3000km on a Moped from Austria to Tunisia and Back | Maxi Touring Travel
The final leg of the Roadtrip is here, plagued with recurring ignition problems I somehow make it back home. Even though the last days were more challenging from a technical point they were more interesting in terms of sightseeing. In the End I travelled 3000km from Austria to Tunisia and Back, rode through Sanddunes on my moped and had a mostly great during those 3 weeks.
Moped Travel to Africa, doing a tour on my 50cc Puch Maxi to the Sahara. More than a year after arriving back home from Mongolia I decided to do another trip, a bit smaller this time. So I spent 3 Weeks and covered 3000km on a Mission to get some Sahara Sands under my Mopeds tires. Follow me on this Adventure to see how it works out.

      @@Tondyny I don't think it'll be a bad choice, I don't think such a Honda with stop working, however if you want to consider some things then I would think about spare parts availability. Where was it soldin the world, is the tire size common are spare parts common where I am going or can I carry them? I would suggest also looking into the Innova as I think that model is very similar although much more common and the engine is extremely common so parts are never an issue. But even with the other in 3 months I don't think it will be an issue

    Thumbs up, but here comes the criticism .. As for the content, there is no consistency, it's jumpy, random and superficial .. it seems that you have really nothing to say with your videos, just as if you have an obligation to show something .. or you just can't be bothered to film everything you see. However, on the technical side, things have significantly improved compared to the trip to Mongolia... the episodes are of good length, with better sound and camera work. Anyway, good luck with your future adventures, if you're still alive of course, coz it's been 3 years of great silence 😉 ✌

    • @maxitouring

      Thanks also for the criticism, first I have to say I am not a great videographer, so I often forget to film or feel too akward. The superficiality I honestly don't understand, what would you like to have heard? How I changed as a Person or how the people inspired me or I really dont know... But if you need any more info feel fee to ask, maybe it's worth making a video for it ;) The video silence may be 3 years but I am always commenting here and I am thinking about new adventures, just got a bit thrown back by the whole pandemic thing and currently saving up some cash.

      @@maxitouring - Thanks for your reply!! .. to be honest I didn't expect that 😁 Well, I would have preferred to hear and see the STORY as a whole .. a sort of book with introduction, topic development and conclusion .. where did you get the idea to go to Mongolia at all .. and don't tell me this has been your lifelong dream, lol .. what force drives you out of your cozy home into the wild World :)) Then - much more "boring stuff" related to your trip - getting visas, finding hotels, prices, money exchange etc .. how and when you maintain and fix your two wheeled trusty companion .. info about local food, tourist traps, attractions, etc .. a bit of history about these countries, cities .. their cultural specificity and religion .. No worries, you're doing great .. it's me and my curiosity - when the subject is interesting, I need to know more :)) Anyways, it was nice to hear from you .. I wish you best of luck in your personal life and in planning and preparing new trips ✌ However, to get enough money to travel, you probably have to rob a bank 😉

  • @greybeard5774

    13:13 - May I ask what did you pay for?? Well there is actually no national park or restricted area. This guy just collects money from random foreign by-passers like you .. he's no guard or whatsoever .. his motto is - money must be taken from fools :))

    • @maxitouring

      Hello, I paid for a passing through a protected area, and yes it seems scammy, however the road really does pass through a protected area and the same "ticket" i bought can be bought from the government office in the capital as i met someone who bought his ticket in advance and then didn't have to pay that person. So not a Scam at all, maybe a government one but that person does work for the government.

So far, at age 64, I have ridden right around a million miles. I have owned mopeds all my life, got my first one, a new Peugeot 103, at age 16 in 1975. I currently have a 1980 Puch Newport II (same as a Maxi) with a ZA50 two speed engine, and a 1979 Sears Free Spirit, made by Puch/Kromag, with an E50 engine, and the same Puch snowflake wheels you have on your Maxi. I also have a 1979 Vespa Rally 200 scooter.

    I see your Puch is an E50 single speed. I have a Puch Newport II ZA50. It is much better when climbing hills loaded down. If it upshifts, just back off the throttle and it will downshift back into first gear, giving you a lot more pulling power. Love your videos.

    • @maxitouring

      Yes a ZA50 is more convenient when going uphill, however those engines are far more prone to damages, either clutches or the gearing easily gets damaged, so the E50 is a lot "safer" bet
