It's so amazing that the frame rejection is so low in your case. Actually I didn't see any in this video. My Seestar usually rejects 20-40% of the frames, however I do not use it around the zenith. Do you use some tricks or something to get extremely low frame rejection rate?
Ordered mine 2month ago
I have one ordered and it’s my first step into deep sky astrophotography so anything you put on this item is of interest to me. Thank you.
That first step is the beginning to an addiction you will never get over! Good choice'
@@ScottCastrophotography - I fear I will fall into the black hole of equipment acquisition and so be it.
Nice review, been playing with the images also, definitely better optics, I felt eagle might have been a tad out of focus based on the clarity of veil, but anyway I am optimistic, the nice stars are a very welcome upgrade
Hi 👋 Great channel, I would like to see you take some images of orion's nebula or even Andromeda Galaxy??
It still seems like the Seestar images are clearer.
this is not terrible for 30 minutes data + the seestars fov is like 4x more zoomed in - seestar does alot of additional processing also. its early days yet.
but the Dwarf III has Mosaic Mode
I guess you meant nice picture “at the end of the night” 😅 The images you got from Dwarflab were already stretched? Was this done automatically by the app software, or after the shoot by Dwarflab themself? I would love to see a image straight out of the camera, no fiddling, just the image we get in the first place. Most people are not able or don’t have the skills to edit such an image further. That’s why I would like to see the raw image. But great to finally see a dso, because that’s what most of the buyers are going to use it for. I only shot dso’s, the sun and moon and in the beginning some buildings in my neighbourhood. But not one succesful panorama. I hope the Dwarf 3 will be much better at panorama’s.
@@BommeltjeNL you're right😂😂 whoops
Exciting stuff! Thanks, Scott!
Definitely a huge upgrade from the Dwarf II! Which object is your favorite to capture with the Dwarf Smart Telescope?
Veil was always a first and favorite
so tempting already have the dwarf2 . Will you be doing any imaging with the dwarf3 on the milkyway or the northern lights if possible . Thanks 😀👍
I will, and I'm excited to!
The Pillars of creation look more visibel than they did on the previous version.
They're not blurry blobs anymore😂
Interesting.
love it! ...can you please tell me how you added the stars back in? was it an entire TIF save process? or something easier? lol
What puts me off the Dwarf 3 is the lack of replacable battery and removable sd card which are retrograde steps imo.
Thanks big help to me as a beginner
I have just discovered that the DWARF 3 will not come with the small sturdy tripod that came with the DWARF 2, no problem if you already have a Dwarf 2 of course, but for a potential first time buyer like me this will mean an extra cost added onto the initial first purchase. For the price of it ( around £500.00 here in the U.K ) the least they could have done is to include it , I can’t think why they didn’t this time around, even the SeeStar comes with one .
How much post photo processing is necessary, I struggle a bit with that to be honest, can you process the pics in an iPad ? as it has a very easy uncomplicated program built in ( and I don’t own a laptop)
Thank you. I find it diffiicult to learn a process via video. Do you have any recommendations for written tutorials? Thanks
Good job, scott. I had difficulties using siril i just use it for star reduction/removale. I am on the trial for pixinsite And will purchase when time is up but i know there are many pixinsite videos For helping out. I am going to follow your process for both apps I'd still like to try and work out siril anyways from your tutorial good job keep it up!
You make everything so complicated man, sorry but it’s too much
Wow I didn't realize the day and night difference you can achieve between Siril and Pixinsight!
"Astro Processing" & "Made easy" is an oxymoron.
@@ap8409 😂😂 i believe you are correct
Some folks do EAA with Sharp Cap and do not do any post processing.
Yes eaa is great! Love eaa! That's how I got started in astrophotography
Quindi cosa mi consigli di comperare? Seestar 50 oppure il dwarf 3?
Just got my seestar. How do I save my image before shutting down?
Need Internet to use the scope ?
Nope!
Excellent review. I believe that smart telescopes are the future of amateur astronomy and they are attracting many new people into the hobby. Many people use an ASIAIR, Eagle or a PC to essentially create a smart telescope. The latest generation of even smarter telescopes as you point out are doing a great job in providing people with a complete solution right out of the box.
Totally agree!
Smartphone is not for photography, similarly smart scopes are not for astrophotography. But, hey, you can advise NASA to take $500 smart scope to the space. .
excellent reviews , totally agree with you, i already own the Dwarf 2 and it went beyond my expectations. i also use a 6inch sct goto telescope and the two together give me all that i want from observing our universe .
I chose the Seestar S50. Dwarf coming in a close 2nd.
I just got the S50, but I wish the S50 came in different colors. I also really like the Dwarf too.
