This video and all of the comments were so amazing. I read them all. Tim you are beyond Epic. You and Shawn show us all the way, but you also explain how the path is not easy. I very much appreciate the honesty and the integrity it takes to show the challenges along the way.

Youre right about the path and a 10 min vid just wouldnt do it justice as far as the experience and the information of the story of catfishing and how the challenges are what makes it interesting and fun as well as exasperating on occasion. What a smooth ride across the water... like a knife gliding across softened butter, like we were all right in the boat with ya, gotta admit though, I closed my eyes and flinched between those rocks, but what a rush of excitement LOL... I still get chills every time I see a fish being reeled in and goosebumps when I reel them in myself. Question: Why did ya count 2 3 4 5? (to let the bait sink for only that amount of time?) I've counted when I've dropped bait straight down, but never after a cast... I learn something EVERY time I watch and listen! Great video Mr Tim and Mr Shawn (y'all are lucky and blessed to be such wonderful friends (brothers)!!) And what an awesome tribute to your folks at the end, that's special right there!! OMG!! I felt like I was watching an episode of Deadliest Catch!! Your narration, music and videography was on point!! 45th dangerous move on this EPIC adventure of the week!! Beautiful River an awesome Flathead!! All the tap, taps were worth it!! I love the Hook-sets and rod bends! I’m at the bottom of the falls now with a channel on the hook and now I’m back to watching to the end!!

Thanks roger... we did show SOME smarts by not rocketing through the giant boulder pass... only 7 ft to take an 8 ft wide boat through--- gotta kick it up on its edge and hairpin turn it 😳 at 25 mph

I really enjoyed this video Finally a video that is relatable to the small rocky river I fish..I will be putting the kyack in this summer and fall and use some these tactics..we did catch 2 5lb channels there in the last few weeks from the one spot we can fish from the bank..very excited to try and fish downriver awesome video

Tim, can you fill us in a little on your boat. I see some black boards on the back corners of your boat and one on the side What are they use for and what other things you have done (to a boat) you think have been a big help to your fishing?
Mr gadget, Like almost all catfishermen im a big tinkerer-inventor out of necessity. Those black boards on the back are light shield/ reflectors. There are led light strips mounted back there and those boards keep the lights that are shining up onto the rods out of my eyes at night. They have aluminum tape on the other side to help magnify the light. The one up front is for mounting a trolling motor to when its on the bow... otherwise its usually mounted just ahead of the console on the side and gets a foam roller system i came up with for when i anchor to concrete walls below dams in rough water such as "dead mans hole" on the mississippi... they have been some of my better inventions/customizations and both have been a huge help and have made not only my fishing life better but allowed me to catch more and bigger fish over the years
So Tim explain to me about these jet outboard motors, could you run shallow with a tiller jet outboard? can just any jet outboard make your boat shallow water or is it just like a combination of trim, the motor depth and boat? Great channel cats too🦅
Ive run small 16ft jon boats with small jet tillers in the past... nothing special to it 👍👍 and they do great in shallow water and are pretty darn peppy
Cameron, now i have more time to explain further. In a big heavy boat like mine, yes all that you mentioned comes into play. Mine is a tunnel hull so the bottom of the boat it the lowest thing in the water and the jetfoot is slightly higher so i dont hit the motor while skimming sand or jumping logs or rocks. Balance in a jet is key to its performance and thats why theres no seats in my boat... that way i can scooch heavier and lighter weight people and gear around to keep the boat as flat as possible. The motor has power trim that is tilted up during full speed smooth water operation and gets me about 2 mph more speed and better fuel economy when tilted up... tilted down gets me better torque in rough turbulent water at less than planed out speed. I can also tilt up to get the bow above big waves in windy conditions so i dont take on waves in a storm. Outboard jets arent fast or very cheap on gas but theyll get you almost anywhere you wanna go👍

No blues in this entire river system here.. tough bite this day but we caught some good ones... next trip had about a foot more water and the bite was on 👍👍👍
Well its very tough to catch it on film. I suppose its because ive had a few horrible boat wrecks on it years ago from rocks that are just under the surface. The big rock passes arent in this one cause it was too low to even get to them. There are many spots in this one where the rocks are mere inches under the water and inches from the corner of the boat as we thread the needle. If you were in the boat i think youd agree.
