ROUTINES AND RANDOM THOUGHTS!

I find keeping a routine is super helpful for me to stay inline, present and grounded. Today's society makes this hard to do sometimes because there is so much going on around us and it is easy to get distracted. But distractions are not always a bad thing either! As long as we don't let it take up too much time, we may find that it brightens our day, or we learn something new! www.youtube.com/...

That is awesome! I am not good at it, but sure do love to watercolor. Thank you and hugs!!
I was wondering where you went. When this video came up, I assumed you were back. Then I realized for some reason I am not getting you videos on my YT feed.
Oh, that is odd, it may have been a setting that I changed before and now have changed back. Thank you for being here!!
Hi Wendy, thank you so much for that wonderful message. I've been dealing with a medical family crisis with my mother, and I have no support from my siblings. I'm in transition to moving and feeling so down. I have 2 years to go before I can retire from my government job. I'm so tired and dealing with so much and I find your videos so uplifting and comforting. ❤😢
Thank you for watching and I am so sorry you are going through so much right now. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way. Hugs too!
I’m sick and tired of working and commuting and having no time for myself. I’m very much like you living life single. I’m 59 years old but if I retire at 62 I will only get $2000 from Social Security. That’s only enough for my mortgage. I would love to hear how you make it work and how much is a good amount to have in your 401(k)?
Thank you for sharing and I understand! Well, how much to have in retirement accounts is relative to the person, their age, lifestyle and how much their cost of living is. $2000/month for mortgage is a lot, at least to me it is - my total monthly expenses are less than that.
I am a rebel at heart. I do my own thing, I am no ones puppet. I do question everything. If we dont, we will fall prey to things out there in the world. This reminds me of a time I was looking to buy a car(financing it) the office woman had a stack of papers, shuffling them, handing me them to sign, I wanted to read them. She was getting frustrated, then one paper(I dont recall what it was, it wasnt good, very shady) I said no thank you and stood up and left. A friend that was with me was embarrassed and asked why I did that. It was a scam! The manager of the lot called me to try and save face. Needless to say I didnt buy a vehicle at that time and would never go back to that dealership. Love hearing your kitty singing! LOL here I am talking to your kitty when you held him up.
Thank you for sharing your story, and good for you!! I am pretty good at that now, picking up on my BS meter, years ago not so much, but learned a lot of hard lessons! Yes, Mozart is very vocal at times!! Hugs!
😍 My new passport is coming! I am ready to get out of town! Nice to see you

Age 63 left job in August. Enjoying time off. Was away from home 14 hours a day... couldn't do it anymore. Joined senior center and happiness with new friends and freebies like services and food. Slowed down and still dealing with expenses, which is OK! LOVE listening to your experiences and outlook on life. You're amazing.
Carol, you are amazing and congratulations to you on retiring and having fun! Hugs!!!!
Retired at 51 about 18 months ago.🩷Best decision for me, my health, and my life after 30 years at same mental health agency. Hubby retires in 14 months at age 56 1/2. We are ready to simplify and sit back and enjoy ourselves. We have lived within our means and don’t need much to be happy!❤
Woohoo!! Congratulations to you both, how exciting!!!!!
Grow up...go be homeless
I just quit my job at 59. I am just tired. Good for you to do things you way. I agree living overseas is not all it is worth. 😂
Hey Wendy! So good to see you again... I am battling some real health issues here in Denver, but trying to stay positive, so I can get the hell outta here & go somewhere else. I'd like to travel to a few places first and see where my body feels good. Get some fresh air. Yeah man, I am so done with how the world is now with social media/AI....I keep thinking I have to fit into all that, but now I am just accepting that I am old school, and I know that fake stuff does not make me happy!!
