition when the clutch switch is pressed in. That's the gap you hear in this video, I never let off the gas pedal in this video.

when you check fuel pressure with a mechanical guage where do you tee into?
You can tee into anywhere before the pressure regulator. Once it goes into the regulator the pressure is dropped to relatively nothing
im running a blouch 3.0xtr at 24 psi
How much power you end up making?
i havent had luck with these plugs, i gapped mine to .023 and was still getting spark blowout.. went back to oem plugs.
I actually found out the gas station had somehow mixed up gasoline with their E85 pump. So the plugs were not the issue. Also OEM plugs are NGK plugs I don't remember if they are iridium or double platinum but that is too hot of a plug to be running at this power level
If your still blowing out spark at .023 at 24psi I would be looking at replacing coils. Or maybe you got some of the counterfeit NGK plugs I've seen people talking about
@@D-TunedGarage yeah I'm not sure. I did replace coils but I went back to OEM as in NGK Iridium SILFR6A haven't had a problem. I'm at 419/409. Very well could have gotten some bad plugs but I got them at O'Reilly's so idk.
@walterbaldwin3643 Well I'm glad you got it figured out. Always happy to hear an issue got resolved. I'm sure the car is a blast
Did you have to swap the clutch at this power level?
When this motor was originally put together over 1 yrs ago I installed an Exedy Stage 1 HD. That's what's in the car now. I cannot speak to what a stock clutch can handle
@j.p.3972 I am sure it's dependent on how you drive. Im sure the way I drive I could kill a stock clutch on 300whp 🤣
Stock clutch was angry with any launch at 300wheel. Went to 400 wheel and upgraded to Xclutch organic HD. No problems now 😁

When you get the maps all dialed in and if you decide to add in those fuel dampeners would you have to make adjustments to the map for those?
I might, but it's dialed in pretty close, so it should just smooth out the AFR when the fuel pressure cleans up.
Have you ran the car with it like that?
Yes, I currently have it in the car and will post videos of what I saw and how it changed everything for the better. Im making well over 500whp no problem, rock solid fuel pressure!
I also wanted to ask where does that connection up top connect to? I’m planning to run it just like you meanwhile I save up for that radium hanger!
@sergiosegovia7845 I have a I-wire hardwire kit so it has its own connection. It no longer uses the factory connector on the top of the fuel pump housing
I love those KSTech intakes. It’s awesome that they have the stock or larger diameters and also different have options to adapt to specific front mount pipings. The new temporary fuel routing came out good. But the “final” way you explained how you would like to run it seem like a solid routing
06 obxt; my 25K+- valve cover gaskets are weeping oil, not really leaking. When I put new gaskets in🙄 what can I do to keep this from happening again?
The biggest thing I have seen that keeps a gasket of any kind is cleaning the surfaces very well. Also only use OEM gaskets, I've used aftermarket gaskets and they always seem to leak. The silicone only can do its job when the surface its put on is very clean and dry. Any oil or debris will let the silicone dry without grabbing the surface. If it doesn't get a good bond to the metal oil can seep by
@@D-TunedGarage I used felpro gadgets in the past, didn't seat correctly, and the "recommended" procedure is not to use any sealant on the gaskets area🤷🏽. @vannevels6758 Felpro gaskets are not good for Subaru valve covers. I've used felpro and lots of aftermarket brands, and they just don't do the job. Remove the dog bone from under the intercooler and the motor mount nuts and I use a little 6" 2x4 piece of wood and you can lift from the transmission pan, the front diff drain bolt area or even the oil pan.
