The combination of aperture, focal length, EQ mode, longer exposures and use of both lenses for imaging makes this really compelling for me! Just crossing my fingers about the price!
Thanks for the excellent commentary, as always! 😁🔭

My DWARF II is now 1 year old. I am very satisfied with it and had played with the idea of buying a Vaonis for larger lens and image quality. Until...
DWARF 3 will offer something that no other smartscope can do, widefield astrophotos! Images of the Milky Way and the possibility of registering meteorshowers. Hope the price is right.

I only just bought my Dwarf II about a month ago but honestly, Im still pretty stocked about the 3rd gen version, I just might keep the 2 and start saving for the 3 as well. I never thought I would like the Dwarf 2 so much but it is a truly remarkable little machine, even if its a little finicky at times. I'm excited for the future and I enjoy spending my time taking cool photos and images of space (and wildlife). I just hope the Dwarf 3 is still somewhat budget friendly. Well, we shalle see what the future holds, but for now, Im still enjoying the Dwarf 2 and i hope to see that Sky Atlas update soon because thats a pretty useful feature to have. I look forward to longer exposures as well as the better optics and sensor in the next gen Dwarf telescope.

I chose the ZWO SeeStar as my tiny do-all astro scope. I'd hope that ZWO would upgrade their sensor and find a way for EQ tracking in a future version. Thanks for your video. Clear skies, Michael

I used to have a DWARF II, which I was happy with. I then bought a Seestar S50, which I was more happy with and sold the DWARF II. Then I upgraded to a Vespera 2. But now I like the idea of having a lighter telescope to take around and complementt the Vespera. So, I put my preorder in for the DWARF III.

    Nice video, thank you :)
    my opinion si
    CONS
    - no battery remove (if it damged is a big problem)
    - no sd card (ok sd is not good for speed but the same as battery, if i damage memory goodbye dwarf)
    - aperture, ok i small telescope, very very portable but i prefer 50mm looks like the Seestar / Vespera II
    - focal lenght, i prefer 250mm not 150mm.
    PRO
    - ablsolutely portable
    - very simple to use (not like the Seestar but similar)
    - rich funcitions menu
If the photography is similar to Seestar / Vespera II and the price is similar to Seestar i think they won !!

The colour will be a sort of lightish gray (1:20) not black and I think a 256 GB or even 512 GB would have been the better storage option. Overall it will be a great upgrade.

    • @ScottCastrophotography
      @ScottCastrophotography  หลายเดือนก่อน

More storage would've been better, yes, but 128 is certainly better than 64

I have a Dwarf 2 , so far I’m very happy with it. However, I made the mistake of leaving the battery in it when not used for several months and it discharged it that he battery then failed to charge , luckily I had a spare . It did say in the instructions not leave the battery in while not in use for extended periods as there is a some amount of drain.
I assume they will ensure this had the necessary circuitry that this will happen with a built in non-replaceable battery.
Personally I think it is a retrograde step.
Pity, the rest look of the improvements looks good and it’s over £100 cheaper than the Dwarf 2 .
However I don’t think it’s worth the upgrade for me , when for not a lot more I could buy a Seestars s50 . A friend bought a S50 and I must admit it was impressive that has a built in battery as well. Each has there pros and cons, the Seestar is better for moon shots . The Dwarf wider angle lens better to capture larger areas of the sky and its more portable, so the new lighter version would be an advantage when I took the Dwarf 2 abroad to to Minorca. It’s the only time I got a clear sky for several days in a row 😮.
Owning both would be an awesome combination.

Ugh. I have a 512gb card in my Dwarf II that is nearly full. A solar eclipse lasts 3 hours. If I clear out the memory on the Dwarf III and record at 4K uncompressed at 30fps it will fill up the internal memory right at the peak of the eclipse. I would want 4k uncompressed if possible so I can do a moving stacking window across the eclipse and use the resulting frames to make a detailed time lapse. When they come out with a version with at least 384gb, I will buy one, even at twice the cost. Until then, I guess I'm stuck with the Dwarf II. Memory is cheap. Why they chose only 128gb is beyond me! My Google Pixel 7 pro has 1TB built in! They should have room for at least 6 hours of raw 4k video plus a few thousand raw images for stacking in post so people travelling with it won't have to plan time to pull all the data off between a solar eclipse and a nighttime astrophotography session.

Re Milky Way: Most times I can barely see the Big Dipper, mostly because of the clouds/humidity. And still the Dwarf can image a beautiful starfield. So, are you saying I would be able to do the same with the Milky Way? I can't see it here in Bortle 6 & have not seen the Milky Way since I was a kid in the 60s.

    • @ScottCastrophotography

@@ScottCastrophotography so even in a high Bortle scale, you'd be able to now? (side note: I pre-ordered the D3 already) if so, imagine the possibility of seeing the Milky Way in suburban parts of Los Angeles, that's like mind boggling.

Dwarf buggy app needs to be fixed before lunching a new hardware. Have both Dwarf 2 and Seestar S50 and S50 works flawless and I wish Dwarf app would work as good.
I would 3x times more for smart telescope with at least 70mm aperture, 280-350mm FL, and 8MP and with optional software feature built-in to mount to proper use it in equatorial configuration. Maybe Dwarf 5 Pro or Seestar 70EQ Pro?