Great to hear from you too! I am so sorry you are dealing with health issues - sending hugs and prayers for getting better soon. I agree with what you said about the world. That is why so many of us have just remained old school to a point as best we can and if that is what gives us good vibes, then so be it and to hell with everyone else! Take good care of yourself lady!
if ur in jacksonville u might enjoy the grisham novel from 2012: the racketeer. the take on fla is interesting. as for music, yes love the cure; my record collection for the last 15 yrs is mostly right here on yt, along w/ the equiv of magazines, all in my playlist library, basically a public treasure trove. living in my 28th town by 50something; bit by travel bug when young:) karl lagerfeld quote sums up my outlook: when asked about his work habits, "i dont work. i do what i love under the best possible circumstances, that is not work." plz eleborate on albania, it is intriguing, jp and amelia (here on yt) were there this yr. recently considered a new trading course, but the (topnotch/well regarded pro) teacher charges $20k to learn his system... be interested to hear ur study protocol re: trading derivatives. solo, gen-x, travelin catlovers unite!
I was just thinking about you a few days ago! Nice to see a video update from you! My husband and I both retired at an earlier age and we are loving it!
Thank you! That is so awesome that you both were able to do that-hugs!!
Good to see you back and glad you're well. Yes at this stage of life we need to do our own thing and not listen to all the opinions out there that might not be right for us. I am currently listening to the thriller the dream home by T.M Logan which is great. Renting for a while is great idea while you consider what to do next..I am thinking of doing that too 😊
Thank you and great to hear from you too Sharon! Thank you for the book suggestion, added it to my list. Hugs!!
Us boomers are tired and want to retire too.
My Boomer uncle retired from working at VONS as a store clerk when he was 55 years-old. He owns a $900,000 house in Southern California. You must have missed out by staying in an area that didn't have a good economy.
Yes!
@@rwdchannel2901 There weren’t many places that had good economy back then. I’m still working as I’m alone, raised my children alone, now taking care of my 95 yr mother. You younger folk think you have it hard, your issues now are nothing than what life will bring you in the future.
I just invest in index funds tracking the s&p500 and some blue chips. I don’t day trade. I am retired at 38, almost 3 years now. Yes, I do have a husband, that works still from home, his job is fairly easy breezy, he just makes a few calls here and there and has unlimited sick days (Finland) and has 7 weeks of vacation time a year!! Most importantly he works from home.
Wonderful and so happy for you both!!! Hugs!!
What kind of work did you do that you could retire at 38? 😲
@ diligent budgeting and prioritizing saving and investing. Stay away from debt, no car loan. I worked as a pharmaceutical consultant. Didn’t make much money though, but my company did offer great health benefits (free), the work was slow so I was able to care for my baby until he was 6, and had side hustles bringing $500-700 extra each month that went straight to brokerage account, I wouldn’t touch a dime of it.
My biggest wish is connection with like-minded but that's the most difficult thing.
It is more difficult these days for sure!
would think w/ worldwideweb it'd b ezier:) maybe we'v become fragmented by so many channels of consumption that no one is likeminded...
OMG Wendy 👧Good to see you looking great! I'm okay; won't elaborate too much on my trauma but I lost my job in June due to a polite 'early retirement' termination LOL. I have the opportunity to go back to vocational retraining and achieved my state and national certifications but guess what? due to good ole age discrimination (66yo) and pathetic blacklisting from a past employer, I have no choice but to throw in the towel and just try to enjoy life. So glad to hear you are doing well and doing things YOUR WAY. You go GF! Welcomed to come visit and hangout anytime in Southeast Wisconsin!🌹🦋✍
Thank you and so good to hear from you as well girl!! I am sorry about the job issue - but maybe that is a sign to slow down and enjoy your time. You are free!!! Hugs!!!
Just turned 55. Wasn't my plan but made a split second decision to quit my job in 2020 due to all the nonsense that was going on. I thoroughly enjoyed the first few years of "freedom" but lately I feel kind of lost I guess. I actively trade the markets but never was able to grasp the idea of options enough to give it a try. Nice to see a vid pop up from you, Wendy.
Hi! Way to go with trading. My dad was good at training but lost a ton with options. Be careful. How about join a club or learn a new language? I'm in a similar position. 🥰
Awesome!! I understand the lost feeling, I think most of us go through that several times in our lives. Yes, options is a bit complicated, I just need to devote some time to it and really dive in and learn it! Hugs to you!!
@@halstonandharleys had a friend who's a chef. he got into options & cashed out w/ millionS in midlife. so did suzy orman, but she worked at a brokerage & learned there.
