On the AFGHAN BORDER, Wakhan Valley riding | Moped travel from Mongolia to Austria

  • I ride through the amazing Wakhan Valley, along the Border to Afghanistan. At some point the river forming the border gets so narrow you can almost wade through, I feel content though just tossing some rocks into afghanistan. After 5 Days on the Border I head back to the Pamir Highway M41 and drive over the Ak-baital pass with 4655m before finishing my tajikistan loop and heading back to kirgistan. And all that on a small Honda C50 Supercub.
    In 2018 I did this trip where I shipped my Moped to Mongolia and rode it all the Way back home to Austria. In 3 Months I covered 13.000 kilometers crossed the Mongolian steppes and went through the Pamir Mountains. All in all it was an awesome adventure I wouldn't want to miss.

    Many might say you need at least 500ccs to do that stuff,,,,,, but then you see those guys on bicycles! Your vehicle is like a magic carpet ride compared to that... Well done sir.

    I have one question - did you have withdrawal symptoms on completing your adventure ? Like feeling disconnected from the world on return and then wondering what’s next? Etc?

      Hey thanks! Not really first of all it was "only" 3 months and then I was already signed up for my masters program and within one month of arriving at home I started that, could be thanks to strict scheduling afterwards I didn't experience any of that or something else, but the next day after I was home felt like I had never been away honestly :D

      @@maxitouring love you journey and brings back a lot of memories of my travels about 20 years ago on my bicycle. Interesting that you didn't feel the vacuum that coming back to regular life creates. I felt it every time I came back from a long journey but again, I never came back to a Master Degree program. The first long trip I was out 13 months and after been out there so long I had such a hard time integrating back and found that based on the simplicity of how other people live in poverty and still happier than the overbearing asshole who has more money than he knows what to do with but still an asshole and the woman who have this huge sense of entitlement for things that are so trivial that I would just shake my head and long for going back out there and travel and interact with those human beings that are genuine and so giving , who have so little but are so willing to give, share and invite. I have lived in America for most of my life and I love this country and feel privilege to have all the opportunities that I have and even though I am not the definition of success , nothing the less I have experienced and live a life that I have no regrets no withstanding my mistakes, I am very happy and privilege but at times like when I come back for these trips, it takes time for me to integrate and accept how the paradigm of consumption leaves many unable to have meaningful human connection. I am glad for your documentation of this amazing journey and also glad you have no issues with re-integration like I have and the older that I get, it seems more prevalent. Cheers.

    Hi Maxi Touring :) I was wondering where did you find food in these remote places? How did you manage for the food part? Thanks in advance for your kind reply :)

    • @maxitouring
      @maxitouring  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Food is really not that big of an issue, somewhere there is always a place selling food, I never carried food for more than 2 days, just because there was no need.

I's really a very subjective number, but 3000 is certainly an achievable number if nothing unexpected happens.