Nice review, I would only say that although Seestar represents a very good value, Vespera 2 I think is the best value on the market right now, it’s just a more mature system with better build quality, ability to choose fov, ability to rotate targets for framing, Starvis 2 etc… but you do have to pay more. I’m excited to test out the dwarf3 but I see that one as a companion scope to the other robots due to its widefield design
I did a 20h stack of SH2-171. I swear this is amazing. Stacked using Siril script, Gradients with Graxpert, Stretching with Siril, sent it to Lightroom for Enhance, finally tweaked it on Photoshop. The details are amazing, beautiful clean background. THANK YOU!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Got mine today. Im in North GA. Thank you for the info.
I'm looking at either of Seestar or DwarfIII but I want to print out the images at A4 or A3 size. I have little interest in iPhone/Ipad images. Can you comment on which is best for my needs?
I have a seestar and my friend has the dwarf. The dawrfs only pro compared to sestar is its small but the sestar is already so small it doesnt matter. Plus the seestar is able to get alot better pictures than the dawrf.
Seestar and Dwarf have small chips and with too low resolution. Also they have an alt/azi-mount which results in field rotation after 15-45minutes. So you need some Seestar/Dwarf in parallel or some nights to get enough files for stacking and post processing to ensure good quality. However for A4/3 you never will reach a hight quality picture without noise. I'm using an APCS-chip format camera with several classic telescopes and also here A4 is the maxium but I need at least 4-5 hours of material. Do you have any experience in astrophotography?
@@elythomaslumber Yes I do. And any other option besides the seestar/dwarf go into the thousands of dollars goofball. So if someone is looking to get into it its alot easier to digest $500 than $2000. Plus even with alt/az you can get very good pictures with enough exposures and processing. Pixinsight or if you dont wanna spend the money graxpert and siril are plenty good to get very nice pictures. And its really not hard to set it up with an EQ mount like I have. People are just upset I can get very good pictures without having to drop several grand on a setup, so i can fund my other hobbies. Not a soul is saying its better but for only $500 there isnt anything better for someone who wants to get into astrophotography.
@@elythomaslumber For someone who has most likely never sued a seestar you're very critical of it. Or youre just that bad at processing that you think the images would be unbearably noisy. Actually go to some forums where people actually process their data instead of just screenshotting what the app live stacks and youll be surprised how much money you wasted on other setups.
@@elythomaslumber Also saying the seestar/dwarf are terrible because there are better ( alot more expensive ) options out there is like saying a honda civic is garbage cause Ferraris exist. Idk why you would expect some insane resolution from a $500 package. use your noodle
Hoping to get my hands on Dwarf 3, the Dwarf 2 that I own has been a gamechanger as I'm physically impaired and moving around is really hard, especially with larger objects in my hands.
Don't much like 'smart' telescopes.
Ordered my Dwarf 3 back in May...I have the Dwarf 2 and I can't wait to see how much better the latest iteration will be. It seems that smart telescopes will follow a similar path to smartphones, as in there will always be a newer model on sale soon enough. On a good night, I have my Dwarf imaging whilst I am looking upwards with either my 127 Skymax or my150mm TS Photon reflector.
This video provides an amazing perspective on the current state of smart telescopes. While many of the latest models are still new and somewhat overpriced... they can still be a great choice for those interested in capturing deep sky objects with smart telescopes! Personally, I have a Seestar S50, and I love it! I've been using it more than my previous setup that I used all the time.
Thanks ❤

Thanks friend!
I agree about the support. It's a great team. I'm still hopeful the App will get more updates as we provide feedback, and also the firmware will improve over time
How do I clear the files off of the Seestar? I understand the memory isn’t great. Thanks. Simon
I wanted to take deep sky celestial photographs. Everyone online said my fitst telescope should be a Dobsonian with the largest aperture I could afford. So, I bought a 10" Dobsonian. Being elderly and feeble, I could not drag it into my back garden. Thirteen optical tubes and half a dozen mounts later, I have found that the ideal E.A.A. rig for me is my Celestron C6-A, a x.63 reducer/corrector (f/6.3) and Hyperstar 6 v4 (f/2) on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer GTi. I use an SvBony 405cc (asi495) and an SvBony 705c (asi585) cameras. This allows me photograph the moon and planets using a Barlow lens, about 93 of the Messier catalog with the 0.63 reducer and all the large targets with my Hyperstar. Very versatile rig.
I am looking forward to getting this. ❤
Thank you for that video ! Very informative although a bit fast. I may just buy the Seestar as the Vespera is too expensive. It’s a good starting point
Great, very detailed and comprehensive step by step instructions! Thank you for that!