Thanks for the updates and what you're planning next. As a retired person, it takes a lot of activities/hobbies to fill a 24 hr day everyday for the rest of your life. Many volunteer or take part time work to fill their time and travel is always expensive. Maintaining your health is the most important for without that you won't be able to many of the other activities. Enjoy your time in Florida..
100% agree!!! I think a lot of us (me included) get so used to wasting time when we aren't working the 40 hour work week that when we get to a point of retirement, we can get into a bit of a mess with things and the boredom that comes with it. Thank you for sharing and hugs!!
@@sued.530 so very true. I am glad I'm retired but I just haven't found anything yet to fulfill me.
@@janetjaken1389 Retirement is great if you have enough money and a reason to get up everyday. I love gardening as it saves money on groceries and requires my attention. Lots of ideas on YT too. Hope you find your fulfilling activity soon.
I love that your writing. I wrote and published one book, I'm trying to write the 2nd, but it's been really difficult to write for some reason. I don't know if it's any good.
Oh wow! That is so cool that you wrote/published a book, congratulations!!!
My 54 year old gen X body made the final decision with my burned out, tired mind. I was diagnosed with a plethora of health issues 2 years ago and couldn't do the 9-5 soul sucking, trying to keep with the millennial suck ups, rat race anymore!! I hired an attorney and fought for my retirement after going above and beyond for over 20 years at the same job. Biggest lesson I learned....."the man" doesn't give a shit about you. Thank God my family has helped me through the last few years. Im reading "the body keeps score" .....we Gen X'ers grew up fast, did what we had to do, and didn't complain.....this book explains how living in survival mode changes your brain, and you can't sustain that kind of life. Im trying to get mentally and physically well. I live in Massachusetts and you don't want to live up here. New England is great place to visit...then leave!!
Thank you for sharing here in our community. I do hope you are getting better every day Gayle. Hugs!!
Love your community for us old schoolers ❤😊
Thank you! Yes, old school all the way!! Hugs!!
Hey Wendy! You popped into my mind a few days ago wondering how things were going. I'm quietly living a parallel life and asking myself the very same things. I'll be 56 soon. Thank you for sharing. It really means a lot.
Thank you for sharing here too - keep us posted on your decisions-hugs!!
i'm feeling the same! So done but i think financially I will need to hold on another 3 years or so before I retire. I'm debt free and no mortgage but it's still hard to jump into retirement.
Yes, same here! I think the mindset of being afraid/hesitant to retire isn't that factually true but has been shoved down our throats in this messed up society of ours for so long that we get scared to do anything. I am going to take the leap anyway. Hugs to you!!
Hi Wendy! Welcome back!! Did you take your cats with you to Spain? We really missed you 💕
Thank you! I was in Albania and yes, I took my boys with me. They did great!!
Hello and welcome back! It's so good to see you and hear your voice. You look calm and peaceful. Sometimes a change is what we need, whatever the change may be. I live in Southwest Florida and recently have been dealing with preparations and then repairs after Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Fortunately these storms were not as devastating (in my area) as Ian a few years back. I just finished reading Remarkably Bright Creatures, by Shelby Van Pelt. It was the best book I've read in a while. I highly recommend it. Lately I enjoy listening to LCD Soundsystem. Their sound is very soothing and hypnotic to my ears. Keep taking care of yourself, and don't be a stranger!
Thank you Nanette!!! Missed you too! Glad you fared the storms better this time around. Thank you for the book suggestion as well. Take good care too and hugs!!

"A woman with no friends or a small circle is one of the most secure women you'll ever meet. She values quality over quantity and has built a life of peace by leaving behind fake friends drama and gossip. Her confidence comes from within not from others' approval She's perfectly content with her own company and doesn't need a crowd to feel complete . Her small circle is built on trust and loyalty and she won't waste time on relationships that don't matter . So never underestimate a woman like this because she's already validated herself. Learning to find help for things..and asking for it. There always seems to be aomeone who can help with anything. I am careful with groups in general because they become political and some are there for power. I am not religious in any way. But I do daily inner work, movement, and learn at least one thing. And get out for lunch or coffee.. human interaction.
