A turkey fryer works much better and is alot safer than the setup you are running there. A face shield is something I wear when making sinners. Instead of dumping them out of the mold, try grabbing the sprue with a pair of wire cutters.

When i set up on a spot like that,i will fish about half way to it to see if i can pick up a sucker,if i do i bait up and dunk the sucker in the jam,,,depending on the jam size i can pull 2 or 3 good flatties out of it!!
